I left three dresses there; two to be taken in and one to be hemmed. The business is really bad at communicating with you when your items are ready. Multiple times I’ve come in to ask about the status of an item and they claimed either is wasn’t ready or that they couldn’t contact me, even when every time I have left I’ve left with my phone number written down. I’m not a difficult person to get a hold of. I’m very good about calling businesses back and I’m very good about giving businesses time(life happens and I understand) but there was a month where they made no contact with me about my items even when one of my dresses were hemmed and ready to go out. They are very vague of pricing and when I’ve asked for quotes they’ve said«we’ll tell you later» today I’m picking up the last dress three months later. It’s been ready for a week sitting there in their shop and they’ve made no attempt to contact me. I had to call them. The quality of the dresses they’ve taken in are fair but there really needs to be more communication and more explicit pricing. I cannot work with a business who will not communicate with me.

I am a big fan of Hamilton Cleaners. They are an old school cleaner and have been around for years. It is one of the rare business where they know your name when you walk in the door. The owners Rick and Marie are exceedingly friendly and helpful and do top quality work. They also do alterations which I have been very satisfied with(shortening pants in my case). They are one of the few cleaners who offer«Chinese style» shirt cleaning. This means that instead of all of the cardboard and plastic junk that most cleaners give with a laundered shirt which wastes paper and causes your shirts to take up more room in storage, the shirts from Hamilton are packaged with a bag and a thin paper strip. This is better for the environment and saves on storage space. You need to ask for this service. As far as how they handle the clothing, I will give an example. My shirts are made in England where genuine mother of pearl buttons are used by the better makers as opposed to plastic. Prior to going to Hamilton, these buttons were broken regularly. Since I started giving Hamilton my business, I have not had this problem. Hamilton is used to handling expensive clothing and know how to properly take care of quality clothing. I recommend them whole heartedly.
