Mazda El Cajon

Pathetic service overall. While they’re very eager to get your money when you’re looking to purchase a vehicle, they’re also eager to up sell you on pricey add-​ons such as protective coating at inflated prices and additionally eager to avoid helping you after the sale. The $ 500 rebate that they tell you about comes with strings attached (you have to finance through them and purchase Auto GAP coverage through them). The auto gap coverage has been virtually impossible to cancel. I brought all documents that they requested to cancel the GAP coverage, was made to wait about an hour and in the end they didn’t know how to cancel the coverage. They told me I could then email the cancellation and documents and assured me coverage would be canceled. Months later I called to followup as I hadn’t received the refund. They told me that they were missing documents and therefore were unable to cancel the coverage. Why they didn’t call to tell me this, I don’t know, but it seems to me that they really don’t care. Followup calls are unanswered and voice messages and emails go un-​returned. So now I’m stuck paying for something they promised would be very easy to cancel (after the required 3 month commitment). On top of that, when I retrieved my car after they supposedly put the protective coating on, there was still tree sap all over the car from my work meaning they did a very shoddy job. The sap could be wiped off easily with a finger so they hadn’t even washed the car as well. A call to their service manager was not helpful and the guy was rude. Overall, I’d rate them as pathetic. Mazda on Mission Valley Road is much better to deal with.

Went to look at a used vehicle and it was not on the lot… BUT was still listed as available online. It was upsetting to know that and they knew we had an appt to test drive but we were not notified that it was no longer on the lot, so it was upsetting to drive down there for that. HOWEVER we test drove 2 other used vehicles and did like one of them. Randall was a really great sales guy and funny! He made us feel comfortable and was very upfront about GMC models. Jeff the manager financial adviser was great! He took it to heart to explain in depth how everything was broken down and worked with us on matching our budget. He was very sincere and truly wanted to meet our needs in a vehicle. However, it was very late, past closing and we as buyers were tired. They were more than willing to let us talk it over and come back another day. I would recommend them for your next car buy! The only issue was the fact they never told us the original vehicle wasn’t even on the lot and we wish they would have.

I kind of got suckered in to driving down there, as I was told they had the exact car I wanted, and no other dealer in town did. Turned out that car was a special order for someone, so I was a little upset about that. I was very specific in the car I wanted. Vaughn asked me if I was interested in a few other cars they had on site, and I wasn’t or they weren’t in my price range. He didn’t try to push them on me, which was nice. He did happen to have the sedan version of the car I wanted, and honestly he wasn’t trying to push this version on me at all. He said we can test drive this one, and if it feels right we can place the order for the hatchback version in a different color. I ended up really liking the sedan so we started the paperwork.
My credit score is pretty rough given the stupid things I did when I turned 18, but I was able to get approved for a lease. Which is great, because I’ll be able to spend the next 3 years building my credit up to actually purchase next time! My payments ended up falling pretty much in line with what I figured, and I was able to leave with a brand new 2016 Mazda 3 with a manual transmission. Thank you Jeff and Vaughn for a great experience. As of right now, I feel like I left there very knowledgeable about the leasing process, and what is covered and not covered when leasing a car. I love my new ride, and I appreciate you not being typical sales men trying to sell me shit I don’t want/​need!

Brought my vehicle here for service and I never should have. I was charged for wiper blades which I never received. My E brake light is now permanently stuck on which I’ve never had a problem with and was told by Frank «don’t worry the float is stuck and will go away after a couple days.» 3 months later it’s still stuck on. I was ignored after 2 days calling and leaving 2 voicemails trying to get a hold of the service manager to request a quote on other services and to find out what the status was on the current repair. When my call was returned it was «hey your car is ready.» I wrote to the GM and the service manager to bring to their attention the service I received. I was ignored on both occasions. Since my first review was deleted from Unilocal for lack of information or the dealer paid to have it removed. Was treated poorly by the service manager C. George and promptly ignored by the service advisor Frank. So if you want to be overcharged and ignored this is the place for you! I brought my car in for repair and received it in worse condition.

If you drive a Mazda in the SD area, definitely go with Mazda El Cajon. I’ve been over here with two friends and we’re always happy with the quick, reliable service. They don’t price gouge you either. Highly recommended! Great staff and service!

I recently leased a 2016 CX-​5 from here and can honestly say it was the best car buying experience I have ever had! My sales rep, Royal, has been amazing! He went above and beyond what you’d ever expect. He worked with us to get the exact car we wanted, had it brought in from a different dealership, and even came in on his day off to go over all of the features of the car with us and make sure we were taken care of. To take it even a few steps further, he has called multiple times to make sure we are satisfied, answer any questions we had, and personally delivered an item to us, on a Sunday, that was not in stock when we got the car! Royal is definitely the man to ask for when you go to Mazda of El Cajon!

