LABOR DISCORD? Bread can be ok if used right away. But the service! This franchise runs on auto pilot & customer service is always sub par. Thankfully Minneapolis has so many superior options like Rustica etc. Today we were served by a very unpleasant young woman while her colleague was on a clearly personal call crouched below the counter as if because you couldn’t see him you wouldn’t hear him or mind if customers were waiting to be served!!! Definitely in need of management oversight or higher wages to attract better talent. Also beware that, depending on their schedules, some days the charities arrive & empty the shelves hours in advance of closing.

My significant other had me drop her off as she visited a bridal store near by. Well, the bridal store was out of her budget so we just visited the shops around Edina. Well, I managed to sneak out from the Paper Source store to grab some bread. I had the raisin bread which was the best I had in a long time. We ended up eating ¼ of the loaf in the car as we went to the other places on her list.

All the kosher fresh baked breads! I love the pretzel rolls. You definitely want to try the pretzel rolls. There is always a line of people coming in and out of here but the wait is never very long. These Edina soccer moms know exactly what they want and go in and get out fast!

Breadsmith is carb heaven.
You need bread, rolls, muffins, brownies, pastries, scones, or babka? Come here, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
What I love most about Breadsmith is that they offer «regular sized» and «small sized» options for most of their products. I put this in quotes because the «regular sized» brownie is easily equivalent to 4 brownies.
No cookies here, though. You’ll have to get your cookie monster cravings fixed elsewhere.
Scones were good, but dry (possibly due to not containing any milk?) and didn’t have the right crumble that a proper scone should.

Chocolate babka was just ok. I guess for dairy free, it’s as good as it gets. I was hoping for the Zabar’s version. I sampled the lavash and it was very good.

everything here is DAIRY-​FREE!!! (kosher) If you can’t eat dairy, you’ll understand my excitement at finding an entire bakery of things I am able to eat. Let me highlight some of the best:
On Saturdays, they have pecan caramel rolls. They taste buttery, a flavor I haven’t been able to experience in 12 years! Giant ones and small ones, gooey and flavorful. It’s a rare week I don’t buy one.
Their frosted cinnamon rolls are delicious. Very sweet icing, and the perfect amount of cinnamon and sweetness throughout. Oftentimes I mean to just eat half and save the other half for later, but it’s difficult to stop!
Chocolate babka… mmmm…though the caramel and cinnamon rolls overshadow the babka, i think.
Pumpkin bread is a winner, too. They give out samples and plenty of smiles, and they never make me feel like a sow for walking out of there with an armful of baked goodness.
If you want to fatten up for winter’s chill, I highly recommend doing it the Breadsmith way.

Before you enter you are already aware that you’re about to hit the jackpot. Not even the next door Starbucks can mask the amazing aroma of breads and pastries as you round the corner to enter Breadsmith.
My first trip here was specific for buns I was in need of for dinner with my parents but I quickly realized they span not just a large assortment of breads but cookies, a variety of pastries and quite possibly the largest pretzels I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. I was back again last weekend for ciabatta bread which was equally as wonderful as my first purchase — — so fresh, large and reasonably priced.
I’ll be a regular here from now on!

Hearth baked goodness and tons of varieties of bread from French Broule to Rustic Italian to Ciabatta to muffins and rolls. Be sure to get one of their free «frequent buyer» cards where your 10th loaf is free.
Reasonable prices and lots of friendly service in this small shop adjacent to Starbucks at 50th and France.

I stumbled upon this place while walking around Edina for a bit of window shopping and I was immediately attracted to this baker. It looks like a proper baker, one that bakes his own bread and I decided I had to go in and have a look. So I went in and I spent about 10 minutes looking at the selection trying to decide what I should get. I finally settled on a greek olive ciabatta and a walnut-​raising roll.
Well the ciabatta was awesome, almost a focaccia kind of bread, crisp and a bit oily and salty: delicious. The walnut-​raisin roll was also pretty good, hearty and a bit sweet.
I will try not to go to Edina to often, otherwise I’d be forced to buy something and that would end up showing on the scale…

It’s pretty hard not to walk in this place when you smell the aroma of fresh baked bread outside. Then you walk in and you see rows of sweets, breads and pastries. Hard to resist! They are always generous about handing out samples too if you’re not sure what you want.
It’s a small bakery so during the holidays or peak seasons you may even see a line forming outside to place or pick up your order. The great thing is that you can call ahead if you want to reserve anything. They’ll have your items set aside for you. For frequent shoppers there are also «punch» cards.
It’s a good thing this place isn’t next door because if it was I know I’d go there way too often. One of my favorite bakeries!

I don’t go here often enough, but this review is more about the service than the bread. My company has a French club and they scheduled a tour of the bakery after work one day. The owner met us and gave us a tour of the back, told us about the equipment (all imported from France), then had some dough ready for us to roll out and shape.
We made a few baguettes each then he put them in the oven to bake, talked to us some more, answered all of our questions, then sat at Starbucks with us while we waited for the bread to cook. During the whole process they provided samples for us to try of their muffins and other breads.
When the bread was done, we left with the bread we made, plus goodie bags, and they ended up with at least a few more regular customers.

I was expecting fresh bread but then again, I was there in the afternoon. I wasn’t too impressed with their baguettes. That was all I had. I’m a huge bread person, so I have to have mine as fresh as possible. This was a disappointment.

After enjoying a line of coke, you likely have seen (in movies or life), the participant collecting remaining powder on a finger and rubbing it on their gums…
After eating a piece of Breadsmith’s cinnamon bun, I did the same with the remaining sticky goodness on my finger

Oh, their normal bread is damn addictive too.

Just discovered that they have mini-​babkas. deeeliissshhh. the chocolate banana muffin was pretty decadent as well. If I’m in Edina again in the morning, I definitely stop by this place for a sample (good sized, btw) and a treat.
