Paws In Paradise

The groomers here are absolutely wonderful. We brought two of our foster dogs here for grooming that were actually from a hoarding case and so they were filthy and I mean FILTHY… covered in poop, dirt, caked on their fur, etc. The two shepherds were very scared but Paws in paradise staff were willing to work with them. They had just been neutered so it was a dry groom but they carefully shaved off what they had to leaving all the hair that they could, clipped nails, and throughout they were gentle with these scared dogs. I would highly recommend the groomers here as they are very competent and capable with dogs of all kind, from little easy dogs to big difficult dogs. Just look at the pictures and you can see how much they truly care and know what they are doing!

We adopted our cat from this location when this establishment was under the Adix name and different ownership. While it was Adix we brought in to have our cat shaved (very short trim, lion style). Adix always did a great job on the shave/​cut and our kitty was clean and smelled great.
I called in to set up an appointment and get a confirmation of the price since this place is now under new ownership. The woman who answered the phone said they had a new groomer who would need to call me back if I wanted to know the price. The new groomer called me back a day later and quoted me $ 20-​$ 30 more to do the same service we’ve had done a couple of times in the past. She said she wanted to bring up her prices to be comparable to other establishments. That’s a sudden and steep price increase. I don’t care what other establishments charge — what matters is what I’ve been charged since deciding to do business there three years ago and the huge difference in price now because of some new groomer. We last took our cat in a few months ago. Her tone of voice and communication wasn’t about the customer relationship we’ve established there, but solely on making a large profit. She didn’t care that we have been customers there for about 3 years and that a price increase that large seemed inappropriate. She didn’t offer a discount or anything as a courtesy. She said that vets charge a lot more for the same service — you’re not a vet or some upscale pet spa! At these rates and with this kind of customer service, I will not be doing business with them. In reading some of the other reviews on here, I see I am not the only one to have this type of negative experience following the business ownership change. It’s really too bad because we enjoyed going there and we were considering adopting another kitty from there.
It’s also in bad taste that the owner of this new business responds to unhappy reviewers with notes from their personal pet files with details of the business transactions… very nasty and unprofessional.

My response to Ginger from Paws in Paradise. I question the cleanliness of your establishment in order for my dogs to be smelling so foul after being bathed and only been boarded for a couple of days, not a week. We were told by your staff that our dogs could not be bathed on the day of pick up.
We know that Daisy, our Yorkie, is an escape artist that is why we went out of our way to mention it to your staff when we dropped them off. We did not get the impression that they were listening to us. We pay you to keep the dogs contained not for them or just one to be wondering around the kennel for an hour.
Our dogs stay home during the day and are not in contact with other dogs. They were not sick before we dropped them off…
Luckily we found an other groomer, Ashway pet supplies, great people and same staff ever every time we go.

I had such a good experience here last week that I had to write my first ever Unilocal review.
I have a (basically) feral Pomeranian who is the best gal ever. I am obsessed with my dogs and don’t trust them with many people. It takes a really special person to work with truly abused and frightened animals. I have had her groomed 3 times before Paws in Paradise and had a good experience. My experience at this place was AMAZING. I feel like I got great service and education. I was formerly the caretaker to a Rottweiler and Great Dane, so this Pomeranian world is totally new to me. Kelly Lynn was our groomer and she was gentle, very sweet, quick but also thorough. She told me things that will help me maintain my gals beautiful short hair for the future. Kelly took the time to take breaks with my dog and comforted her when she was really scared. I know that because she let me wait there in the room, which has been one of my requirements since she is so frightened. It was really great service and so I wanted to give a shout out. I would recommend this place for grooming and will definitely be back.

New owners, used to be Adix, used to be good, honest, dependable, efficient, providing fair and trustworthy and timely service for an economical price. When ownership changed the letter of introduction, sent to existing customers, stated specifically «no rate change». When I picked up my cats I learned for the first time that the price changed from $ 110 to $ 150, that’s a 36% increase, with no warning. Granted, a complaint of this practice brought me a drop to $ 130, which isn’t good business but is fair. However, when I opened the cat cages, once home, I learned that the five minutes of instructions I provided beforehand were ignored: the legs weren’t shaved and the head was partially shaved. (Instructions: shave entire body, EVERYTHING, from the collar to tips of toes and end of tail. When I called I was told to bring them back in for corrections, but received a second call explaining that the groomer doesn’t touch the legs (and can’t add hair back to the head, obviously). So no recourse, no offer to fix the «damage» — great introduction; be wary if you visit this establishment! I know the prices were increased due to competition, but service has to be comparable; not so in my experience.

