Town Diner

Best in the area but not good at all. East windsor has no great diners so this place is kind of the only option. Americana tries to hard not to be a true diner so I am not counting them. The town diner is below par on service, quality of food, décor and cleanliness. 2 stars. Clean up your act and hire people who are personable.

The staff was friendly. The food was reasonably priced and portions were good. We enjoyed the visit from out of town. Would definitely go again when we visit family.

Okay I normally don’t bounce from high to low to high stars again BUT… it wasn’t the food that was my issue not by long shot. Their food is still delicious it was the service and management. So after several visits with friends and family I have noticed they have gotten either new help or a stern talking too. Whatever the case may be they waitresses I’ve had the last several times have been point on. Tonight I had Jess she was perfect. Didn’t have to ask for much and when I did she was quick there. I have to say I had their cream of turkey soup and it was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. Not too thick and not watery chunks of turkey and veggies and parsley. Flavors was awesome didn’t need salt or pepper.nothing. not even crackers. I had my standard BCHB. Which was perfect n juicy as always. So with that being said I will be back.

We drive past this place all the time and decided to try it because of all the reviews. We were very happy with our food. I got a lunch sized chicken parm meal which came with soup. The chicken and rice soup was very good. The chicken parm was tender and the marinara sauce was very good. My husband got breakfast. Pancakes were yummy. He got eggs, home fries and toast, which were good. The food came out super fast. Our waitress was ok. That’s why I gave it a 4 and not a 5. We will definitely be back.

Our favorite area diner. Everything has been consistently good. We’ve been going there since their reopening after the Windsor Grande Café culinary failure. Now it’s just good, classic diner food as well as some fancier fare. Good prices. Great service as well. Chocolate cheesecake is simply amazing!!! Unlike their competitor down the road, Town Diner has hard/​Kaiser rolls for my pork roll and cheese sandwich… and they’re really good rolls too, LOL.

Pretty good food. Their Cuban panini is excellent with onion rings. Food taste fresh and isn’t deli meat! The only turn off for me was one of the young waitresses talking about how Bernie Sanders is going to put her through school and if she could only keep Obama in office. Very young and immature unintellectual conversation between two employees. Otherwise my meal was very good.

We go here instead of americana because the food is more relaxed american diner style. Always had a problem with the way they make their potatoes but everything else I’ve eaten here for breakfast has been good. I had a gido plate and greek plate. The gido plate had bratwurst with eggs and veggies and the greek plate has feta cheese with eggs and veggies.

I have been here a couple of times and have never had a problem with the service until today. My two friends and I walked in and the older lady was about to seat us when I asked for a booth. She looks at me and looked at my friend and said are you sure you’d fit in a booth? My friend a little larger but not to the point where fitting in a booth is a problem. But the fact that she said that to a customer burns me up. Then, the server was impatient and slow. It took her 20 mins to bring a coffee refill. I then go to pay and am asked how everything was and I said you don’t want me to answer that and instead of asking what was wrong, she says ok and takes my credit card and finishes up. Never again will I come here.

I definitely prefer this diner over Americana. The prices are far more reasonable, they have a huge variety, and it still feels like a diner. The food has always been tasty and comes out fairly quick… However, the servers are usually pretty slow when it comes to checking on customers, delivering the bill, etc.

VERY SLOW SERVICE. It’s a really nice diner inside. The place is very clean. I ordered an egg white omelette. I thought it was a plate of mash potatoes. VERY FLUFFY Never saw anything like this new
Overall. It was just ok.

