Disgusting!!! I don’t know where they picked up there staff but they need to send them back. If you’re driving your vehicle better off if you can take the bus or taxi because there parking lot is the size of a match box. The entire ordeal of coming to this Location is terrible.

Dumbest people work at this dmv and that’s an understatement!!! it starts w management to a staff name Brenda. Today 11÷17÷15, I went in to Apply for a handicap placard for my 93 grandmother. Per their own form, they require a driver license or ID. A reasonable person wld interpret this to be that if u don’t have a driver license, alternate form of ID would suffice. In my case, and Obviously being 93 years old, my grandmother doesn’t driver and therefor does not have a nj driver license.
However when I presented them w my 93 year old grandmothers permanent resident card, they rejected it. HAHAHA when the heck does a U.S. Permanent resident card not a proper form of ID?
This specific location is where the State put all the lazy and stupid union workers that they cannot fire. Pplease please do yourself a favor and avoid this at all cost

As many other reviews state, if you come here bring music or reading material because it may take awhile. Once you get past the out the door line uou have to get into the ‘check in’ line then you go to the line depending on your business there — registration, license, address etc. The main thing about this DMV is its location — it’s way more convenient than the Newark DMV but its way small hence the huge lines.
The workers there can be kind of cold which doesn’t make the experience any better and sometimes it appears others aren’t working. The parking situation is not good its in the same tiny plaza as other shops, notably family dollar which comes in handy if you need a drink or snack before passing out from the lines you wait in. So unfortunately its a place most of us need to go to but it likely won’t be a great experience, particularly here.

The parking lot is pretty much a joke, you might as well go down the street and look for some street parking and hike back. The line wasn’t that long when I got there, but it was slow as hell. There were 3 tellers open for registration (licenses was in separate line) and they didn’t seem like they were in a hurry. In their defense, as I got closer to front of the line, I heard someone complain about not renewing license in a few years and then having to pay for back years (yeah you don’t get to scam the system by only renewing when caught by a cop every 5 years), someone who didn’t speak English, and someone farther down the line who was there the whole half hour I was in line.
When I got to the front, the woman seemed REALLY happy I had all my paperwork in hand and the form completed correctly. My guess is dealing with people all day who can’t follow basic direction wears on them. Took my about 5 minutes to get things completed when I was at counter, so I don’t know how some people were taking SO long. Would have been nice if they had more tellers open to keep line moving. NEVER renew in person if you have online/​in mail option. It’s a huge hassle for something that only takes a couple minutes itself. This location does not seem equipped to handle all the people needing helped although the customers themselves really slow the process down.

Assuming that there is no possible way you can make it to another Motor Vehicle Location, 1 other in Essex county and I believe 2 other in union county which is only a couple minutes away. Then you will have the displeasure of handling your Motor Vehicle related issues here.
If you arrive anytime after 4 (they close at 5:30), they will give you a ticket saying they may or may not have time to see you. And that you will have to come back tomorrow, but your ticket does not offer you any preferential treatment the following day.
Plan to stand, as by this time, there are no seats. But then be grateful that your are standing because the chairs are pretty gross. The whole office is pretty gross truthfully, but should we expect a clean and organized office in essex county? I think so, but perhaps I am alone in this thinking.
To match displeasure with discomfort, the staff are not particularly friendly, as the lady who evaluated my 6 points necessary to apply for a ID did so with unnecessary amounts of attitude.
In summation, skip this location. And if you can’t, then proceed with extreme amounts of patience.

From the postage stamp of a parking lot, to the snail-​like staff, this DMV is horrible. Most DMV’s have reputations of having jaded staff, but I swear time stopped while I was here. People kept cutting in line and the staff made a point to move extra slow. There was also ONE lady working the section for registration and titles. Really??? I mean, seems like an important category, especially with the line out the door, for only one person to handle. The staff is not very knowledgeable. The supervisor was the only person who was sort of friendly and actually knew what the heck was going on. I cringe everytime I have to go back to this place.

The WORST dmv I have ever been too. The employees are extremely rude and its uncalled for. The government should monitor these agencies because they are awful with customer service.

One of the worst DMV’s I’ve been to in terms of space and efficiency. I’m not even going to talk about the parking lot, I swear, if you can… get dropped off.
If you want to even entertain continuing your life at any point in the day, you need to show up 10 minutes before this place opens and hope you can be at least 5^th in line. Otherwise I suggest you forward your mail there, call out of work, and have someone on standby to bring you sustenance. Seriously… God Speed

Worst place ever. The ghettoest people in the world. Rudest service. Horrible parking lot. Ignorant people at the desk who just assume what ur talking about without letting u finish. Throw the papers u need at you and say «NEXT!!» Before u can even say thank you. I couldn’t wait to get out of here. All nasty attitudes service and customers from the public. Never want to go near a location like that again. –_​_​–

It really wasn’t that bad. I got there at 758am on a Wednesday in the middle of the month to renew my driver’s license. There were maybe ten people ahead of me in a line outside of the DMV entrance. The doors opened at 8 am and everyone formed a line inside. I was heading home at about 833am with my new driver’s license. You can park in the lot if there are spaces (it’s very small) or there’s plenty of street parking. So long as you have your six points and are open to taking a new picture, the workers are polite. It was a fairly fast and efficient process.

I needed my registration renewed. So, they are supposed to close at 5:30 on Monday, right? Well when I went at 4:59pm after work, the officer at the door said «Ma’am they are not taking anymore people». Mind you, there are 3 customers in the whole place. If they are getting paid until 5:30, I expect to receive service until that time, or at least 10 minutes to closing time. They are a joke.

