Metro Wine & Liquors

I don’t normally do 1 or 2 star reviews. I’m going to make a special exception here…
Metro Wine and Liquors is a disaster. Not sure what they are doing in business. I suspect they cater to the «one for the road» crowd.
The shelves are half empty. The guy running the counter (who was probably the owner) couldn’t care less that you are wandering his store searching for something.
What was I searching for? Margarita mix. A simple bottle of margarita mix. Most liquor stores have 5 different brands, in 3 sizes, and 3 flavors. Not Metro.
They had some Strawberry daiquiri/​margarita mix, but no regular. Keep in mind, if your shelves are mostly empty, this is one of the CHEAPEST ways to make the store look full. They should have *cases* of mixers filling the empty spots on the shelves. They could also spread out the facings of the liquors they do have in stock.
I interrupted the clerk, and he looked up from his reading, and told me they have no margarita mix. Brilliant.
Oh, it gets better. I stumbled across a bottle of cheap wine that I decided to buy instead.
When I got it to the register, it rang up to $ 9.08. The guy says that’ll be $ 9.10. That’s right, he’s rounding up the prices. He had a pretty thick accent, and I wasn’t feeling like getting into an argument over 2 lousy cents. Then the guy says he doesn’t have any quarters, gives me a pile of dimes for change from a $ 10. Of course, I didn’t count them right there, I didn’t notice until I got home and emptied my jeans. I pulled 8 dimes from my pocket, and went fishing for the last one. I’m OCD about not sending metal objects through the washer/​dryer, and there are no holes in my pockets. the guy short changed me 12 cents.
Now, for the record, it isn’t the 12 cents. It’s the dishonesty. He could have raised the shelf price of the bottle by 50 cents, and I wouldn’t have cared. But as a former business owner, I absolutely HATE dishonest businesses. The price is the price. There is no rounding. You keep the proper change in the register, and you don’t short-​change people.
Combine a dishonest clerk with a half empty store, and there, my friends is a ONE STAR review. And well earned.