Service and atmosphere:
I have been to this diner more than a few times, including before its most recent change into this version of the diner. I really liked the food bars from the previous iteration, but I do not miss them much.
What I like most about Town Diner is the style of the service. Each of the waitstaff have a bubbly, friendly personality that they give you a glimpse of. My servers have been friendly, quick witted, and funny there. I always feel well-​served. I also love the people watching and community interactions I’ve observed there. I would not go so far as to call it an old-​world café, but there is definitely a vibe of community and creativity there.
If I have a complaint it’s this: Too many TVs, wrong content for diner viewers (politics), and the music station (we typically get seated under the easy-​listening music speaker competing with the TV speakers).
I should learn to ask to have it turned down or off when we are among the few participants.
The food.
Everyone who goes can try the complimentary garlic knots. Such a simple thing: give hungry people something delicious to munch on. I think every time I have decided to go there, it was in no small part to those garlic knots — soft, warm, fresh, pretzel-​like, full of garlic butter and salt. The free serving for two was 12 knots. A feast in itself.
And the coffee is very good.
The pancakes (about 10 varieties) are legit crack. I’m not sure if I prefer the cornbread style cakes or the multigrain cakes, but either of them will do — fluffy, flavorful, texturally satisfying, and never too sweet.
I have also had their Monte Cristo, the jersey diner staple for the truly decadent — real turkey and ham with cheese on french toast with a side of syrup. It’s a truly elevated ham and cheese. They do it well, and I have a hard time not liking a kitchen that handles the dish with care (e.g. real turkey breast, carved).
I have also had their desserts — a black forest cake or chocolate cream pie comes to mind as a standout. Well done jersey diner style desserts. You have to get the baking right, and they do.
The menu is huge, but I have no doubt that I will continue to try and enjoy the rest of their offerings. Reasonable prices for diner fare, served very well. Well done, friends.

Food quality downhill under new owners. This was my second and last try. For sharing an appetizer they used the small plates that go under a coffee cup. Potato pancakes were a special and would have been better if they were cooked. Waiter tried his best but I am going back to AMERICANA DINER

The staff is great, service is quick and friendly and their garlic knots are my addiction! Everytime I visit I try something different and its always delicious. This has become our weekly spot for family dinner.

Did 3 of us just eat dinner for $ 46? Great burgers, awesome soup and cakes for dessert.

We had to wait 30 minutes for eggs and when we questioned delay we were told there were only 2 cooks (it’s a Saturday morning). When the meal finally arrived, my egg white omelette was runny, had to send back. Finally had meal and after I took first bite realized they used frozen broccoli. From the coffee to meal there was not one positive aspect of the entire meal. Even my son’s French toast was bland. When my husband went to pay bill, he spoke to the woman behind the register to air his grievances and she couldn’t be bothered or at least comp our mediocre coffee. Lesson learned– won’t ever go back to this diner!!!

Have visited this diner about five times. The first breakfast i found them decent and reasonable but on my re-​visit i ordered a substitute for my toast. Having a bagel instead with cream cheese. Was charged $ 2.95 extra on the check. When i questioned that price, i was told the bagel charge would have been $.55 with butter, but $ 2.95 for a bagel with cream cheese. I guess i need to get a second mortgage to eat at this diner.
They redecorated the diner from its past owners and it seems very clean and impressive.
The dinners that i have had were not so impressive. I tried the leg of lamb. It tasted old with freezer burn and came without a choice of sides. You got what they gave you. Which in this case was nasty mash potatoes and mixed veges. No bread was offered with the meal. Not very impressed with dinner. But i will return for breakfast.

Wonderful, friendly and efficient service and food at breakfast. You may ask for sautéed spinach instead of potatoes or grits and it is delicious.
Good value as well.

Bar none, BEST Diner I’ve been to yet!
Their menu has a wide variety of options for each category. I’ve only been here for brunch. My favorite dishes have been their Egg Benedicts, which they have around 7 different kinds. If Eggs Benedict isn’t your thing, try their Big Cat (Think McGriddle but wrapped in a tortilla). They also have a wide juice selection!
Perfect portions, phenomenal food, great atmosphere. Can’t wait to try this place out for lunch and dinner someday!

Nice Jersey diner, with friendly service and decent food. Dined here for breakfast recently, and while the menu promises some creative and unusual choices for breakfast («Irish Omelet» with potatoes, corned beef & cabbage) the farmer’s omelet I had was just okay. The veggies were cooked properly and the omelet was light & fluffy, but it had little flavor — quite bland really. The potatoes & bacon were also decent, but nothing special. Coffee was reasonably strong and servers kept filling the cup regularly.
One thing about the Town Diner is that the place is very clean & bright, incl the bathroom, which cannot be said of every diner in NJ. You probably won’t go wrong here, for breakfast anyway, but while their creations sound promising, the execution doesn’t quite live up to expectations. No gluten free toast/​bread options are available.

This building just re-​opened as the Town Diner. Have been twice for breakfast.
Very impressed. Clean, great service and delicious good quality food. Have a good menu with a lot of selections.
