Boo Han Market

I love their sweet bean fish shape cake– Taiyaki. I took my mom there to shop and we were able to get everything on the list and we will definitely be coming back. They have good produce, lots of kitchen stuff, food, candies, fresh seafood. Prices are pretty good. They have a little restaurant inside– haven’t tried it yet.

I have to make multiple trips here on different days of the week to get everything I want. One time they were sold out of Sundae (Korean blood sausages) and the other time. The dough wasn’t ready to
make the hotteok (sweet pancake).
But food here is so good. The blood sausages are sooo good and made fresh. The Korean desserts — sweet pancake and red bean fish shape dessert, Korean sushi is all made fresh here.
Bring cash if you are only getting one or two items!

I love my Korean food as well as their culture. What I love coming here for is their banchans that are made right in their own kitchen here. They have great produce, meats, noodles, instant soups, a small restaurant on the side. It’s awesome!
Prices are very reasonable. Staff is always nice. They also have a little coffee machine for quick espresso (insert a quarter in that and voila! I got coffee fix!).
This place is located in the same location with Seattle Deli and Thanh Bros. here in Edmonds.
Plenty of parking and opens at 0900.

This is for the restaurant inside Boohan grocery store. You don’t go here for the décor, but for the tasty home-​style korean food. I usually get the jjamppong: tasty broth, good noodles and ingredients. Gotten most of the things on the menu and all tastes pretty good. Oh and we get the hot friend bean buns for dessert!

They put a sign on the wall saying that they make soondae every morning (four times a day).
When I visited at 11:10am (10 min after open) and ordered soondae. It was very clear that soondae was made yesterday. The blood in it looked much darker than fresh soondae and the smell was worse.
There was a lot of soondae on their shelves and all of them looked the same.
I don’t understand why they put such sign on the wall.
By the way Rabbokki was fine.

A Review for the Small Korean/​American Sushi Stand inside Boo Han.
They make Fresh Kim Bap either in Vegetables only, ham, beef, or tuna. Two long handrolled kim bap for $ 3 — $ 5. Very Fresh since they sell them quickly and make them infront of you.
I also enjoy their hot fried red bean bun shape like fishes.
I try to stop by during lunch and grab to go or on my way home from work whenever i am too lazy to cook.
They are closed on Mondays.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this location yet! I’m a huge fan of Korean culture and Korean food, so this place is one of my favorite places to pick up fresh cooking from the bakery and other things. They always have many banchan (side dishes) to choose from and their japchae is super delicious! This location is also much cleaner than your average Asian market. I highly recommend this location if you know, want, and/​or love Korean groceries!

A Korean grocery store that actually employs nice people. Weird, but true. There is this one cashier lady in her mid-40’s with a perm who always smiles and says hello. She is polite and pleasant. I think she remembers me, now that I’ve been in quite a few times.
Anyway, they have a more thanadequate setlection of Korean food. The produce is perfect and cheap for making any Korean dish! They also have a huge ramen section, which you must check out if you, like me, consider it one of the four basic food groups. They also make their own banchan, as well as various soups and stews. Their kimchi is good too, but I try to make my own as much as possible because it’s so much cheaper. The butcher counter offers well-​trimmed meat. While it may be more expensive than, say, Hau Hau in the ID, it is worth it because there’s almost no additional trimming you have to do at home.
Free calendars every January. (Koreans are weirdly obsessed with calendars and seem to have one in every room in the house.)

This place is not as good as H mart, it is tiny and looks not so clean.

Definitely some interesting things in here. I didn’t get much. I was with a few people that did some shopping. I got some veggies and fruit. Not the hugest selection of fresh produce, but seems tons of other things to munch on. By the time we got there the little restaurant area was closed. Lots of good looking treats. It’s kinda far from my house, so I probably won’t come often unless with some friends.

Would have thought I’d have written this before, but Boo Han’s cool. I’m not here nearly as much as 99 Ranch, but I do stop here practically every time I hit up Phở Than Brothers (located in the same strip mall), Seattle Deli, or Country Farms.
This is much smaller than 99 Ranch, across the street, but some prices are def cheaper over here. Meats are nice here and I always find cheap oyster and hoisin sauces, too! Less selection but some great deals keep this place fantastic! I def enjoy browsing here more, as it just feels more «relaxed» than 99 Ranch or H Mart. I do wish they had the cheap kim chi that H Mart has.
Even if you just happen to be hitting up a spot next door for sushi, phở, or the bakery, swing in here and peruse the selection! It’s kind of hidden, but you’ll find some grocery gems!

Review isn’t actually for the grocery store, since it looks pretty average (3*s). But this place is worth a detour for the sweet korean pancakes! (Hotteok) I had never had one before but wandered in during the snow storm and was delighted to find that they sell taiyaki (fish shaped red bean cakes) and rice balls. Curiosity got the best of me and I bought a pancake ($ 1!) and have never looked back.
Hotteok is like a scrumptious cinnamon bun studded with nuts, without the hassle of all that bready roll. Just gooey filling inside a fried pancake. (I still make 5+ mile detours to come here) Try it!

