I dont think I’ll go back. It wasnt that the work wasnt good. The work was good. It wasnt fun & light & warm. It felt strict, cold, like i wasnt the customer. Seemed like i was inconvenientcing the nail technician. All I heard was how long shes been doing this and the customer is always wrong. She claimed she didnt need any customer drama. Since when is being satisfied with a service drama? Felt ignored & unimportant as a client. I remained nice & didnt ask for anything special.

Had nails done by an older woman, believe her name was Jocelyn. I wouldn’t return. The quality of the manicure was disappointing. Cuticles were ragged, not smooth. Polish missing on parts of my nails. I’ve had better elsewhere.

Julianne is AMAZING!
I take my wife here anytime she wants/​needs her hair styled, Cut, Highlighted or anything she wants to get. Customer service is extremely friendly here even though I only get my haircut every few months.
I have been going here once or twice a month for the last 6 months with my wife!
I like the fact even though I’m not the one getting my hair done that Julianne and her team are very polite and personable. Julianne is really experienced and knows what to do in any type of color correction or any problems that my wife’s hair may have.
My wife always walks out with a smile and I have to admit she always looks really beautiful thanks to Julianne.
This most recent time my wife got highlights and they turned out extremely well I can’t believe that such a small thing as getting your hair highlighted can transform the way that someone looks I’m ecstatic.
I have been to many salons in my life but I know that the quality and the friendliness here really makes this the go to salon.
I really like how you can get everything done here from your nails to your toes to your hair Julianne is the best hair stylist in San Diego.

Purchased a groupon for full highlights and a cut with Nicole. Highlights came out nicely, but this is the WORST haircut I have ever gotten. Now I have to get my hair cut again! I could tell she was inexperienced based on her extremely SLOW pace and her way of cutting my hair. I would highly recommend avoiding her as a hairstylist; I guess this is what happens when you decide not to splurge on a haircut. Big mistake. She also couldn’t keep a conversation, and yanked at my head a ton. Overall this was the worst hair cutting experience of my life!

So a dude writing a review hmm kind of strange right? Took my wife to get her nails done here cause she’s been hearing nothing but good reviews here so she was all excited to get her nails done on a Friday she was all excited and all had a big wedding to go to days after an hour later my wife is really upset cause the girl who did her nails «tiana» guess thats her name messed them up horrible nails were super rough and bumpy line wasnt faded had excessive glitter nails were just horrible i couldn’t stand my wife being upset I’ve taken her to other places and have done better than this I went back spoke manager/​owner forgot her name and told her she didnt really care I know they are independent but she should be on top of whats going on around her if their customers are happy or not to fix a problem right there and then… but no… I went on and all asked for my money back got it no problem but what really got me mad this unprofessional young lady started texting my wife and trying to argue with her like who does that saying that she did do a good job and that she dont know why I was «complaining» I was just blown away by the situation I understand it was a friday got plans and all but please dont make it obvious of just bsing your way of making money and ripping them off and not even have the courtesy to ask if like them or not all she did is just did her nails while wife was just cleaning up she was already gone in less than 10mins wow good we didnt tip just be careful ladies dont always believe what you hear

My bestie and I followed our stylist Jennifer to this salon. We’d follow her anywhere — she’s THAT good. It’s very nice, a big salon and the people are friendly. They offer full services, hair, nails and waxing. Come on in ! — you’ll be happy with their service for sure!

I don’t typically rate a hair stylist on how hey cut my hair, I have simple thin hair. I rate a hairstylist on how they cut my daughters hair… Super coarse thick thick hair. I have to say, I am completely impressed my Julianne. She didn’t just cut her hair, she cut it, dried it, straightened it, then dry cut it… It looks awesome and is probably the best haircut my 12 year old has ever had! Thank you Julianne, we will for sure be back :)

She has been doing my nails for almost a year now in all that time I think I have had one chip and never lost a nail or had it lift even when I have gone way way way over time to get a fill. I had an appointment with Tawny… who turns out to be the receptionist. I asked her if she knew how to cut a shag (I have curly hair) and she said ‘yes’. Well, she didn’t! Between her talking to other people about how she looked like Sandra Bullock and running to catch the phone… I got a poor haircut. Different lengths… longer on one side than the other. Even my friends said it looked like poor haircut. When I called her to tell her that I didn’t like my haircut, she offered to cut it again. I told her I couldn’t trust her with cutting my already short hair again! Even though I spoke evenly but directly, she started yelling that I had called her up and ‘attacked’ her! Save your money and stay away!

Julianne is awesome! I have been going to her for 4 years and I look amazing at an affordable cost. Ladies listen up… if you want extensions and you dont want to go broke… Go to Julianne… Tell her Kim sent you. BEST PRICES IN ALL OF SAN DIEGO for EXTENSIONS AND EYELASHES… Clean store and the lady that owns it Anne is really nice. She has owned it for over 30 years… I love that I always look amazing, clean place, affordable, and Family Owned! I am a customer for life. But in all seriousness… Go to Julianne if you want to transform yourself for an affordable cost… Just make sure you can get in to see her… She is booked all of the time… And lastly… The Shellac girl there rocks too… Its a one-​stop shop to gorgeousness… with money left in your pocket! I brought my puppy to… and it was ok!

