My favorite place! Have been coming for years! Would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the rude waitress that started a few months ago. Rude, sometimes nice but in the fake sense. Maybe it’s her voice.

Service was friendly, food wasn’t bad but didn’t leave me itching to come back. I suspect people come here for the hookah, which is not my scene.

I used to go to the old Eros prior to the move and it was amazing. Tried the new location with my fiancé and it was AWFUL. Customer service was beyond horrible. The food was disgusting. When asked for extra taziki sauce for my gyro and water the waitress had the nerves to point at both the water(almost empty) and the gyro and say to me «we’ll there still some there». She was insisting as if I had enough because she was too lazy to refill my water and bring me extra sauce. BTW it took her over 10 minutes to even bring it out. I’m sadden that once an amazing place bites the dust!

Love Eros! My hubby and I go on our day off together for breakfast and I go with my friends or family during the week for a meal, some coffee and dessert or to smoke some hookah outside now that the weather is nice. The staff is cool, especially Javi who usually takes care of us during the day and Sydney who we usually see in the afternoons/evenings. If you like hookah have Sydney mix melon and mint for you, it’s fantastic and she puts together a great hookah! And if you like espresso or hot chocolate have Javi whip you up an iced espresso with coconut or a Mexican hot chocolate with hazelnut! Oh and waffles. with Nutella… I could go on! They’re always accommodating and I’ve never had something I didn’t like. Thank you Eros for always being warm and welcoming and treating my crew like family :)

I was really hesitant to go to Eros after reading all the Unilocal reviews, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! I went there with my two friends and we sat inside. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by 4 ladies who said we could sit wherever. We picked a seat in the back and they brought menus to our table. Soon the waitress told us that we had to sit outside to smoke the hookah. It was raining outside but they have an awning and heaters so we decided to give it a try. We ended up ordering two appetizers with our first waitress(we had two and they looked alike which made it kind of confusing) chicken quesadillas and Greek fries. The chicken quesadilla was really good but kind of small for being $ 10. The Greek fries were good also. We also ordered a mint hookah with grapefruit with our second waitress. I will say that when ordering the hookah the waitress was very helpful with our selection. She listed all of her favorite flavors(mint was one of them) and told us what the point of milk in the base of the hookah was for(it makes the smoke thicker never knew that lol). Also here they change charcoals without asking and a flavor refill is only three dollars first place I’ve been that they do that! They also have coffee and desserts there but we didn’t order any so I can’t be of help in that department. All in all I think the service was great and our servers were attentive and helpful. Maybe because it was kind of slow that we got good service but i would say this place is definitely on my list for a go to for a chill night with friends!

After reading all the bad reviews on Unilocal I still decided to give Eros a try. Some of us ordered Gyros, pizza and the specials and they all were really good. What I did notice was a bunch of young kids trying to order Hookahs without ID’s the waitress was not allowing it. These are probably the same kids that go online and write bad reviews about the service but in reality they were really giving the staff a hard time and were very rude towards them. Give Eros a try you won’t be disappointed the food and service were great.

This place was better when it was on the other side of the tracks. The service was never great but it went from bad to worse. Been here a few times since the move and I think thats it. The staff is terrible. They ignore you and give you an attitude. Way overpriced.

This used to be my favorite spot for Mediterranean food, I really loved the gyros, and the Greek coffee. However, ever since the original location burned down, it is absolute garbage. The new location is horrible. The service is terrible because the waitresses are rude and are too busy in their own conversations to check on their tables. The pizza looks like it was made by toddlers and hookah is over priced and doesn’t have any flavor. I will not be returning.

I was there the other night and after reading reviews I guess I was lucky enough to have the tall skinny waiter because the service was great and the food was very good

