Love this place!
I have been to Modern Nails several times and had everyone there give me a mani and/​or pedi. Consistently great! My shellac lasts longer than any place I have previously had my nails done. Very clean, friendly staff, great work! I highly recommend.

Been to many different salons all over town but this has to be one of my favorites. All the gals here are great at what they do. Seems like whenever Im here they’re busy, so be sure to make an appointment prior! They offer complimentary water, and their salon is extremely clean!
Last but not least, their regular polish colors are great but their shalac choices are beyond beautiful. Highly recommended!

Been checking out different nail salons and this one I love! I called in an hour after they opened and they were nice enough to let me come in at the same exact time I called. They are so friendly! I showed one of the ladies a picture on Pinterest of the acrylic nails I wanted and she was able to copy the exact picture. She was very nice and the environment was laid back. The price for a Acrylic Full Set is pricey but it is worth it for sure. Just let her know in advance the shape and the length and your set to go or even show them a picture of the design, shape or length and they will copy it exactly. The service was great, the place was clean and I highly recommend coming in for sure but make an appointment ahead of time

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I got my eyebrows waxed and they were completely botched! Aside from the staff being rude, my eyebrows were far from what I asked for. In addition to that I left with skin torn from my eyelid and above my brow so raw it was almost bleeding due to the woman doing my brows either leaving the wax on too long or using wax not hot enough. I have gotten my nails done here before and they were definitely below par. I repeat, do not go here!

While my nails turned out decent I won’t be returning back. Their pushy attitude was one way to keep the bad service alive. They will keep asking you to do additional services you decline throughout your stay. Anything to get $ 10 more dollars out of you. «It’s just $ 10». Not relaxing at all and a lot of unnecessary bs. They don’t seem to understand that if you value your customers and treat them well then maybe they will return. I have no desire to return back with my «punch card».

Very nice ladies– they did a good, thorough job with my nails. They took their time cleaning, scrubbing, massaging, and painting. Very reasonable rates — $ 30 for Mani and spa pedi and $ 45 for shellac and spa pedi. Only drawbacks were that we had to wait quite a while before the technician came to us– my water was quite tepid at that point. Also, they tried to upsell the services, but that’s not a big deal. Definitely would go back when in the area again.

I am usually easy going. However, Trisha was very pushy and wanted me to get a pedicure although I told her several times I didn’t need or want one. Finally said «fine.» She then brought a price sheet and wanted me to get the deluxe for $ 15 more. I said no. But I had to say no at least 3 times. The pedicure was relaxing (different lady). She really spent a lot of time massaging and making my feet pretty. I get my acrylics done in Wallingford and I love them. However it’s too far. Trisha said they did a horrible job and insisted I get a complete brand new acrylic set versus a fill. I usually pay $ 25 for fills which includes tip. This time I got a brand new acrylic set (polish was terrible I had to come home and repaint a few nails) and a pedicure I didn’t want. I spent $ 75. The rest of the day I was so grumpy because I felt wronged. I was pissed! They need to know that customers value trust and honesty in a business to recommend it to others and frequent.

The girl I used to go to here is gone. She did an amazing job. Now whenever I go, I get horrible service. They’ll leave me sitting while they help 20 other customers when I was there first. The last straw was when I was sitting at a dryer over 10 minutes for gel nails. Definitely doesn’t take that long. They also frequently cut my skin, or go too hard/​long with the drill and burn me. The punch card was nice, but not worth it.

Friendly staff and the only salon I’ve ever found that can do my shellac right so it lasts a full two weeks. Thanks for being amazing!

This nail shop is wonderful. I have been coming here for a year and have always had excellent service. I’m writing this review because I recently tried two other nail shops closer to my house because this shop was a bit farther than I wanted to travel. Not coming here for two months, boy was that a mistake. The 40 minute drive here is worth it. The woman that work here provide excellent customer service, they maintain cleanliness and most importantly they go a great job. They are a full service nail shop providing manicures, acrylic and gel nails, pedicures, and waxing. There prices are reasonable and competative. Thank you ladies for all you do. If you haven’t tried them, you should, there great!

Since the remodel modern nails is now run by new staff. I am regular costumer and the salon now offers free wi-​fi. The wi-​fi is locked and I was not offered a password. I was there sitting in waiting area, when another customer came in after me and was served first. People are no longer offered a free drink or a hot towel. I am very disappointed with this change in service.

I would give my pedicure a 5 star rating, but my Brazilian waxing 0 stars…
The pedicure was great… timely, no negative issues like cutting too short or painful foot scrubbing. She took her time, made my toes look pretty and did a nice job with the polish itself. I like the «frequent flyer» card too (free pedicure after you get a certain number of stamps.)
I came back two weeks later for the wax. It was very reasonably priced, usually $ 40 but she spontaneously charged me $ 35 because it was my first visit. Just moved here and looking for a new place, but this will not be it. She used the type of wax that is peeled off with a strip of fabric, and was good about making sure it was all gone and smoothed with oil afterwards. But I was disturbed that they didn’t offer any anti-​ingrown hair serum either in the moment or for purchase, I’m running low. Anyway, worse problems and basically a hat trick of trouble: First, the patch of hair I asked her to leave is not centered– it’s clearly unaligned and off kilter! and there are still plenty of hairs in random places here and there. Second, a small child walked into the room during my visit while I was naked from the waist down splayed out on the table and stood there staring :(And third, the wax was SUPER hot; I kept begging her to blow on the applicator to cool it a bit before using it, but no matter how many times I winced and Unilocaled, she’d apologize and then go right on with the scalding.
Ugh.

