I was very happy with the service and the products used as well as Tina and Chyna.

It is not often you find a hairdresser that just vibes with you and who totally gets your style. Tina is that person for me. I came in her shop a little tired and run down, running 40 mins late, due to my commute. I called her and she accommodated me and took in the condition of my hair and lifestyle and totally hooked me up. I walked out wondering why I didn’t find her years ago. She is extraordinary. Her salon is beautiful, clean and a pleasure to be in. She is my new normal.

Tina Pearson and her salon deserve every one of the 5 stars. Today was my first time getting my hair done by Tina. My commute from Westchester wasn’t bad at all. Front door to Salon GPS said 37mins. The Salon is in a beautiful location by the water with metered parking just steps away. I was greeted by Tina who couldn’t have been more kind and professional. She first, asked me about my hair before analyzing it personally. I’m a Natural (unrelaxed) girl with fine hair. I was more than happy with my hair when i finished as shown in my new profile pic. Another side note which impressed me is there was no pressure to purchase products and she showed me what she used on my hair as we went through each step. I would definitely come again and if your looking for a genuine, professional, and timely stylist, give the salon a try.

Very professional. Robbie was funny, attentive, chatty but not to chatty and very knowledgeable to be so young. He was a bit rough but that is expected from a man. I like the way he handled my hair and told me exactly what i needed. I definitely appreciate him not trying to upsell everything. He told me prices flat out. I told him my budget and he got right to work. Next time i go I’m aware of pricing and i know what to spend. My hair is lovely and soft. It takes a lot for me to be satisfied and i have no complaints. Btw Miss Tina is amazing as well very polite and professional. I will definitely see robbie as well as my current stylist. I can’t afford them every two weeks but i can definitely incorporate them into my life once a month or so. Thank you guys.

I’ve been a client of Falon’s for about 2 years now — and me (and my hair) love her! What I love most is knowing she’s focused on the health of my hair and will be the first to tell me when I need a treatment and when I don’t. She’s great at color — I always leave with my hair looking amazing!!!

I highly recommend going to see Falon at Tina Pearson’s Hair Salon. She is very adamant about achieving and maintaining healthy natural hair through the use of different products and hairstyles, which I (and my hair) truly appreciate. I can come to her for a natural hairstyle (i.e. A twist out, a braided updo, etc.) or even a silk press. Every time I leave the salon, my hair looks healthy, shiny and stylish. For anyone looking for a new stylist, I would recommend that you schedule an appt with her today to work towards achieving your hair goals.

I did a little research and decided to take a chance with a new salon for my curls. I was also super emotional that day… grieving a recent loss of a loved one and hated my curls post a «Botox for your curls» treatment I had done last August. Robby was very attentive to my needs and also kept in mind that I was probably slightly irrational due to hormones. Lol. He spoke to me for about 15min then studied my hair both dry and wet before he did anything. I LOVE MY HAIRCUT! He did an amazing job and is clearly talented… he speaks «curls». Love and will return.

I’ve been going to Falon for two years now. She was at Honey Salon before and I followed her when she switched to this salon. She’s extremely knowledgeable and uses high-​quality products. She not only knows how to make your hair look good — she takes real care of it too, which is rare! I highly recommend booking your appointment with her

Love the Tina Pearson salon. Professional atmosphere, your appointment time is respected and the stylists including the owner, Tina, are awesome. They listen and give you what you want. They will make suggestions, but the customer’s needs come first. In addition to great stylists and Robby, who is an excellent colorist, they are also into hair care. I recommend this salon highly. I love Tina (great personality, authentic, fun!) and her cuts are unparalleled.
The business side of the salon, however, is poorly executed. Customer service could use some improvement. Pricing a la carte is too expensive.
In the past, my appointments by Tina were canceled with no warning on the same day. The last time I was in the salon, I was stuck underground waiting on a stalled train for 30 minutes. I didn’t have any reception but apologized and explained the delay. She seemed slightly irritated but that was understandable. I said that I could reschedule If it was a huge inconvenience. Instead of doing so, they begrudgingly helped me. One person shampooed and colored my hair, and applied a deep conditioner. Get this: they left me with wet hair for over an hour. It was rude and passive aggressive. Basically, another person came in to see Tina and she started her hair while I was under the steamer/​dryer. I finished under the dryer before Tina finishes shampooing the woman’s hair. I thought I was next but noooooo I was lied to and told that Tina was only going to blow the woman’s hair out real quick. A bold faced lie! She finished the woman’s shampoo, blow dry, trim and flat ironed hair and 1.5 hours later, told me to come to her chair. Now, I had to cancel my afternoon appointments because while I was a half hour late, I don’t expect to be there for over 4 hours and wait while another person arrived and got their entire head done while I waited with a plastic bag and my wet hair!
Disappointing on so many levels.