Wow, this place needs some new employees! I would give it 3 stars for the food alone, but the service was so bad I can’t bring myself to give it more than 1 star. From the second we walked in our waitress(really skinny with brown hair and glasses– pretty sure her name was Christina or something to that effect) rushed us and was beyond rude. First of all, there was only one other table of people there besides us and the rest of the restaurant was completely empty. We sat down and wanted to have a glass of wine and catch up with the other couple we met there before ordering but she came by our table about 8 times in 3 minutes(no exaggeration) asking if we were ready to order. We kept telling her we wanted some time but finally decided to look at the menu on the spot and order something so she would leave us alone. The meal was just ok. We all got gyros. They were pretty plain but we all liked the Greek fries they came with. We also got a shrimp appetizer and the spinach dip. The shrimp was a really small portion and nothing special. I liked the spinach dip, but the chips it came with were soggy and the pita it came with was too hard to bite. So we finished eating and paid the bill, but we still had about a glass of wine left each. Our other friend came in to sit with us while we finished before walking next door to the bar. The girl runs up to him the second he walks in and says, «what would you like to eat?» He tells her that he is just waiting for us to finish and wasn’t going to have anything and she goes, «oh well you can’t just sit here if you aren’t going to order something, and also the rest of you guys are done eating and already paid so you can’t sit here either». This blew my mind. Mind you the place was completely empty still. I asked her if they were closing and she said no, so this girl clearly has no idea of what customer service is. We also had a 25% tip for her laying on the table in front of us so I don’t know what she was thinking being so rude. She’s lucky we didn’t take the whole tip back. I will never go back here again.

We shared some appetizers — sample of 5 pikilia spreads and spanakopita which were decent. The mains — greek chicken sliders(dry, no flavor); greek salad topped with grilled chicken(veg was fresh chicken was dry and bland) and veg risotto(no flavor). I don’t know why pizza is on the menu when there are several legitimate Italian pizza places with very good product within a 5 minute walking distance from Eros. It’s always a bad sign when a restaurant tries to be all things to all people. Smells of desperation Although Eros boasts outdoor seating, it is located on top of the train station and a busy road and I am not a fan of breathing in fumes while having a meal and we opted to sit indoors. Décor is very bland, like a dinette. The service was OK but our waitress was so overzealous she kept asking us how our meal was every 5 minutes. Every. Five. Minutes. So annoying A thoroughly lackluster dining experience in an area that is abundant in great restaurants

I wanted to give Eros Café more than one chance before I gave my honest review. They recently moved to East Rutherford after dining at their previous location in Rutherford. So after three times of dining there… First trip to Eros Café in their new location was very good. It was a warm night and we were looking to eat outside and the place is BYOB… win-win. I had the lamb gyro which was pretty good. My girlfriend had the Greek Wrap which was very good and the Greek Fries were excellent. We also tried the humus which was excellent. It was a very busy night and the service was ok. 2nd trip to Eros was a different story. The Greek fries were excellent as they were the first time. I decided to order the Greek Wrap which was horrible. The grilled chicken looked like the bad part of the chicken. Guts and fat grilled up. I couldn’t even eat it. My Girlfriend had the Greek Wrap and it was ok. The kids ordered a pizza and it was very good. The service was bad. It took forever for to get a bucket of ice for our wine. A new server kept on checking on us. I thought it was odd that they charged us gratuity, even though it says they do for 5 people. We had 3 children who shared a pizza. Our 3rd trip was similar to the second time. I wanted to try to Greek Wrap again. There was 3 adults and 3 children. 2 of the 3 Greek wraps had NO grilled chicken on it. We decided to send it back and just eat pizza. The meatball pizza was excellent and Greek fries was excellent again. The service was terrible. Four different people came to our table. After we paid the bill, they came back to the table and noticed we only received a check total not an itemized check of our order. The waiter played dumb and we realized they never subtracted the 2 Greek wraps that were sent back and again added gratuity. Nice try Eros. There are certain things I did like about Eros so I will give them another chance once the weather warms up. I enjoyed sitting outside. I understand it’s a new location(the old location burnt down) and the wait staff was very young. Eros will be adding a roof top deck, so hopefully they will get their act together and can make this a regular spot!

I’ve been here about 4 – 5 times, with no real problems or issues. However, last time I brought a friend there, we had brought beer as the place is BYOB, and this wasn’t the first time I have done this. We order our food and the waitress tells us we may have to order something else to make it over the $ 10 minimum to drink. No problem. That’s A-OK. I understand that, its fine. We put something else on our order and our waitress leaves it alone at that. At some point during the meal, a friend stops in to say hello to us. When I went up to pay, a different waitress says in the most condescending tone that we cannot just come in and drink our beer without spending the minimum of $ 30! I’m sorry, wasn’t so told at the beginning $ 10? With hindsight, maybe it was $ 10 per person. That’s fine too, okay? But perhaps they should have been more specific upon taking our order? I would have had no problem giving them a few more dollars had they told me. Every other time I’ve been here I don’t think I hit that minimum without tip. We always get gyros, so with 3 people before we’ve spent like.24 dollars. Not sure why she chose tonight to behave that way. The price minimum was not advertised anywhere and I called and asked before and no one said anything about it. They should teach their waitresses their own proper policy, and some people skills. Won’t be coming back here, or telling anyone about it anymore.

