I bought a 1989 Buick Reatta from Autometrics. We (wife and myself) flew down from Washington state to pick up the car and drive it back. Paul made sure everything was good to go (air in tires, wiper blades, full tank of gas) for our long drive home. Car drove great.

I just bought a 2009 Nissan Versa from Autometrics. Paul is a super nice guy, very helpful, and not at all overbearing or forceful. I’ve only had the car for a few hours but am so far very happy with it! Paul worked with me on the price and through negotiation we landed on a price that worked very well for both of us. I went to several different dealers and drove dozens of cars, but definitely had the best experience with Paul at Autometrics. They don’t have a huge selection but what they do have is very nice quality, and they do have a range of styles of prices. Would definitely recommend this place.

Autometrics was the ideal dealership to buy my first car from. Paul and Edward are knowledgable, patient and made the entire process less stressful, and I ended up with a terrific car that I’m really happy with.

Paul treated me with great respect and attention. We figured out what was right for me by way of a car. He was patient and very helpful. I got a great car at a great price.

We needed to find a car that would fit three car seats for a 4 and 2 year old and a 4 month old grandson, plus 4 adults. Having had such great experience with Paul of Autometrics before, I called him and asked if he could help me locate a car that would meet our needs. He worked with me every step of the way and found our growing a family a wonderful 2012 Toyota Sienna for a very decent, fair price. Paul, thank you so much. I have now bought three cars from you and sold two over the years. You make auto transactions enjoyable, and that is difficult to do! If the reader finds her/​himself in need of an auto, don’t waste your time at any other auto dealer. Or, better yet, go to other auto dealers, and then talk to Paul. You will see the difference immediately.

My wife and i went to autometrics to look for a van, with a baby in tow. We met with Pual and he walked us to the van we looked at online. He asked us if we wanted to test drive the van and gave us the keys, we took the van out and knew we wanted to purchase it. Thats when Ed Started dealing with the finance companies for the van. Can you say work horse, Ed got it done also with Paul. These guys are about the bizz no games. If you are looking for a good vehicle look to Automatrics. Our well-​loved (and well-​maintained!) 92 Toyota Corolla wagon was totalled – hit and run while parked in front of our house, no witnesses, of course. We had a week to find another car, so we took our (woefully inadequate) insurance settlement and set out to find something we could afford. We went to Autometrics first, mainly because of the positive reviews here, just to take a look and see what we could get on our budget. Three hours after we got there, we drove away in our (new to us) 2002 VW Jetta wagon.
I’ve never bought a used car before, so I was pretty nervous about it, but this was by far the most pleasant car buying experience I’ve ever had. When I bought the Toyota (new, from Broadway Toyota in Oakland) I was so angry by the time I got home I was really tempted to take it back and tell them I changed my mind.
When we got there, Paul came out, introduced himself, and asked a few questions to find out what we were looking for. He showed us something he thought might fill our requirements, then gave us his inventory sheet – with prices – and let us wander around the lot on our own for a bit. We drove the VW, and another vehicle, and decided we wanted the VW if we could get the financing that would work for us. Edward, their finance guy, worked hard for us, and in the end we got the financing we needed.
Their inventory isn’t huge, but what they have is good quality, especially if you’re looking for something under $ 10K and are willing to buy a vehicle with some miles on it. Our car came with a 3-month/3,000-mile warranty (50% parts and labor), and we purchased a 5-​year/​100K-​mile warranty for a very reasonable price.
We’ve only had the car a week, so who knows if we’ll run into problems with it sooner than we should, time will tell. But I feel reasonably confident that they sold us a good vehicle for the price.

They have a very low-​pressure, hassle-​free approach to selling cars which is a breath of fresh air after dealing other dealerships. I couldn’t get the price I was hoping for on the car I wanted, but that’s their prerogative– overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking to buy a used car.

Before buying, check with
for used car values… most cars I saw and checked out on the «no haggle» pricelist were well above KBB… especially higher for actual condition of car since mine had been in an accident, which I think is true for many on the lot. I even checked Unilocal before I purchased and saw all the glowing reviews… this made me drop my guard a little but man was I wrong.
I bought a car from them a few months ago when the weather was warmer… I have found a number of issues with the car since purchase… one of which now is no heat, I only found out about this recently since it’s cold out but I’m sure they sold it to me broken. Even though when I bought the car I pointed out several problems they were unwilling to budge on price, not an inch, stating he’s got other people in line for the car, and only willing to send the car to thier own shop in Berkeley where the service and skillset was also not up to par, at all… they couldn’t figure out how to put the right qty of oil in it for starters. They agreed to do this since there was a code on the dash requiring a standard service. Also I think they only SAID they did an alignment, I requested this due to unusual wear on a front tire. After a service at a dealer I was told I really needed to have a ball joint replaced (which they would’ve had to see, and inform me of, if they did a proper alignment) and aligned, the car doesn’t pull at all anymore. In other words, I believe they flat out lied to me. even though the guy said he would show me paperwork, they never did. The salesguy kept saying, oh yeah the car is up to «all required safety standards», as a means to duck more detailed questions… I wanted this car enough at the time to convince myself it was ok, but now, I wish I never did business with them. It is not the quality of car they advertised, it had been in a pretty serious accident, it had a fuel pump issue, several fault codes were in the computer. I asked them how the brakes were a few times and never seemed to get an answer, I just had to replace all around including rotors as there were deep grooves and lips on all and slight warping on one. I never got that answer because it would had to have been «they are on thier last leg» something typical «used car dealers» never will admit. All of the things mentioned are long term issues not things I have had the mileage to cause myself. I am up to $ 5000 worth of repairs to get the car up to snuff. It didn’t even have a jack and lug wrench for the car, which I neglected to look for at the time. I did not get a third party inspection expecting honesty from this «used car dealer»… yeah, my bad… I forgot honesty is too high of a bar and that we have to expect we’re getting screwed then work backwards with these types. Tons of little things, too many to list… like they told me the car did not need a smog check because of year, but only after we signed the paperwork we found out it did, and it cost me $ 50 that they said I didn’t need. they did not even budge on that $ 50.
These guys buy cars from auctions and they obvioulsy lack the talent or care to revamp as necessary prior to sale… they just make the cars look good, then worry about the rest during purchase, and do the minimum to make the sale. I’m sure these tactics were not just used on my car, but all the cars on thier lot.
Buyer BEWARE… go somewhere else.
Also sure, there are some good reviews here… but Unilocal has ways for these guys to keep good reviews on top.