So I have boarded my two boys at Paws in Paradise now twice, the second time for 16 days. They are little dogs, and scared of everything I was terrified of leaving them, and especially for 16 days! The first time I left them for three days. When I picked them up they were happy and fine. I said OK. They should be OK for a longer time.
I went to Norway in May 2015 and reluctantly dropped my babies off for the long haul but knew from my previous experience they would be ok. The Staff is totally nice and friendly. When I returned from my trip I picked them up and was shocked to see they didn’t even loose any weight! They are skiddish, and I was afraid they would not eat well with mom being gone so long. They were happy, plump and just looked great. The rates also are very competitive for the area, especially if you can kennel together you save $ 5 a night.
I recommend everyone Paws in Paradise now. My boys were well taken care of, we will be back next time I need to board them!

I’ve recently found out, through another Unilocal link, that this establishment (formerly Adix Bed and Bath) is now being run by Ginger Luke of Gingers Death Row pet rescue. That in and of itself is disturbing and explains a lot! I took my purebred Australian Shepherd in for a bath and grooming about four months after it switched ownership. I spoke with the new employee prior to leaving my dog, and she assured me that Aussie’s were tricky and needed special attention in how they were trimmed… it all sounded good, but something just wasn’t right. When I picked my dog up I was shocked at the amateur hack job they had performed AND she didn’t smell very clean at all! I really believe I could have done a better job myself! The place now has a sterile one way mirror feel to it, and the prices have gone up significantly. My first experience with Paws In Paradise was enough to keep me from ever returning, but finding out who the new owner is will absolutely keep me from going back. If you don’t know about Ginger’s price bloating for adoption animals and her checkered past as a business owner do your own research. You’ve been warned. She can be further scrutinized by searching Unilocal for «Ginger’s Pet Rescue.» «Run don’t walk away from this business,» would be my one liner regarding Paws In Paradise. Oh BTW, I used Adix Bed and Bath for the grooming and boarding needs of all my animals since 2006 with ZERO issues and good service. I’m not unopposed to change, just horrible people and bad service. This place has a cheap feel to it now and seems to be ramping up to nickle and dime every customer that comes through the door, and furthermore doesn’t seem to know how to groom animals on top of everything. Now if they can’t groom very well, then how are the animals being treated after they’re boarded? Ask them if you can tour the kennels to see where your animals will be boarded. I did over the phone after bringing my hacked dog home, and was told NO! I asked Mrs. Adix in 2006 if I could tour the facilities to see where my animals would be staying and she dropped what she was doing and gave me a fantastic tour right then and there. Things that make you say HMMMM. If you’re unwilling to let pet owners see the facilities where their animals will be staying, what does it say about your facilities? My main goal is to prevent any animals from becoming sick or killed as a result of greed or incompetence! My secondary goal is to point out that this new owner is not very well liked in the adoption community, and has turned adopting dogs into purely a money making venture. I strongly encourage anyone to do their own research and form their own opinions about this business, but I hope you’ll be armed with the knowledge of my experiences.

this seems to be a safe place that I’ve used for years. BUT it now has new owners. they have significantly jacked up the prices and you now have to PAY for a second feeding. yes, that’s right, if your dog gets an evening meal, you have to pay for that service. so I either pay for that or my dog sees other dogs eating and he isn’t. I know of NO other kennel that charges this much per day and then makes you pay extra for a bowl of costco kibble in the afternoon.

I took my dog here for the first time and he came back looking great! He got washed, nail trim, sanitary shave, paw trim, de-​shed, etc. He’s a German Shepherd, Golden Retreiver — 65 pounder. so he requires a lot of work.
The facility is huge! Very clean and friendly, competent staff. I love that they work with a pet shelter to host adoptions too. The price was right for the service and they accommodated my need for a walk-​in instead of appointment only.
He has dandruff so they used the right shampoo to get rid of it and they took time to make sure he was 100% dry. I’ve had other locations skimp and leave him still wet. He was a bit anxious when I dropped him off, but by the time I came back he was calm and happy! Very pleased with the service and will be back.