I’ve been going to Giovanni’s for my hair styling needs for over 18 years. I’ve been through two hair stylists (both have traveled on in their careers) and have been with my third, Pam B., for about 10+ years. Because Pam is familiar with my personality and my needs, I rarely have to explain what I want, other than to try a new trim or color, but rather I just sit and enjoy the experience. I enjoy her wry sense of humor, her stories about the haps with her family and her professional advice.
The salon itself is spacious, calming with a lovely peach and light brown décor/​paint, always great music on in the background and lots of accessories/​product for you to purchase. The customer traffic through there is always constant, but never packed. The girls that work there are always smiling and always professional.
A great place to feel feminine and pampered!

Michelle Robertson is my hair stylist. She has great prices and she adds her creativity to your color and cut which is so nice. After all, she is the expert, not me.
For the salon itself, its very out dated and needs a major makeover. If i didn’t know Michelle before she came to this salon, once i walked in, i would have walked right back out.
There are other great stylists here and they deserve to work in a salon that compliments their skill level.

OK. So I got an on-​line deal and decided to check this place out based on the great « Unilocal» reviews. The deal was for several package services: 1) a facial; 2) an express mani/​pedi and 3) hair service (including several foils, eep conditioning treatment, blow-​dry and styling).
I’ve reviewed each service separately and then cumulatively determined the total! I’d give 3.5 if I could!
FACIAL PACKAGE — 5 STARS!!! Teresa did my facial and a brow wax. She was knowledgeable, professional and gave an excellent facial! She even was able to rid me of a «milia» on my cheek! Her massage pressure was just right and she didn’t hurt me one bit when giving me the brow wax either! I was impressed and thrilled with her and will most likely become a repeat customer! Yay Teresa! You do good work!
NAILS PACKAGE — 2.5 STARS. Samantha gave me this service. While the foot massage was good and the mani/​pedi came out fine too, I have to rate her low because of her unprofessional-​ism, rudeness, and blasé attitude. She didn’t seem like she was enjoying her job and just seemed to be going through the motions. She took a personal call or two but what really got me was that during the pedicure she was continuously sending texts and when this wasn’t happening she was receiving them! I know because I would hear her text message alert sound. You know that «A-​ooga! noise reminiscent of an old horn? Yeah, that was it! Well, forget about relaxing with this! She did redeem herself and gave me a nice manicure and massage but, unfortunately, the damage was already done.
HAIR PACKAGE — 4 STARS! This service was also with Samantha and for some reason a 24-​hr time difference made a huge difference in her and this appointment went much better! We discussed hair colors/​tints and came up with putting in some reddish highlights and I must say that I was very very happy with what tone of red she chose and how they turned out! And, unbelievably, she and her phone weren’t «one» throughout this appointment! Will I go back to her? I don’t really know… maybe/​maybe not.
Other observations: Receptionist/​Front Desk Staff was friendly, helpful, and accomodating. No complaints here!

The five stars go out to my girl Lei-​Ann for hooking me up with a great cut and highlights. The salon isn’t much to rave about, but the service and quality is what stood Giovanni’s apart from any place to the left or the right.
My only suggestion would be for the receptionist to enjoy her job a little more and do it better… she’s a bit aloof.

The treasured First to Review!
I can’t believe no one has reviewed this place! The only reason I can think of is that it resides in El Cajon, but I would drive long and far (its not even that far) for a good hair cut. Wouldn’t you?
Very nice place. Clean, nice décor, friendly faces, a nice staff including a couple of assistants which helps things run really smooth. I did not have to wait for my appointment. I was recommended to Malory by a couple of different girls at work who raved about how good she was. I searched for her on Unilocal.I was very confused when she was not on her. I am such a loyal Unilocaler that it almost turns me off when there is no Unilocal reviews!!! We must change this!
Malory was great. I wanted to go from a bleach blond to a dark brunette. I told my previous hair dresser this at my last appointment and she basically told me no. She said it would be too much of a process and she liked my blond. Well, pooh. Okay, I’ll stay blonde I guess.
Now Malory was excited to take on this challenge! She died my hair once, washed it, blow dried it. «I think we need to do it again, its not taking.» Died it, washed it, dried it. «Lets do it one more time, I don’t want you walking out of here unless its perfect.» Died it, washed it dried it. PERFECT. She also gave me a great trim and cute bangs. Nothing over the top, and no more than what I asked for. She cut my hair to the exact image I had before walking in that day which is a Godsend because usually hairdressers let their creativity get the best of them. New haircuts are fun, but being the experiment is never that fun for 6 weeks.
I would recommend Malory to anyone. She is friendly and easy to talk to.
This place is a full service salon, there are ladies doing nails on the perimeter (the speak english… pshhh) and there is also skin care being done.
Cool salon. SUPER affordable. The location. Hmmm. Well, it is right of the freeway. I did get side tracked while waiting for my appointment. I went to the Target parking lot and then ended up in an overpriced frozen yogurt shop. Its near stuff… Star*ucks. ect.
I am always on the search for a good salon, and I found one!