At the very start my wife Rachel and I were met with a friendly smile and upbeat attitude by Travis thier sales rep. He helped us pick out a Mazda CX-​3 Touring Trim. The vehicle was everything we wanted and more. We were a bit afriad of not being able to afford it even with a pre-​approval. Travis didn’t pressure us into anything so that made for a great expierience. The finance gentlman even took the time to come out and say «I know your not being cheap, so were gunna make this deal happen» and thanked me for my service. The entire team was there after closing (5pm) to wait for my deal to be signed at (7pm). The gentalman handling our paperwork was nice and was well organzied and efficient at explaining eveything to us. I would give them a ¹⁰⁄₅ if I could. While I recently bought a Subaru from Mazda-​Subaru of El Cajon I have to say that my experience at the dealership was one of the best I have ever had with any dealership in the San Diego area! RandAll is extremely knowledgeable and one of the people I have ever worked with when buying a car! I highly recommend coming to the Mazda-​Subaru of El Cajon dealership if you want a relaxed, comfortable and easy start to finish experience with buying a car! What really makes this dealership different than others is that the team you work with will make sure to make sure you are 100% happy and satisfied and that if you have any questions even if it is something as simple as how a function in the car works they will go out of their way to make sure you understand and get the full experience of the car, this truly is the definition of customer service and what will keep me as a loyal customer!

I bought a XV CrossTrek from Mazda Subaru El Cajon a few months ago. I visited every Subaru dealership in San Diego County looking for an Outback. I left the other dealerships with a really bad experience. I actually called Mazda Subaru El Cajon first to see if they had the car. I spoke with Randall Dunn. He actually ran back to their back parking lot to look for a car. I ended up getting the XV CrossTrek and I love it! Randall was awesome. He helped me every step of the way and continues to make sure my car is doing well. Thanks Randall!

We had a great experience. Our dealer was super helpful and very patient and made sure he only gave us correct information even if he had to ask someone else. The thing that impressed me most was that every time he went to get keys for a test drive he ran instead of walked. So if you are there ask for Chris Antolini. He’s the best.
The only reason I gave four stars was because Chris didn’t feel like he answered our questions perfectly (since he is new) so he got help and the guy he got was some bald guy that was kind of snippy and not at all patient and had kind of a sassy additude. Maybe he was just having a bad day but save yourself the trouble; skip the bald guy and ask for Chris, he’s the best. :)

Ask for ROYAL Wilkinson! A San Diego, East County Native yay!!! No haggling. No pressure. Super knowledgeable and easy to work with! I knew I wanted either a Subaru or Maza so it was so convenient knowing I could come to Mazda El Cajon to test drive both. Royal answered all questions and concerns that we had, and we drove home with a 2016 Mazda iSport Sedan the same day! I called a few days later about some questions I had with the car, and Royal was attentive and eager to help.
Some feedback for Mazda El Cajon: When dropping off my car to get the interior and paint sealed, I was told I could come back that evening and pick my keys up with the front sales desk (This was not Royal that told me this. It was a different employee). They did not have my keys and had to call one of the employees in the shop in order to access my keys. Perhaps a look at your processes to better support your customer’s and make sure the last guy out the door in the shop, hands over a key for sales to access the rest of the cars still on the lot, OR hand over those keys to sales for the customers coming to pick up their car after a long day at the office. My car was done in 4 hours, but on a week day, I could not get her until the end of the day. Other than that, you guys are awesome. I look forward to working with you over the life of my car!

Being a first time car buyer, I was nervous to step on the lot as I only had the stereotype salesman to go off of. I was greeted by Alen Daniel who showed me different versions of the car I was interested in and took me on a test drive. I was just starting my search and I appreciated that he wasn’t pushy or trying to persuade me a certain way.
(I went to other dealerships where I had unenjoyable experiences with salesman who still call trying to sell me a car weeks later.)
I chose El Cajon Mazda because I felt Alen treated me fairly and with respect. When it came to the numbers he was straight forward with me and I appreciated that. Whenever I had a question, he answered or would find the answer for me and get back to me right away.
If you are in the market for a Mazda or Subaru I recommend going here and asking for Alen. I am very happy with both my car and service I received. Thank you!

