There are a few places in, Central New Jersey that offers authentic Indian food. This is eh but not cutting it. I want to walk out of an Indian restaurant with the urge to pee from the gallon of water I managed to drink down. Not an «Oh that was a spicy bite“I want to say that on all of my bites! Service is generally friendly but there is a line with being professional and just not knowing what your doing. Well, some have just that. I have been there numerous times just to get the curry which I find actually spicy. Rice is rarely stuck together showing the freshness. Very pretty ambiance and friendly area. Buffet was more of a let down. Decided to show a family member who also has an interest in Indian food, I felt very embarrassed of the sub-par choices and food. But I might just might be back for dinner.

I have been meaning to try this place out for a while and finally did. Mirchi used to be located in a small strip mall but recently moved to a larger spot which used to be an upscale italian restaurant. The place is super clean and wheelchair accessible. But the best part was the food, while I am not a vegetarian I love most meatless southern Indian dishes. I ordered the Dosa Masala, chili Naan and Mango lassi. The Dosa was very tasty without being too spicy, the outside crust was just crunchy enough. The potato and spice filling was great when combined with the chutney and yogurt sauce. The naan was very good and a bit softer than at Khyber Grill(but every naan is different). The mango lassi was way too sweet for me, but I have yet to have one that isn’t. I see some negative reviews but this new spot may make the difference for Mirchi!

If I could give half a star or zero if I would. I am Indian and I have eaten at different Indian joints in the Nj area and this place has the worst food ever!!! We were here at this Mirchi for lunch yesterday and boy what a huge mistake that was. It’s a good thing we live close by as I had the worst case of food poisoning. I should ask them for a refund!!! We both were wondering why the Tandoori chicken was so oily! Last but not least the food was so tasteless YuCK is the word I would use! Wasted $ 50 of our hard earned money! Seriously give us our money back!!! Will never ever set food in this place again!!!

Awful overpriced food. You should see their aloo masala to gauge how awful it is. Dosas are dry. How can one take the same setup that was once Moksha and make it look and feel like a stinky joint is beyond me.

Definitely NOT a bang for your buck! Price is too great for such average food. C’mon now. This place will not be successful. You don’t offer high prices for average food — that simple. Tried dinner here only… don’t know much about the buffet. Also, I told them spicy… and obviously it was no where close to being spicy. I had to eat the raw peppers to make the food spicy — which i regretted because those things were wayyyy too spicy.:-( Anyways, try it once and you’ll forget about it.

On president day’s we were here for lunch. One of my friends suggested this place as they have grand buffet with 40 items on third Sunday of every month. Luckily the other friend made a reservation ahead and we saved the time without standing in the queue. The restaurant was packed and they were lot of customers waiting for their turn. The ambiance seems to be looking pretty good as the restaurant open recently and I felt little bit noisy. Before reviewing about the food, I am disappointed the way they arranged the buffet. They might have space constraints, but for a customer(referring to non-Indians) who walks into an Indian restaurant will be in confusion about what to eat first. Coming to the food, they have a lot of items consisting of both veg and non-veg. For appetizers we had Veg cutlet, mirchi idly, chat, vada, Chicken lollipop, Chicken cutlet and chicken nuggets. I had never eaten such a tasty chicken lollipop in us. I am uncontrollable and ate as many as I can! They do have 4 to 5 varieties of Vegetarian curries, veggie noodles and I didn’t taste those. Couple of different style chicken curries and mutton curry made of baby goat also added to the main course. We have multiple choices for desserts section comprising of fruit jelly, custard and Andhra style rava laddu and to my surprise we had kaddu ka halwa(Bottle gourd sweet) and this is the first time ever I had seen this sweet in the Indian buffet. No issue with the service and the price is reasonable only for those who can do justice to their appetite!!!

Come for the lunch buffet, you definitely won’t be disappointed! The buffet has lots of options and they are all super flavorful! As a vegetarian, this place is incredible, as the majority of the options are veggie! The desserts are also so good, I love the dudh pak(not sure of the non gujarati word) but its basically pan fried little vermicelli noodles in a thick heavy cream with cardamom and other amazing flavors. Get it! I also love that they have uttapam as well as naan, and their rassam and sambar were super good. Definitely come for the lunch buffet!

When you combine O.K. food, O.K. service and O.K. ambiance, you get an O.K. place, right? Wrong! You get a 2-star place. Not that anything is terribly wrong with this place(except one of the waiters saying, «Why can they not order more? They just ordered this?») but if you are in «Little India» — Oak Tree road on Edison, there is really no reason why you would have to go to this place. I mean, come on, you got Ming, Mughal, Saravana, Mithaas. We ordered the Veg. Biriyani and Ennai Kathirikkai(Spiced up egg plant, deep fried in oil, with gravy). Both were decidedly sub-par. They were possibly left overs from the lunch menu. Really lacking in flavor, taste and even fragrance. Makes you really want to pry open the kitchen doors to see who’s cooking! Anyhow, life is too short. Maybe they will get their act together. But, until I see a couple of positive reviews for this place, I am not going back.

The 5-star is for the biryani and Biryani only… believe the other users had bad experience with other dishes. must try place for Biryani though…

its a hole in a wall type of hotel. long narrow walkway is being used as a restaurant. we went for a sunday lunch buffet, and there were 2 vegetarian items including rice and 4 non veg items. boiled mixed vegetable with no spices is one of those veg items! waiters were good, but the food wasnt. there was hardly any food to eat. I paid 6 dollars a person with a groupon, but the food isnt worth even 1 dollar. it was all stale food and they are focussing on catering wholesale rather than a restaurant business. so stay away from this.

Most awe full food with good service! Ordered Chinese and Samosa for our lunch! Bad in texture, look and taste! Horrible taste of Samosa!
