On The Mark Smog And Auto

Excellent shop and both Jaime and Manuel are fast, efficient and knowledgable. My entire family comes to this facility. They are honest, hard working and do not try to take advantage of anyone.

Through a pennysaver ad I chose this place to have my truck smog checked here. For 30 bucks out the door I thought it was s steal (as the closest shop to me wanted 55) and there were no strings attached. The only downside was the lack of parking as it shares only 1 long row of parking spots with other businesses and it wasn’t much better on the street. The employees were nice though and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

I’ve had a lot of work done here over the past few years and I can’t recommend this place enough!!!
I’ve referred many friends and neighbors and even employees to this place because they do good work that is quick, accurate, and efficient. Not only that, they stand by their work and the work they do stands the test of time.
I came here originally for a smog check. They were one of the few places that doesn’t gouge if you have an older vehicle. Well my car failed smog so they told me about the BAR program the state of California has to assist with getting vehicles to pass smog. I filled out the paperwork and participated in the program and it was painless and super helpful. I ended up needing a new catalytic converter and a new fuel filter. What normally would’ve been a 600+ bill only cost me like 23 dollars out of pocket. After the repairs the car passed smog with flying colors. And in the two smogs since, I haven’t had a worry! Just have changed the air filter and spark plugs and no problems.
I’ve also had to have my CV boot replaced here. That was quick and painless, and very reasonable. I think the axle and labor was like $ 120 altogether if I remember correctly.
Then my car had a hole in the exhaust it’d been there since I’ve owned it I just never cared about repairing it. But Jaime fixed it up by cutting the pipe and welding a new piece on. I think that cost me less than $ 100.
Ironically one day I was following my girlfriend to the shop (she needed some suspension work done on her F-​150… he quoted us almost half of what other shops were wanting!) and my car broke down. After towing it to the shop, Jaime threw it up on the rack and identified that the clutch fork had snapped. Explains why I couldn’t shift! So he did a custom repair job by removing the tires, dropping the engine/​tranny removing the clutch, and welding some reinforcements to the fork arm. This was as you can imagine very labor intensive but he was very reasonable and it was done in just a few days!
All of the repairs that have been done by this shop have not needed further attention. The repair process is smooth and the shop is very good on communication. I am the type that calls and bugs several times checking up on my baby and they had no problem with that at all!
Perhaps the best thing though about On the Mark is that they don’t bullshit. They don’t try to upsell you things you don’t need and they tell you what you must do and what you can get by with for now. They work with you to keep the costs low and the work is done well and the parts are quality parts (and of course he is always willing to save/​show you the old parts if you ask him).
The overall cost is very, very reasonable here too! Labor rates at other shops can be enormous! I’ve researched places like Horsman, D&R, Evan’s, etc. and their labor rates are in the 90 – 115 per hour range. I don’t know about you but that is waaaayy too much for my blood. They must be like that for the insurance companies… but if you’re paying out of pocket, On the Mark is the way to go!

I was recommended from my bf who has been coming here a few years. He has a ’87 and he comes here because Jaime always does great work and does it cheaper than competitors. I needed a new idler arm and ball joints for my truck and had a few quotes for $ 600-​$ 800. Came here and got it done for $ 450. No haggling needed. It’s a low key place but Jamie is super friendly and always gives us a great deal. He also is honest and will tell you what can wait. I recommend this place to everyone!

Good trustworthy place. I’ve been using them a long time (since before the ownership switched years ago) and they’ve always done a good job for a reasonable price. They don’t try to totally up-​sell you on stuff you don’t really need, and they let you know what should be fixed now and what can wait.

The main mechanic is pretty chill and flexible with his time. What I like about this place is that they like to use good parts not the made in china stuff that will break or leak.
