Established in 1989.

Alpine Rock & Block is a family owned business and a respected leader in the industry. Since 1989 we have grown to over six acres of inventory at our retail location and entertain special orders. Alpine has one of the largest selections of Bark, River Rock, Stone and Decorative Rock in San Diego. We’re proud to provide materials to a large customer base such as the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Seaworld, City Schools and Parks and the US Navy.

Over the 20 years in the business and continuing to the present time, service has remained our top priority. We have cultivated a loyal base of customers by providing the best service in the industry. Our residential and contractor clients come to us for personalized attention, as well as the largest selection of stone in San Diego.

These guys are a small family owned and operated business. Everyone I worked with was very professional and understanding. I even gave them a hard time and quoted them up against other like RCP and they were still the best price.
I gave them a drawing of what I wanted to do and they helped me figure out how much of everything I needed to complete the job. Once my job was done I had a lot of left over materials and they were kind enough to only charge me a 15% restocking fee instead of the normal 25%.
I would recommend Alpine Rock and Block to all family and friends alike!

When remodeling our pool with Paradise Custom Pools we were told that Alpine Rock & Block would be a good place to visit… oh my was that an understatement! Will Rivera greeted me and I was amazed at the selection of anything I needed for our transformation. Stone Coping, Tile, Stack Stone… they’re not kidding– if they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist!
I would ask for Will again, he was very kind and extremely patient. Also spoke with Neil who happened to be the owner but make the time to walk in, it’s an awesome store with tons of stuff and awesome staff!

Every time I’ve been here, I get immediate attention and service. Competitive prices and a HUGE inventory. If they don’t have what you are looking for, they will order it or tell you where to get it. I feel very comfortable asking questions and getting sound advice on my projects.

I couldn’t be more confident that this is the best place for our current project and all future mulch/​stone/​compost refills! Forget messing with HD & all the others! We didn’t have to wait, every staff member on the property was friendly and eager to serve, and we were treated with such attention at the counter. We were encouraged to take whatever flagstone samples we needed to see how it would actually look on our property. Our associate even offered a couple other samples for a sealant we were curious about so we could see for ourselves how it would turn out. It was extremely helpful to grab a price sheet at the counter for all the bulk products — easy to read, no mystery. The bulk stone in the yard is all laid out in order, so I had no issues matching up my samples with the price sheet. Amazing customer service! Clean, organized, and all around very pleasant.

A friend recommended this place to me, and I was so happy she did. Alpine rock and block has a fantastic selction of rocks, pavers, and boulders and we got maybe 10ft from our car before we were approached by a salesman on a forklift asking if we needed help finding anything. We told him we were just browsing, and he said to holler if we found something or needed anything. Another 10ft in, another salesman in another forklift came to ask us if we needed help — I loved how aware and non-​pushy they were! Very surprising as most places like this are lacking in service, and this place had it in spades. Eventhough we live in south park, I will happily drive out to east county again for their awesome selection and fantastic service.

Alpine Rock & Block was very busy on Saturday. They had enough people working the counter so that no one had to wait to place their order or pay for their supplies. The guys in the yard assisted with loading the supplies immediately —- no wait. I made three trips and it was the same with each trip. Plus everyone was nice and pleasant and helpful. This place has the most incredible customer service! I’ll be back.

I have been coming to this place for a few years and have probably spent thousands of dollars. For the most part everything had always been great. Fair prices, friendly helpful staff and quality product. It was t until these past few times I have gone that things have gone down hill. The normally helpful staff seemed very annoyed I was even there. I get that everyone has bad days but it has now been multiple people on multiple trips, especially the female with piercings who works the front desk. She was just plain rude. I had an issue with a order of red wood chips that had trash mixed in with it. This included plastic and small pieces of glass! I brought this to the employees attention after u had unloaded it and spread it, and even brought photographic proof. They pretty much shrugged their shoulders and said sorry… What else do you need. After complaining again and reminding them that I had always been a loyal customer they said the absolute best they can do is 15% off of my next load… And were very annoyed at that. That be my last purchase from this business. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them defines what kind of business you are. This was not handled appropriately.

Pleasure to do business here, never have had a bad experience in several years. Guys at the desk are friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection and pricing. Its a bit out of the way from my location but worth every mile, keep up the good work guys.

Love this place, I come here for everything from Rock and Fill sand to High End Stone for pool coping and walk ways. Neil and the staff there really make you feel right at home. Price wise, I gotta say, its the best in East County. Hands down! Kenny at the front desk knows his stuff so I recommend you talking to him as he will send you on the right path to all your landscaping and backyard needs whether your a contractor or a homeowner. That’s what really sets this place apart. You can be in there spending $ 5 or $ 5,000, it doesn’t matter, they treat everyone the same. With respect. Thanks again Neil, Kenny and the rest of the awesome Alpine Rock & Block staff for setting me up with everything needed for an awesome backyard!!!

Such a great store, with an awesome selection and great group of sales associates. Very knowlegdable and helpful in directing me to exactly what I needed but due to their wide varity of choices it made finding a one single favorite tough. The storefront and yard was very professional and easy to navigate. I left with a smile on my face and blown away with their customer service. Good to know there are people and stores still out there that care more about the people then their pockets. Recommend this place to everyone and will be coming back for future projects.

Wow! Went over to Alpine Rock on my lunch break to see what sort of gravel, rocks, and stone they had. When I walked in I was greated by an employee named Tim, and I have to say, he did a great job with customer service. I mean he really spent time helping me understand the different rocks, stones, pavers, etc… He knew his stuff.
I have not yet purchsed anything from them, but plan to. Based on the way I was treated as a customer, I have high hopes for when I do go in to make my purchases. Great selection and nice people. Made it fun.

I only have one word to describe this place AWESOME!!! Great AMERICAN Family owned business. Everyone was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I love the fact that a family owns and opperates this business. Great prices too. I went in to purchase brick and stone and came out with some lovely decorative items. They have the cutest stuff, so while your husband is outside getting the stone etc, you can visit the inside and look at all the pretty sparkly stuff. oh and the guys that work there aren’t bad on the eyes… you know who you are :) Great place!!! Can’t wait to go back –just need a bigger house for all the stuff I would like to buy

I like big rocks! and I can not lie!
This place came highly recommended by several of my neighbors, all who have had beautiful work done in their yards and patios. I had also noticed that Alpine R&B sponsors many of my community organizations, so when I was in the market to pave a patch of grass in my backyard, i decided to check this place out.
I was very impressed with their selection, the quality of their products, and pricing.
The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. After speaking with them I determined that paving my grass was a slightly bigger undertaking then I was expecting, so I had to delay my purchase, but as soon as I am ready to complete my project I know where I will be going for my rocks and blocks!

I’m a landscape designer based in L.A. As I was preparing to do a big project in the El Cajon area I called all of the building material yards close to where I was going to be working and decided, based on price and availability of materials I would need, to use Alpine. What a great experience, everyone I worked with at Alpine, from the front desk to the guys in the yard was knowledgeable, generous with their time, and more than willing to help me in any way I needed. On a couple of occasions they even helped me find items through other businesses in the area that I was having trouble finding. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
