We offer an escape to traditional log cabins on a beautiful pebble cove beach in the heart of an old growth forest. Our guests come to enjoy the breathtaking views, the coziness of their own cabin and access to all that Orcas Island has to offer.
History
Established in 1939.
Beach Haven was built by a family who were some of the first homesteaders on Orcas Island. In the 1930’s Bill Kimple and His family began clearing select trees in our old growth forest to build four traditional log cabins with electricity. They milled the wood from the cleared trees and built each cabin so it would have unsurpassed views and privacy. They opened their doors to their first guests in 1939 when it was mostly Seattle’s higher class adventurers that could afford the ferry and journey to get here. Each cabin had a Franklin stove for cooking and there was one central refrigerator to be shared among the four cabins. Since then the resort has been sold and purchased a few times but always owned by families. Over the years additional cabins were added to accommodate families and groups of fisherman.