Pros:
— Robby is a skilled stylist. He is professional, seems very knowledgeable, and gave my hair the best color and cut I’ve ever had. He asked questions about what I wanted to accomplish, my routine, and recommended a plan of action. He used the info I provided to give me what I actually wanted and needed, instead of just what I asked for.
— Online scheduling is easy. I scheduled my service at about 11pm the night before my appointment.
— The salon itself is OK, it is not upscale, but not a hole in the wall either.
— They are concious of time — Robby helped me almost immediately, an assistant blow dried my hair while Robby helped someone else.
Cons: Only two MAJOR cons — Price and communication of the price.
I made an appointment for a single process color ($ 90). Robby told me he was going to do a demi-​perm instead ($ 65) right before he applied color to my hair, saying it would get the job done easier. I said OK. After my color and wash, Robby said that he was not going to let me leave with the ends of my hair looking the way they did. I said OK. He started cutting without discussing how much it would cost so I (foolishly) thought the cost would be minimal. Not so.
I went to the register expecting to pay about $ 90 — 100, with cut included. My total was $ 195. Turns out, they charged me $ 65 to color, $ 65 to wash, blow dry, and flat iron, and $ 65 for the cut.
My experience with Robby until that point was so good that I wouldn’t have minded paying $ 90 for the demi perm and $ 65 for the cut. But charging me separately to wash, blow dry, and flat iron was just offensive. Do they really encourage customers to have color applied and walk out with wet, unstyled hair? I paid, didn’t tip, and walked away in shock.
Since this issue is a common thread in the salon’s reveiws, I would suggest that they ensure their customers know exactly how much each service will cost before it is rendered. I’d also reconsider charging extra for a service (wash/​dry) that is essential to performing another (color).
I would come back for Robby again and again, but cannot bring myself to pay $ 200 in this salon for a color and cut. For $ 200, they should remodel the shop (including flattering lighting in the bathroom), train professional receptionists who make eye contact, inquire about the quality of service and offer to make follow up appointments, give a serious head massage during shampoo, offer complimentary chocolates and at least one glass of sparkling wine, and provide at least two superficial compliments about my appearance before I leave. I’d even tip 20%.

The Tina Pearson salon delivers every time! My stylist Robbie was very professional and gave me a beautiful cut and press. In addition to my hairstyle, I was also asked about my hair goals and given a schedule of how to attain the results.
I appreciate that although I wasn’t her client Tina greeted me by name and was very engaging.
The assistants are also talented and pleasant also.
It is truly a pleasure to patronage a salon that epitomizes style and class.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite salons in the city! They produce great quality hair each time, are versatile stylists and know exactly what you want in terms of an end result. They have a good system going on with the hair washers and preparing your hair for the next step of your service and stick fairly closely to their appointment times. Robbie Wilson did a fantastic job recently giving me the exact ombré I wanted and cutting my hair into a chic layered style. He is also a whiz with his technique for straightening hair, especially from the roots, and cares for your hair with the appropriate level of product to help it withstand City humidity. Tina has done my hair before too and done a great job. I will definitely be back on a regular basis. My only suggestion is to ensure they have sufficient product available. It seems some of the shampoos and conditioners were running low.

