I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a very effective therapy for resolving long-​standing and unconscious patterns. I help people work through painful memories, find their sense of agency, and begin to change the things they can. I see adults, couples and children for short, medium and long-​term work – utilizing a wide range of therapeutic approaches adapted to meet my clients’ individual needs.

Although I am serious about this work, I try not to be heavy. I also seek to be mindful in my life, scrupulous about self-​care, and take special care to be fully present for you during your time with me.

History

Established in 2000.

I have been at my current location in El Cerrito for 5 years, before that, I worked in Berkeley. I started working with families in 1992, when I created Conscious Parenting, a 12 week series of classes to help parents with the desire to raise healthy children, without shaming and blaming. This grew into a desire to work more deeply with adults and children – especially those who had less than nuturing early childhoods, who felt completely powerless to change. A masters degree from Holy Names College in Counseling Psychology soon followed – and my career as a Marriage and Family Therapist had begun.

I have two primary goals, to help my clients reach their goals by providing psychotherapy with integrity, warmth, humor, and depth, and second, to educate people about the benefits of EMDR Therapy, especially its capacity to shorten treatment times and to free people from traumatic memories and self-​esteem zapping beliefs. I am also informed by my experience as a daughter, mother, and intimate partner – as they keep me grounded in the real world work of relationships.
