Best California Burrito you will find, no joke! Living in San Diego, I have tried them from pretty much every restaurant that offers them, and LaPosta has the best, hands down. All their food, actually, is really amazing!

San Diego County is a Mecca for taco shops which could be the downfall of some otherwise rather good ones. La Posta could very well be one of those. We had just beaten the dinner crowd, which was good because it took awhile to get the food. We had originally stopped elsewhere, but the line was too long. The young man that took our order was very pleasant and polite. La Posta offers a nice salsa bar with hot carrots and cold water free of charge for those dining in or waiting on a to go order. Although it took awhile, the order was served hot and fresh and just as ordered. The Carne Asada fries were loaded and came with a mammoth helping of sour cream. The rolled tacos were good amid a generous portion of guacamole and cheese. La Posta is sort of off the beaten path unless you live in the immediate area, but worth a trip if your regular joint is just too crowded. No fountain drinks, only cans. They do offer an assortment of beers too.

You’re like«Whaaat? There’s good food here in this gas station parking lot?» The answer is a surprising: Yep! If you don’t wanna hang in the area you can call the order in and they’ll have it waiting for you! But regardless— —You’ve got to try the Steak Ranchero Burrito. Never heard of such a thing eh? Skip the Cali burrito just this once and enjoy!

This place is so good! They have the best California burrito and my boyfriend is a huge fan of the surf and turf! They always have fresh chips and salsa that are amazing! There is a lot of room to sit, it is a nice environment and awesome for large groups. If you are near lakeside, it is a place you MUST visit.

Amazing tacos! They use a tasty cheese blend rather than just shredded cheddar. Great food, nice staff.

Reading the other reviews led me here expecting something better than my Alberts from across the street. Unfortunately for me, they were nothing compared to Alberts and I would say they have the worst food that I have ever had in San Diego. My wife ordered the shredded beef tostada and I picked the two fish taco plate with rice and beans. The beef on the tostada was so dry that I would have preferred beef jerky. The fish tacos should have been golden brown, but were simply just brown. They were so overcooked that even the fish inside of the fried batter had dried out. Biggest waste of my hunger ever.

I eat here a lot. Pretty much every weekend. It may help that I live fairly close to the restaurant. Or that its a very good example of cheap East County Mexican food. I have a stringent system of evaluating cheap Mexican restaurants: Free Spicy Carrots: Yes Free Chips and Salsa Bar: Yes Do They Know What Makes a California Burrito: Yes Do They Stare At You Like You’re Crazy When You Order Said California Burrito: No Other Tasty Amazing Items: Yes La Posta is not a restaurant that one should drive all the way to East County to visit. But if you’re heading out east on Interstate 8 — stop by to get your burrito fill. Its worth the stop.

I had me a really good breakfast burrito from this La Posta. As a youngling, I would frequent their location on Casa de Oro with very good results. For about $ 4.70 you get an average size burrito( ) and complimentary chips and salsa if you eat in.( ) Also, unlimited trips to their Salsa bar.( ) The burrito came with eggs scrambles with plenty of ham, and some cheese.( ) The eggs were seasoned well and the ham was quite tasty and hot of the griddle. However, the burrito did need more cheese. I tried their red hot sauce with the burrito and chips and it was really good with a medium heat. Their house made corn tortilla chips were on the thicker side and very good. The gentlemen who work here were pretty nice, the place has a good amount of seating available, and it was well kept. A good taco shop.

3.5 stars East County and«good taco shops» are like Bigfoot. They don’t exist… or do they? Every once in awhile there is a sighting. Today was one of those days. I woke up and felt like a burrito so I decided to come down here and try this place out. Being my first time here, I placed my typical order… California Burrito and a Beef Taco. My total came out to $ 8.80. I paid the man my money and then filled up on some salsa. Big props on the size of the salsa containers. I got some red and some green. My order was ready and I grabbed my bag and drove home. Here is how the food stacked up. Salsas– Red and Green. They give you huge cups to fill up but unfortunately neither one of them were any good. Too watery/oily and not enough flavor. Meh. Beef Taco– This thing looked ok but I could tell right away that it was going to be greasy as hell. The tortilla and paper it was wrapped in were pretty«glossy» from the grease. They top this thing with lettuce and 2 types of cheese. A cheddar and a cotija type cheese. The cotija was a little different… not exactly sure what it was. It had some red flecks in it? I dont know if it was chile powder or if the cook had something on his hands and reached in the bowl of cotija and some of that red stuff came off? It didn’t taste bad or anything, just looked a little weird. I ate the whole taco but was not impressed and would not get one again. California Burrito– Hell to the yes! Probably the best CA burrito I have found in East County. Previous contenders were Emmas and Sombreros. This one was WAY better than those. This thing was stuffed with carne asada, french fries, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. First bite in, I knew it was going to be great. The carne asada was cooked perfect, the fries were decently crisp, there was plenty of cheese and it was layered nicely with sour cream and guacamole. I found no gristle at all throughout the whole burrito. The only thing I did notice was that the carne asada was a tad salty. I would much rather have it a little too salty rather than have no seasoning on the meat at all like at some places. This burrito was really really good and it falls in the top 5CA burritos in SDIMO. Its only about 10 minutes or so away from my house too! If I have a strong craving, it is closer to come here than it is to my other favorite sports in Kearny Mesa. I will definitely come back for another CA burrito!

Yummy yummy yummy! For 5 years I listened to a friend(and old coworker) tell me how La Posta was the best ever. since he grew up in El Cajon So, now that I live in SD and he is down visiting his parents we decide to meet up before he leaves town again. So, he suggests La Posta and I of course order a cali burrito. They bring out chips and have a salsa bar. Its a simple looking place but who cares the place was clean and the service was good too. They bring out the food to your table and this burrito was like 2 freakin pounds of burrito. And, it was delish! The meat was tender, lightly seasoned and the burrito as a whole was so good that I almost demolished the whole thing! I’m pretty sure I would have been a little too full on just half and been able to eat the rest for lunch the next day but it was so hard to stop eating. I dont even think I have been that full after Thanksgiving dinner! I will be going back the next time I happen to be that far east or the next time my buddy comes in to town. Oh heck, I may just get a really strong craving for cheap delicious Mexican food and drive out there anyway. for only 5 bucks and to get 2 whole yummy meals out of it, it’s totally worth the drive :)