This is a great salon, especially for natural or transitioning clients! I recently decided to transition to natural hair and was recommended to this salon by a very reputable stylist. I was able to quickly and easily book an appointment with Tina Pearson (the salon owner) within the week.
I appreciate the time she took to ask questions about my hair, what i was looking to achieve long-​term as well as the services I wanted that day (haircut and styling). Overall the services, facilities and customer service of Tina and her assistant were excellent! They were friendly, provided lots of tips and advice on natural styling and the end results of the actual service was great.
I will definitely visit the salon again! The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is that the pricing is a bit high for my budget but they do give you full disclosure on pricing before you go.

I’m a Native New York. I’ve been to tons of salons in NYC for everything ranging from roller sets, blow dry, weaves to my now short do! For someone who has frequented salons for the past 35 years, Tina Pearson salon is amongst the best! Here’s why:
1. The owner is a true professional and expert in the field. Any issues I’ve had with my hair and/​or scalp are resolved by her. Not created by her or her team, just simply fixed.
2. The salon is expensive, but so are all the other boutique salons on Lexington Avenue. My pockets and I rest easier knowing that I will at least have some kind of fresh fruit, dark chocolate and tea/​wine/​champagne before I leave the experience.
3. The products work well on my hair and scalp and of equal importance, they are available right at the salon. I don’t have to go and search for the items I need at another store/​salon.
4. All of my haircuts have been easy and a pleasure to style and maintain – post the salon visit. That’s what is most important to me. I want to know that whatever the master stylist is doing to my hair while I’m sitting in her chair, it can be replicated (at least somewhat) by me when I try it at home.

Good services but too expensive. Overcharged for a hair cut ($ 75) — not including a wash/​straighten. I won’t be returning.
I booked a wash/​straighten for $ 65. During my appointment, I requested a trim (a TRIM, not a CUT), which most salons will include in their prices. I ultimately paid $ 146: $ 65 for what I initially requested and $ 75 for a cut. That’s absolutely outrageous. It’s not like they cut 10″ off — it was just a trim.

Why is it so hard to find reputable black salons in this city? I really wanted to write something positive about this salon and its owner… But that’s not going to happen. First it is necessary to read my first review to understand my drama with this place.
I was finally able to get a hold of the owner, Tina Pearson. After playing phone tag we finally started communicating thru email, I explain to her my ordeal and her response was, «we are a small salon», there was no apology, no remorse on her part… She offered me two options either get she would do my hair or she would sent me the money back. I chose to do my hair (I wanted to give them another change), Tina decided to get a hold of Unilocal to see why I still had a deal as she had ended the promotion over a year ago, mysteriously she can’t find my deal, after a month of emails she tells me I have to get a hold of Unilocal to get my money back as she doesn’t have it; only later to realize that she did have it… I guess she then decided to review her reviews on Unilocal to see others opinions of the salon. She saw mine and sent me an email about how I should be gracious and take the email down! I replied to her that my review was my experience, I wasn’t going to take it down, that after a month of emailing she sent me to Unilocal,only for her to find that I had indeed had a current voucher, and not once did she apologize for any of this.
Tina THEN apologizes and we agreed on returning my money… It’s been over a month and I still haven’t received my money, I’ve emailed, I’ve called and nothing. The problems with the salon aren’t the staff, the problem is TINA!!! Tina does not care about new clients, I doubt she cares about her current clients either; I have never seen and been dealt with such unprofessional behavior from its owner. Where is my money? What can’t I get it back?
I’m not sure how she has been in this business for so long… Oh that’s right, all the staff there are independent contractors meaning they pay her to use spaces. She doesn’t need clients her“staff” and their customers pay for the salon to remain open.
Tina Pearson is completely unprofessional and unorganized. This isn’t about money but the principles… Who is she to ask me to take down my review when all of this happened? Who is she to take my MONEY for services I haven’t received? And who the hell is she to agree to a refund and decide not to hold up her end… I feel sorry for those contractors having to deal with someone who doesn’t care, I’m mad at myself for wasting my time, and most importantly I’m embarrassed her… A lying, deceiving unprofessional woman.
I’m done with this shameless woman, in the end my hair was not done, my money was not returned, and I got a hold of the Better Business Bureau:) I’m done with this drama, I’m done with the unprofessional behavior, I’m done with the emails and she better not get a hold of me and ask me to be gracious and remove this post.