I think this place, Modern Nails and Spa is great! I have been to a few places in my past. I don’t get a pedicure very often, at most once a month or once every 6 – 8 weeks and never in the winter. But when I do, I like the place to smell good or have no odor. I have a problem with smelling the acrylic nails I think. The stuff that is used to do manicures has much more of a toxic odor than usual in all the other places I’ve been to. So while I don’t get manicures, I get pedicures and they do a great job and are extremely friendly. Especially the man who owns it. And he is pretty funny to boot!
I have always had a great experience there! Oh and they do waxing and many other services as well. I have my eyebrows waxed once in awhile as well there.
I completely recommend Modern Nails and Spa!

This place is open on Sundays — major win! I was a little surprised when a gentleman working there was assigned to do my mani/​pedi, but he did a great job! A gal did the actual painting, but he did everything else. The leg and arms massages were worth the cost all by themselves.
The only thing I didn’t like was the chairs — they are very upright. Silly, but it matters when your’e sitting there for an hour!
My husband occasionally sends me out of the house for a mani/​pedi — and this will definitely be my new go-​to place!

Service was excellent. I went in to get my acrylic nails removed, which is an unpleasant process for both the manicurist and the customer. The lady who did it was very nice, constantly asking me «are you okay?» because sometimes it hurts. She was very considerate. They didn’t soak my hands in acetone, too, which is nice as some places have in the past. The place was clean, their chairs were comfy, everyone spoke understandable English. Plus, punch cards! I can’t remember how many times you have to go there for a free pedi, but omg! Cool. I will be back.

BEWARE– do not go here. The lady who did my nails rushed to get to the next customer, even though, that customer has someone already working on her nails. She carelessly cut my cuticles and cut it to deep on 3 of my fingers. Spare yourself the pain and go to a different place.

Typical ‘chop shop’ type nail salon. The gal who did my pedicure rushed through it and the massage was only of my calves, not my feet, and not very good to boot. I was impressed when I saw she was wearing gloves, until I realized she didn’t change them when she was done with my pedicure. She simply moved onto the next customer without changing gloves or anything. Gross! What, then, is the point of wearing gloves? Apparently to protect her own hands from us, not us from her. Hmmm. I also noticed she put her tools back into the same bucket she pulled them from, rather than a separate dirty bucket… which leads me to believe they use the same tools for everyone’s feet who come in.
I essentially paid for an electronic chair massage and someone to paint my nails. Their hygiene practices left something to be desired, which I cannot overlook. The staff was friendly, so I hope they can get their act together as far as cleanliness goes.

My mom and I went on Friday afternoon to get shellac. We got right in but were not able to sit next to each other, even though most chairs were open. They they had one person take the old polish off, one do the cuticles, and another do the painting. When it was my turn to get paint, I had to move chairs. They had to re-​do one of my nails when I was there because it got messed up since they did not let it cure under the light long enough before they dumped my hand into a bowl of alcohol. The nail hit the bottom of the bowl, and of course it chipped. When we left, the lady told us that if the polish started to lift to come back and she would fix it. This was a red flag because no one has ever said that before. At the end both of us had mess ups on our nails with bubbles or dings that they just tried to cover up.
Over the weekend, the polish on my thumb just started to peel off. A chunk lifted off of my nail. Two other nails had chipped already. I returned on Monday to get it fixed. I walked in and sat down and they fixed three nails. They were not happy that I returned and were not very nice.
Yesterday, the nail polish started doing the same thing again. I have multiple chips and it has come off on a nail. I saw my moms nails today and she has a finger without nail polish too. This gel manicure was a WASTE OF MONEY. We will never go back. We get shellac a lot of this was by far the WORST.

My mother-​in-​law, sister-​in-​law, niece, daughter and I walked in around noon on a friday. There was only 1 other customer at the time so we were all attended to quickly. There were 2 mani/​pedis, an acrylic overlay and the 2 little girls got their nails and toes painted.
Everyone was very pleased with the service they received and the girls were thrilled to be treated like big girls. I am very happy with my acrylics. they look natural but I no longer have to fear breaking my nails at work all the time.
the salon was clean, the staff was friendly and professional and the prices were reasonable. they also have a little punch card that was like every 9^th fill or pedi was free.

This is the only nail salon I will go to, and I’m so glad I found it. Don’t let the fact that its off Aurora dissuade you (the salon near 145^th in shoreline… blatant front for ‘happy endings’…avoid!). The salon is clean, bright, and the staff is also very friendly and happy to see you.
The pedicures are reasonably priced, and they do a great job massaging the lower leg — my husband even likes going now because he loves the foot rub. The hot towel wraps tend to be just a little too hot, but obviously, they cool down quickly… no biggie.
I usually have one of the younger girls, who love to chat and are very sweet, but the last time I had a gentleman. Didn’t think he was a good… didn’t say anything, and cut a nail way too short and it was throbbing for well over a week.
The best part, IMO, they have a frequent buyer stamp card. I get pedicures maybe every 4 – 6 weeks to pamper myself anyways, which adds up to getting a freebie for something I would be getting anyways.