Horrible wait time which drains your whole day… try another one maybe?

Aside from the usual surliness to be expected at a DMV, they were fast, efficient and for the most part polite.
Sometimes with the DMV it can be the luck of the draw. I was fortunate enough to be there when there wasn’t a line around the building.
For the most part, I’ve had faster, more efficient service here than I’ve had at the Wayne location.

OMFG!!! I could not wait to come home and type up a review for this… this…place. I’m trying not to use profanity.
Anyways, I chose to go to this DMV because I was planning on stopping at a store in the area so it was more convenient. HA! Was I wrong.
As soon as I pulled up to their cramped parking lot, I saw a long line outside of the door. I hesitated a moment and thought about placing my left leg back into the car and driving away but I turned off the engine and joined the line. I wanted to be optimistic and believe that my whole visit will not be longer than one hour. HA! Was I wrong.
I waited in line in the cold weather, inhaling cigarette smoke for about an hour or so. My lower back was hurting me. They kept letting those who had registration related issues to go ahead of those who had license related issues. Why? I have no clue. A couple of DMV employees came outside and asked us the reason for our visit. I told them the same thing over and over again, «To add a motorcycle endorsement to my driver’s license.» One employee said she will come back and give me the correct form because she didnt have any CDL forms on her. So I was looking out for her waiting. HA! Was I wrong.
Not surprised. When I go to a DMV I have no expectations of having even an «ok» experience there. Some, not all, but some of these DMV employees are lazy, mean and ungrateful. When I was finally asked to enter the warm, building, I had to wait at another line. NO SURPRISE! And the same girl asked me, «What are you here for?» I told her again the reason. She gave me a form and I started to fill it out. I was a bit relieved. I thought, «Yes, I’m inside now, its not that crowded in here and I should be all done in about fifteen minutes. HA! Was I wrong.
Only one girl was working at the license section taking her sweet time and the other two girls were walking around or chatting. Then after she checked my documents, she sent me to another line. Smh=“Shaking my head». I sat for another 20 minutes and they finally called my number… «96». I waited some more at another line and when the clerk called me to her window I let out a huge sigh of relief. I couldn’t wait to get a new license, pay and start my day. HA! Was I wrong.
I got to the window and after a couple of minutes and a few confused looks from the clerk’s face I started to worry. The clerk next to her saw my documents and she asked, «Where did you take the motorcycle test?» I told her where and then she said I’m sorry but you have to go to one of our DMV testing sites like the one in Newark. They will help you. My jaw dropped. I was waiting to see if maybe they would both say, «Oh, just kidding. We can help you here.» HA! Was I wrong.
I have no kind words for the experience I had at this God forsaken place. After several DMV employees looked at my documents, not one said I had to go to the other location. Not one. I would have saved a lot of time and avoided the possibility of nearly getting hypothermia and/​or lung cancer. NEVER AGAIN WILL I COME HERE!

***First some brief History:
In 1987 I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico ((New Mexico was the 47^th state added in the Union on 1-​6-​1912!))***
… Anyway, I needed a duplicate of my licensce… so as part of the 6POINTS I.D. I used my birth certificate. I waited on the first line outside for ’bout 20 minutes, then once i was able to go inside they had me wait in a waiting area for about 10 minutes… and theeeeen I was allowed to stand in the next line for about 45 minutes,… and I was greated by the most ignorant lady out of all the DMVs I’ve ever gone to. After some small talk she informed me that my documents were no good; that my birth certificate is an out of country birth certificate and therefore I need to come back with my green card ((PAUSE)), I told her I don’t have one because I was born in the states. She told me that New Mexico was not part of the states and its a seperate country, I then told her she’s getting the state «New» Mexico confused for the country MEXICO. She then called someone, I guess security because I was becoming ‘irate’ and that she needed extra assistance with me… So while waiting for her ‘extra assistance’ I told her to actually READ my UNITED STATES BIRTH CERTIFICATE so she can see where it says STATE OF NEW MEXICO. She refused to and handed back my documents.
I told her I didn’t just stand in line so i can stand in a nother line to stand in one more line for over an hour for her uneducated self to just shooo me away since she doesn’t know what’s a state and whats not. I told her to ask a co-​worker, she did, infact she asked TWO co-​workers ((YES THATS RIGHT 2, SHE ASKED 2!!!), and they both looked at me and said, «NO, IT’S NOT A STATE, COME BACK WITH YOUR GREEN CARD».
In disbelief I then told her, «Listen, New Mexico is a state, and when you look at a map, its in between Arizona and Texas,»
And she had the AUDACITY** to respond back with, «Ma’am, just because New Mexico is touching Arizona and Texas does NOT mean its part of the US.»…((FAIL))
At this point I’m ready to blow up because now she’s making a scene infront of everyone and trying to dumb me down when infact she’s the idiot… and then … all of a sudden… its like a ton of ‘smart’ bricks just hit her outside her head, she snatched my documents right out my hand… aaaaaaAAANNNND with theeee rudest attitude she whispered to me in the most faintest of whispers,… «I read it wrong…», handed me back all my documents and then allowed me to proceed to the next looooong line. NO SORRY, NO APOLOGY NO NOTHING!
NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EVER BEEN SOOOO DISRESPECTED BY A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. I WILL **NEVER** GO BACK TO THIS LOCATION. And I’ll make sure not to ever lose my licensce again, I never want to experience such a humilitaing (humiliating for her) moment. It just makes me sick how these people are working for our government for the UNITED STATES and they don’t even know what’s a state and whats not! I guess they’ll hire anybody… smh…