This Korean smallish supermarket has a pretty interesting instant noodle aisle. They have some varieties I’ve never seen elsewhere, and being in the middle of the Korean supermarket central zone on 99, that’s saying something.

Jeez where’s the love people?
I’ve had nothing but really good experiences here. – 4 ½ stars!
I got help from anyone I asked – and believe me, I’m one of those people who ask A LOT!
So I found awesome fish sauce here, fresh dates! FRESH DATES! They are like little teeny brown apples – sweet and weird – my kinda fruit.
The lemongrass was a little tired out (and I told the produce guy – hey when you’re my age you can get away with murder…)
I found the awesome stainless steel Korean chopsticks I was looking for! WOOOOHOOO!
And I found these amazing paring knives that are $ 1.50 EACH! Guess what everyone in my family is getting for Christmas?
Also I got a half bag of ‘KAKI’ or fresh persimmon – delicious. There is a great selection of Kim Chee of course and a lot of wheat noodles. I bought a red bean fish pastry that was hot off the grill — It tastes just like red bean paste on pancakes – it was good. The fresh radish selection is great. There are radishes the size of your head there. My fave are the monster green onions. I’ve become accustomed to using them in everything from salads to soups. The chives and cilantro are CHEAP.
It’s not a chain, it looks very local and family run. Give it a try!

The korean food I had in this grocery store was the worst i’ve ever had. I don’t complain about my food, but I should have during my visit and demanded a refund.
I ordered kalbi tang, which came out as dumpling soup broth with pieces of ribs and eggs in the soup. Stunned that they tried to pass this off as kalbitang.

I’m a big fan of this market. I shop at all of the other ones also — Ranch99, H Mart and HT Market. Somehow, I enjoy going to Boo Han a bit more than the other ones — it’s like a family market. Today I had a tasty Korean pancake with brown sugar syrup on it. Very tasty. Lots of good stuff to shop for at this market and lots of Korean products. Today bought some pomegranates and Korean noodles (that were both cheaper than Ranch99) and spinach. Contrary to another review — the veggies were pretty fresh (maybe mileage varies based on timing). Also bought some seju here.

If you need something quick and don’t have time to goto Ranch 99 or H Mart, Boo Han works. It’s clean and organized enough, but as other reviewers have said — there are better options. Their veggies don’t look the freshest (all though I have never purchased any there).
I mainly go for their selection of snacks, candy and beverages. For awhile it was the closest place for me to get those delicious Hawaiian canned drinks. They always have a fun selection of snacks to choose from, and since I understand nothing on the packaging — always quite an adventure. They are cheap enough to where it doesn’t matter if I get a bad one once in awhile. They have a cheap selection of kitchen/​dining items as well.
Things to note:
1. They only do cash back on purchases above $ 10.00 which is reasonable
2. They have an ATM inside
3. Most of their items don’t have any english — so bring a friend that can read it or prepare to take a risk!

Upon our trip to Seattle Deli, we stop here to pick up a few items. The store is pretty clean and organized. The fruit and veggie section is not the freshest, but I have not needed to get any here. They carry a lot of Korean items, which is good thing, because I have been to a lot of Korean markets that carry more Japanese items than Korean, hence why I mentioned that fact. We bought their deli items like Jap Chae (glass noodles), which was pretty good, along with Pajeon (seafood pancake). Of course nothing beats fresh pancakes, but we were in the mood for something quick. It was filled with lots of seafood. Was going to pick up some Soju, but ended up picking some Citron tea, I know mad hard partyers to the max here. ;-D
The staff are all friendly and nice. You must spend over 5 dollars to use your debit or credit cards. Great little big market.

In a pinch, this place will do. Granted its no Ranch 99, but really who is? And while it is a lot closer to us than Pal-​do, the selection isn’t quite up to par.
They do have Sac-​Sac, my son’s favorite Korean grape drink available in a 12-​pack, and MSG-​free Kim-​chi, but that isn’t really saying much.
I do need to try the deli/​restaurant they have inside, from the looks of the menu I should add another star, but until I eat there, 3 will have to do…

I dont know why ive waited so long to do a review about the boo-​han market. I used to come here quite a bit, now that im up north, not so much. Let me tell you, the prices here are a little cheaper than Ranch 99 across the street for items such as oil, sauces, and kitchenwares. Not that huge of a selection like the Ranch, but big enough to keep you looking around at what they have. They have a bigger sake selection than Ranch does too. A lot of the items are not clearly labeled in english so you kind of have to look at the labels really closely to see what you are getting. It is a good place to come for cheap cooking utensils and knives. Since knives are meant to wear themselves out, i buy them from here. You can get decent sharp chopper knives for under 3 bucks. Dont pass this place up just because it is small.
P.S They are building a Seattle Deli right next door!