They had the car I was interested in but they didn’t have the right price for what the car was really worth. I went there on Sunday, test drove it and went back to Autometrics on Tuesday to get it pre-​purchase inspected at Oceanworks in Berkeley, which found tons of issues and so I turned the car down.
Apparently, Autometrics have their own auto mechanics in Berkeley. If that’s the case, then how come they are trying to sell a vehicle with so many mechanical problems? They didn’t do a thorough inspection before they put the vehicle in the lot.
The vehicle I am referring to is a black, 1999, Lexus RX 300.
My advice: make sure you do a thorough pre-​purchase inspection outside of the dealer.

Bought a Toyota Avalon here. Five months later the car is in the shop in need of a new transmission.
Luckily, I got the insurance so it will partially cover the cost.
Very disappointed.

Bought my car (‘90s Toyota Camry) here a couple years ago, and always meant to give them a positive review.
Car was in great shape as promised. There were a couple of problems (a leaky skylight and a buggy speaker) which they worked on for free and immediately when I pointed it out. Always friendly and helpful.
I knew exactly what I was looking for, so I can’t say how they are about pushing you to buy, but I never felt pressured.
If I buy another used car, I’ll definitely check out Autometrics.

I found THE CAR I wanted online and as I live in Los Angeles, I called Autometrics. Autometrics provided me with a VERY competitive price for my car (it was between them and another dealer here). After negotiating, I made all types of requests (an inspector to check the car, wiper blades replaced and additional photos) — all which were accommodated. When I arrived to San Francisco airport to pick up the car, they greeted me at the BART station with a smile.
The inspector (that I hired) reported that the two front tires may need to be replaced soon. When I arrived at the LAX airport I called Autometrics and advised them I would feel more comfortable if they replaced the two front tires — they did and the car had the new tires on it when I arrived (and this was on a Saturday) and they charged me exactly what the place I requested asked, which was at a wholesale price. The ENTIRE process with all paperwork and documentation took less than 20 minutes after I got there! I was driving back to LA very quickly!
Paul (the owner) and the rest of the staff were amazing and friendly to deal with. The money matched and the car was exactly what was promised. I would refer ANYONE to do business with Paul and Autometrics in general. Each conversation I had with Paul was sincere and he did not fit the bill of your typical «used car» salesperson. Everything was handled so professionally and he was sophisticated and well versed.
Most people encounter such headaches when purchasing a vehicle and I am so fortunate that I found these folks! DO NOT hesitate to «deal» with another dealer — these people will treat you like a person and accommodate you and are extremely honest. I CANNOT believe this is MY review for a used car place! I am referring everyone here because Paul stated he can find any car someone would be interested in.
Only drawback is the car did not come with an owner’s manual and although the dealer stated they would contact me to try and get me one, I was never contacted and ended up having to buy a manual from eBay. The car also needed an alignment and a rotation of tires (which the dealer advised me to do).
Save yourself a headache and come here. A++++ place!

It’s hard to know who to trust in the used car business but you have found a reliable and honest dealer if you discover Autometrics.
I and my friends have bought many cars here over the years and we have found each of them to be in good condition and priced fairly. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and has the attitude that each customer may become a repeat customer and a referral for others. They deal with the sale and any concerns that arise with respect, efficiency, and honestly.

Ok, just wanted to give an update about 9 months later. My car is still going strong and I love it. I just had a oil change and inspection and things are still running smoothly. Thanks again Paul!

After hunting for months for a used car, I found my car here at Autometrics. The salesmen were nice, helpful, low key, and made it easy to get financing. What I loved most is that there was no pressure. Unlike my experience at the Honda Dealership, which I found to be quite the opposite of an experience.
I will definitely return when I am ready for another car, or recommend to anybody looking for great customer service in by a used car.

I HATE CAR DEALERS but i actually have nothing but good things to say about Paul at Autometrics!
to be honest i’d much rather buy a car from a private seller than dealing with used car salesmen. nevertheless i reluctantly went to Autometrics only because they were very highly recommended by a friend.
they had a nice selection of cars on the lot … something for every use/​lifestyle and, more importantly, every budget.
to my big surprise my entire shopping experience — from start to finish — was a pleasure! Paul did not push or pressure me in the slightest and very patiently showed me a number of cars and answered all of my (i am sure at times stupid) questions until i found the perfect vehicle for me.
the car had a very minor issue after i purchased it and Paul went ABOVE & BEYOND to take care of it. i told all of my friends about it and everyone was surprised with the level of service and care i received.

When I noted some flaws in the car we ended up buying, they fixed them for free.
