Four great things you need in life 1) mechanic 2) seamstress 3) lawyer (position is open) 4) wine. As much as I hate paying for car repairs, the guys at Valley Automotive are trustworthy and efficient. Today we find our alternater was going out. Took the superburbo in and within a couple hours we were back on the road. Valley Automotive is the only place worthy enough to care for our vehicles.

I wanted to post based on customer service alone. I showed up for a smog check and I was told they no longer did them. Instead of sending me out on my way, he referred me to a smog check place, told me how to get there, and gave me a coupon for 10 dollars off. Thank you for the referral!

I’ve only been there once, but they treated me great! I was getting a pre-​purchase inspection on a Honda Fit from a nearby dealership, and they were the only shop able to do it on a Saturday morning. As soon as they got to the funky electrical wiring in the vehicle, they advised me against the purchase (I was on the fence anyways), and only charged me half price– yaya!

Been coming to this place for a year now. I originally had my transmission flushed, which went great. I returned just recently because of a small issue with my explorer and Shawn came out and fixed in on the spot, no charge. I really appreciate their service and will continue to take my vehicle here.

I have been bringing my BMW to Shawn for the past couple of years now. I actually drive from Coronado to El Cajon because I trust his services. He is honest and professional, and never tries to sell you anything you don’t need.
It’s common knowledge, or perhaps a common misconception, that mechanics take advantage of clients by selling unnecessary services/​parts etc… (Just like car dealerships… who can we trust?!!) That being said, Valley Automotive does not practice dishonest business ethics.
I will keep driving the distance so Shawn can keep taking care of my Bimmer… He’s the only one I trust to take of my girl!

I wish it were possible to give a business zero stars.
The owner, Shawn, is a crook and under investigation from BAR. He over charges for simple repairs. And he sabotages your car so that he can continue to work on it.
His company refused to give me a detailed diagnostic work up on my vehicle after I chose to take it elsewhere when he wanted to charge me almost $ 1000 for a tune up and oil change.
It ran worse when I left so I took it to another shop to find that a spark plug had been replaced with a bad one that wasn’t even the right type.

I’ve been taking mine and my wife’s car here for years. Shawn and his team are competent, and courteous. Last week i noticed that when I hit the brakes in a turn it seemed like my tire was bouncing up and down. It got worse with time until I figured, ‘this isn’t good, i better take it in.’ Valley replaced the front control arms and the brakes and rotors that had become damaged by the bad control arms. My car brakes nice and smooth again. For great auto repairs this is the place to go!

Needed my motor home prepared for the winter season. They changed the oil, filter and air filter and checked everything else. Did not push any other service or try to convince be to do «more things». Very honest people and the prices are very reasonable. Fast service. I will definitely go back there.

I was glad I found this shop. Although I live in La Mesa, this shop was worth the drive to El Cajon. I had some emission related problems which I already paid another shop to repair, incorrectly. I was unable to pass a smog test without the correct repairs. These guys were personable, friendly and above all knowledgeable. They ran a complete diagnostic check, which identified the problem. In a few hours they had the problem fixed and I was able to pass the smog test. They even showed me the problem as I had a bunch of gunk that needed to be cleaned out among other things. The repair was made timely and at a fair price. What more can you ask for. I highly recommend this shop.
