I had an amazing time performing in this show! Cheeky Belles Burlesque is proud to support this spectacular show for an incredibly important cause! I was backstage this year but last year I was moved to tears by the glorious performances and community spirit. Thanks to my friend, Performer Devin Liquor, I got to be a part of the magic!

For those who live in East Point, the annual drag show by the Possums is like a holiday weekend. Parties are planned around it, friends from out of town come to visit just to go, taking new people and watching their expressions as they see the crowd and watch show are as good as watching a kid open up gifts on Christmas! Yes, the drag is mostly amateur, but it all has so much heart. And they do all of this to raise money for wonderful charities. The crowd is wonderfully diverse with gay, straight, black, white, young, and old joining together to have fun and raise money. Parents bring kids, and adults bring their elderly parents. I brought my 72 yr old straight Catholic mother this year and she had a blast! It is always the 3d Saturday in June and it is worth scheduling your summer fun around to be sure you don’t miss it. if you aren’t going to a «pre-Possums» party/bbq then come down to East Point early and grab a pizza and beer at Oz Pizza, or check out our Corner Tavern for a great pre-show meal. Then walk to the Commons(the area behind the Grady Clinic and the Library) and grab a seat or patch of grass and settle in for a great show.

First year going, about time since I have been in east point for 4 years now. This event is a charity drag show where locals dress up and mime performances. This year had about a thousand or so people and was fun to attend. The performances range from mediocre to highly entertaining. However each performance is fun to watch and while I thought I might dip out early I ended up staying until the end. People watching is also highly interesting here, lots to spot. it is a free event, asking only for donations to charity. Make sure to stop by next year, June 16th and check it out.

This was my first year going and it was FANTASTIC!!! The acts were right on point and I’m told that several of the performers are some of the most veteran & talented in Atlanta. I will be going every year from now on! Bring those bills $$$ and donate! My other little plug for East Point-Don’t forget to stop by the East Point Corner Tavern for some fantastic food and micro-brews before and after the show!

Left without words. Speechless before splendor. The East Point Villagers have the correct reaction: repeated genuflection. Honestly, the five stars are for more than the Possums’ performance. Given the annual fundraiser’s execution, their organizational skills are unmatched. Their inspirational skills netted a substantial sum for two worthy causes. Their staging skills provided action and respite in good measure. And they’re damned good performers. Some of their songs had already been used this night(and many others at clubs), but their enthusiasm and choreography had the audience on their feet in dance. Tonight’s event, the annual East Point Possums show, drew a wonderfully wide and diverse audience. It’s difficult to explain how happy that made us. There were little kids. There were things many would declare«unfit» for little kids. No one was declaring anything unfit. Wonderful. There were different races, creeds, ages, religious backgrounds… If you can draw that many different groups to one event and leave them all thrilled, you deserve far more than just a good review on a web site. And tonight the Possums provided far more to other groups. «Largest drag show in the Southeast» is measured by heart beyond size.
