Best mexican food I’ve had hands down. Sweet woman who takes your order. Food comes out hot, fresh and so good! Their chips are amazing too

I wanted to order a super burrito this morning to share with my coworkers, I went up to the window, I was ordering the burrito and the guy (cashier) just saying no, no, no and then he said «don’t speak English). I would think if you are going to take someone’s order, you would be required to speak English. Then I was trying to order the burrito in Spanish and again he said no that they didn’t make it there. I told him that in the past not too long ago I have ordered it before and then he responded that they didn’t have beans. To me it looked like he didn’t want to take my order or didn’t want to make it.

My family and I just moved to El Cajon and were out trying to find a taco shop and decided to give Rosendo’s a try. Must say I was a little hesitant because of the appearance of the place, and the sketchy people who were hangin out nearby, but we decided to order anyways. Service was great, very friendly and fast. Prices weren’t too bad considering what we ordered (Carne asada fries and adobada fries/​two large cokes). Came home opened up our food and was amazed on the portions, I was unable to finish my food and can’t forget that what I ordered tasted delicious! The adobada meat had the best flavor! We’ll definitely go back to Rosendo’s again :)

I would say mediocre at best. The barrel shaped orange and yellow building is kind of cool, though. Sandwiched between smog pros and a little strip mall, it’s a little difficult driving through to pick up your food. The service was friendly enough, I just was not very impressed with the food. There is very limited seating outside so we just drove through and got it to go. I will admit that Mexican food does not travel very well even if you’re only going a short distance.
The portion size of my Carne Asada Chips was ample but there was a lot of gristle in the meat. The same could be said for my wife’s burrito. With all of the Mexican places to choose from in the area, I don’t think I will be returning to Rosendp’s. I got no complaints from the kids though regarding their food and they seem to like the place.
There is an extra 75 cent charge if you use plastic so cash might be the way to go. They do seem to stay pretty busy and there have been some decent Unilocal reviews so it may be worth giving it a shot. Who knows, you may find something on the menu that you really like. Beware of gristle in the Carne Asada though.

I bought a rosendo’s number six special which is two rolled tacos beef taco and tostadas. Not knowing what I was going to find in my food. First bite I couldn’t bite through then I realize once I take it out its a toothpick. Then I take another bite and another toothpick. Are you serious I mean once it’s a mistake this time the second toothpick was broken and in pieces. Wtf… you trying to kill me. This is the first time this has ever happened. I know a first time for everything. But to try and have me choke. I’m more then furious… never again…

It’s a barrel alright. It’s a Barrel of crap!
I got 5 rolled tacos pretty simple you say. That’s what I thought. Never tried the place before saw the Unilocal reviews from the fellow Unilocalers and said to myself lets play it safe. They Cannot screw rolled tacos up, right!
Paid for the tacos with credit card and the lady at the window said that will be 75 cents for using a credit card. Man I hate a business that charges a rip off to use a credit card. Order was 6 bucks at 2% max that’s 12 cents it cost them to run the card at best!
Then right after I paid saying to myself they just lost my business. The food was handed out the window. I said to myself WOW that was quick. Sure enough drove thru parked the car to eat. Soggy tcos and un-​rolling as I picked them up. I ate one of the 5 and went back to the barrel and said I need my money back. These tacos had been sitting for awhile to be like this. The lady looked at me like I was a crazy white dude. The food taste was bad I mean bad
Save your money and time search Unilocal and visit somewhere else!!!

Went there again to give it another try. I love it so much that a little situation couldn’t keeps me away! The lady was so nice and great! I got carne fries with extra pico and sour cream and 3 rolled tacos with no guacamole but put sour cream! Everything was fine except they put guacamole. It was whatever I just ate it but I’m glad this place is good again.

«The barrel» as the locals call it can be depended on for all the typical taco shop food but they make it super delicious. Their carne asada nachos are large enough for 2 to 4 people to share and they are so good with crispy chips, carne, cheese, guacamole & sour cream. The adobada is flavorful, saucy & obviously homemade. I also like the mini carne asada tacos– 5 street style tacos. The people who work there are always nice. I’ve been eating here since I was in college, years ago and have never had a bad experience.

I’ve had some good food on the past, but this last order was the worst. I ordered rolled tacos, the tacos were like they were microwaved. No crispyness, cheese was just laying unmelted, guacamole was piled high, with lettuce. Tacos were wimpy.

Been here in the past once and had pretty good asada fries, but this last time i came the meat seemed old and unflavored.
BTW, its better to eat at home, eating there isn’t recommended since they don’t really clean the tables and the place just looks old anyway.
Good service though.

The food is decent, this place is less than a block from where I live so there’s a convent factor. Like other people have said, this place takes quite awhile to make your food. The people who work at night are very nice but be warned not to visits during the day because they will give you the wrong food, this has happened almost every time I come through during the day.

Best burritos in el cajon. Carne Asada always tasting fresh, the pico (mexican salsa) always has a fresh taste as well.
Good size burritos, and the price is right.
Carne Asada fries is a huge plate of food.
The breakfast burritos are also pretty amazing with real fries, and not potatoes… I think it makes the burritos better.
The green and red salsas are bomb! and last but not least the cabeza tacos and burritio are very good.
over all for the price, size, flavor, and service 5 stars.

A Barrel…
I drove by this place, saw a barrel, and said to my self, «what the heck, they’re still barrels.» Right then, I decided, I had to turn around and try this place. (
) My Motto is: don’t base on it until, I have tried it.
I ordered their bacon, eggs, cheese, and potato breakfast burrito. Bam! This burrito, first of all was huge and loaded with bacon and all the rest of the goodies. (
) The best part it was only $ 4! The burrito with all the fixing was amazingly delicious. I have not had a breakfast burrito this good in a while. Not only were the inside ingredients great, but the flour tortilla it came with was one of those extra larger and perhaps made from «manteca» or lard; old fashion kind which are hard to find these days. Although, it could of been made of canola oil, but whatever it was made out of, the out come was the same: super delicioso!
All be it, stuffed in a barrel all day, the service was great and friendly. It is not the best looking little place, but it does the job. They opened 24 hours.
Only four bucks… for that huge thing… still thinking about it… yum…

Hands down. The best taco shop in east county and all of San Diego! Portions are huge… And they have the best watery hot sauce ever!