Do not buy a car from this dealer. When I bought a new car there I found out at my first service that they had over inflated the tires when I bought it and they’re now so deteriorated that they need to be replaced after just a few thousand miles. Now they expect me to pay hundreds to fix their mistake. I did some research and apparently overinflating tires is a common scam dealer service departments use to sell extra tires. «Oh we definitely check the air pressure before we sell the car» this guy said, calling me a liar and saying I must have overinflated them myself! Yeah right, irresponsible greed is what that is; he also told me that it was a safety hazard and needed to be replaced asap. What if it had blown while i was on the freeway?
They are looking to rip you off and are apparently willing to risk your safety to do it. Go somewhere else. I’m hoping Mazda corporate helps out here otherwise this will be the last mazda I’m buying. It’s a great car but if mazda dealers are allowed to act like this, the car isnt worth it.
***Update***:
Mazda did end up finding the dealership at fault for an inadequate (and fraudulent) pre-​sale safety inspection and covered the cost of the replacement tires, so good on them. This dealership never owned up to their mistake though, so don’t except them to fix their ways. I’ll be having my car serviced at a different dealership from now on and I suggest everyone else do the same. If you bought a car here I suggest taking it to a more reliable dealership to have a full inspection — if they are willing to lie on the pre-​sale inspection forms about tire pressure they probably don’t reliably check oil, steering fluid, battery charge or anything else before selling a car and just write down that everything is in order.

I’m quite certain that no one looks forward to going to dealerships because of their money hungry stigma. But, Martin Mikha made things extremely easy. I emailed them at 7pm and he got back to me within 5 minutes to setup an appointment the next day. He was very patient with me when I couldn’t make a decision and legitimately helped me weigh my options. I never felt slighted and he didn’t seem like a money hungry salesman, of which I’ve experienced multiple times at other dealers. I test drove multiple cars and he helped me decide what was best for my situation. Since the car was just delivered to the dealership the previous day, we had to wait a bit to actually get it. But, Martin Mikha made sure we had what we needed and gave us pizza while we waited. I’d also like to give kudos to the girl at the front desk (sorry I forgot your name), but she kept checking on us to make sure we were good and kept us updated on how our car was coming along.
If you want the least stressful car buying experience possible, while still getting a fair deal, go here and ask for Martin.

I’m very sensitive about the vibes I get at dealerships and what I can say about this place is that they hit all the marks:

Seriously, take two women (my sister and I) who look to some to be about a decade younger than they actually are and you’ll be surprised how some places might treat you.
Here, they treated us like serious buyers and respected all of our questions, requests and time.
From the salesperson, to the manager and the closing finance.
I was actually really happy with this place.
It was my sisters first car purchase (I’ve done like 5) and she is happy too, so what more can I ask for? I recommend these guys if you are looking for a Mazda… they do Subaru too.

Boyfriend has been looking at getting a Mazda 3 for a while (like a year) and we were pretty disappointed at how we were treated at most of the other dealerships. We were expecting pushy salesmen, unclear negotiations, and lots of pressure to buy.
I am glad we were wrong.
My boyfriend had been exchanging emails with Royal (umm, coolest name ever) and had given a price he’d like to pay, and Royal checked and said the price is fine, come down to get the car and they’ll order it (he was looking at a specific 2014 in Bakersfield). Royal said it’s easier if they just get the 2015 but they’ll give him the same price, and even reduced the price because it didn’t have fog lights which the 2014 did. Basically, they gave him an upgrade at a reduced price. Royal clearly went out of his way to be good to us.
We test drove with Jeremiah, who said he was brand new but we thought he was seasoned because he was knowledgeable and professional, and even matched our humor which I LOVED as that is oddly important to me.
The process was just about as painless as I have ever seen, and the staff was so dang nice to us and really accommodating (I can’t count how many times I was offered various beverages). My boyfriend is happy so I am happy, and he got a wonderful deal on a car he enjoys thoroughly. From initial email to driving out in the new car, things were smooth and we were well educated about the car and options available.
I appreciate Mazda of El Cajon’s transparency in the entire process as well as their kind staff. I’ll have to check them out when I finally get that WRX…;)

This week my car died, and needing a replacement, I stopped at Mazda El Cajon to test drive the Mazda CX– 5. I ended up purchasing a RAV4 from Toyota El Cajon across the street, but the Mazda is a fine vehicle.
My Mazda salesman was Dylan, a sincere, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable young man who was a pleasure to shop with. Previous experiences with car dealerships had led me to swear I would always buy cars online, but Dylan turned me around. Had the RAV4 not impressed me more than the Mazda, I certainly would have worked with Dylan to find a suitable vehicle.