From what I ve seen, this place looks like it is being managed by a young, recent graduate of a culinary school. The air of cockiness leads me to think it is one of the more well known institutions. With that said… Pros: Food is decent, recommend the gyro. The place is also open late, is byob, has hookah and free wifi. Outdoor seating is nice in the summer. Cons: On more than one occasion I ve heard the staff in the FOH and BOH being loud w one other. When this happens, it’s no longer a place for customers to eat and enjoy their food/company. Bottom line — decent choice for a late-night bite or coffee when everything else is closed. Otherwise look to one of the dozens of nearby places for better value, service and food.

I want to love Eros café… but I just… can’t. It’s SO close… but just not there. I’ve eaten or ordered from them 3 or 4 times now. And every time it’s just not quite 100%. First time, we ordered a lamb gyro and a take out pizza. The gyro was OK, but the pizza was the greasiest thing I’ve ever eaten, and the undercrust was blackened. OK, first attempt failed. On another outing, I ordered lunch takeout. Again, it was OK. Not great, just OK. We tried to stop there for breakfast on a Sunday morning. 9:15 am, and they were closed. We walked to the pancake house, and when we came back through they were open. We chalked that one up to them being newly re-opened. This last trip may have been the last straw. My GF hadn’t been impressed with the lamb last time, but she decided to order it again. I wanted to change it up, so I ordered a beef gyro, so we could compare. The fries were good, but the beef gyro meat tasted way better than the lamb. Nothing was«bad», it just wasn’t that good. The service was all over the place. We must have been attended by 4 different people, nobody seemed to be responsible for our table. And you ask one of them for a refill on the water, and never see them again. Ask the next waitress… We ordered some baklava to finish off, and were served a tiny portion for $ 5. It was really tasty, but it was really small. All in all, a big bummer. All in all, it isn’t horrible, but it isn’t great either. I give Eros café a middle of the road 3 stars.

Ordered here from the other night. HORIATIKISALAD for me. I quote«Chopped salad of tomato, cucumber, red onion, belt pepper, kalamata olives & barrelled feta in a red wine vinaigrette» — what I got was: SEEPHOTO. So friggn disappointed! The description is MISLEADING! Not cool at all. The fiancée had a chicken gyro, which he was happy with.(That’s where the second star came from.) Oh yeah — a small shitty salad and a chicken gyro — $ 24. Ridiculous prices!

Horrible. Went there with a group of 5, asked to be seated and waited 20 minutes for a table that was open the entire time. We were excited to sit in the«outdoor hookah lounge» but what it really was, was a sidewalk. We sat at an unbalanced metal table where it took 35 minutes before a waiter even came out to see us. Hookah was fine, espresso tasted like a gross person’s butt crack. So disappointing, ruined our night.

We came with our 6 months baby late to have dinner with my husband. The waitress there made us wait outside forever only to come out and say that she can’t accommodate us because our stroller will take the whole space. she didn’t offer high chair or to sit inside or to move the table. Basically she just said that she doesn’t want us and they are very busy now and the manager is busy with someone else. Never ever I encountered with such a poor service. We will never come here again and advice this place for anyone else.

Not good for groups over five– I was SO excited to come here and check out the new spot. I loved everything about the last location– the décor, music, food, hookah. I came here with high expectations I guess. Me and group of my girlfriends came in at around 8 on a Friday hoping to get a table outside for hookah(they don’t take reservations) they told us we’d have to wait at least two hours. And we were cool with it. So we sat and ate and drank our wine inside and waited. Two hours pass. And we ask the server what’s up and she said one of us said no to a table outside. Complete BS btw. So we waited again. There were two-top tables surrounding each other, after saying they couldn’t put the tables together, we were fine with seating separately and ordering our own hookahs… But NOPE. By this time is 12:30am! Been there since 8. They said it would take away from other costumers. But how? We’re all occupying an empty table, yes, but we’re buying hookahs individually. And maybe if they had let us sit outside from the beginning, the servers check would’ve been pretty high. All in all, we didn’t feel valued as costumers at all. The service is nice, but unaccommodating. Not the same vibes as the original. I also feel that taking reservations for large party’s over 6 would make sense.
