The food here is always delicious! Always freshly made and well made. Their daily specials are good as well and at a good price. Love coming here

Their fish tacos are pretty good. The only thing wrong about them is the cooks stack so much lettuce on top of the tacos that I don’t even see the tortilla and fish. The asada tacos are just okay, but their salsa saves it. Definitely had better.

I found a new love for this place again… I used to come here as a kid with my grams only drive thru tho and I guess I got tired of it? I loved their oven burritos which is what I used to order but I guess depending on what burrito you order they put lettuce in it and that was always a turn off for me but now that I am an adult Ive been coming inside the restaurant to eat and I always get the chorizo with eggs plate and watch the Dodgers play. Really big portions and they give you chips and salsa for free. I LOVE their red hot sauce, I forgot how much I missed that special taste! I mix that sauce with the salsa they give me with the chips and its perfect! Ive gotten the tall pitchers of beer here before too and its cool. Unlike other Garduno locations Ive seen, I feel like the atmosphere and building is more welcoming so I think this is the best one at least so far. I miss the old Choc thrift store across from here, brings back soo many memories… The only thing about this place is the wait time is long sometimes but its worth it! ;)

Oven burrito is amazing! Their chips are authentic and their horchata is delicious and made fresh. Great restaurant to eat at, huge 60+inch tv and the owner is hip and loves sports so feel free to ask about any game. Went on St. Patrick’s day, green beer, and free St. Patrick day cupcakes.

Ok, so this place is not in the best area, but man are their burritos good. This review is for their oven wet burrito. This burrito is soaked in deliciousness(cheese sauce) and served with a side of chips. What I love is that they’re not stingy with the meat. Their proportions are also great: just the right amount of meat, beans, and rice. Whenever I stop by, I usually go through their drive through. I have dined in once. The staff is friendly and service is always quick.

It was decent, at least the size was. They were very nice and attentive but without the food being on par with the customer service, it just doesn’t work. It’s a pretty popular spot as it was busy and people were watching the USC football game and some baseball on the TV’s but honestly, the food was ok… not bad, but also nothing to make me come back… which sucks because they were so nice.

We love this place, the food is so good love the oven burritos and the tortas awesome! Besides the food it’s the lady’s that make us feel welcome we are a family of 7 and we never get bad looks always so nice with us. I believe it’s the owner and the daughter that always gives us good customer service.

I’ve been going to this place since i was in high school which is about over 15 years. And i’ve always love this place food, service minus the roaches … But for the first time tonight i got attitude from the cashier saying they only take cash which many of times i paid with my debit. It almost made me feel she was discriminating me cause I was not hispanic, because the neighborhood has been taken over by chinese, which i’m not. They have lost a valued and loyal customer. And i don’t recommend people going here cause they are racists.

Reasons why you guys should pay a visit… 1) Love hole in the walls? This place is for you. This place looks really nice in the inside compared to the outside. 2) Fast and friendly service. Staffers are very attentive and will give you great recommendations. 3) Who doesn’t love economical breakfast, lunch and dinners. They have specials almost every day and I encourage you to come for the their happy hour … 3pm-7pm every day! They offer $ 2 beers and $.99 tacos! Plus, you get a basket of unseasoned tortilla chips! If you want more flavor, just apply lime juice on them. 4) Great place to watch sport games. They even show Dodger games! Direct tv, and non-cable/satelite providers would love this place! Reasons why you might not? 1) If you dine in, it is a bit warm. They have ceiling fans, but didn’t really cool me down as much. Compensate by drinking a cold beer or train your mind to think the place is nice and cool. 2) Expect to have some flies landing on you

A friend of mine recommended this place because she knows that I’m always looking for tasty, reasonably priced food. Unfortunately, she didn’t tell me what I should order. I ordered the three soft taco plate with rice and beans. The beans were ok, nothing special. They seemed to have no seasoning at all, and definitely didn’t have any tasty lard in them. The rice was also ok, but also not tasty. Now for the tacos: the carnitas was soft and tender, and there was a decent amount of meat. However, they appeared to have been stewed or cooked in a crock pot. They tasted like they weren’t seasoned and definitely were not fried in their own lard. I also got an al pastor taco, which had better flavor. Finally, the chips were a little greasy and my diet soda was terrible. Honestly, for a place whose staff appear to speak Spanish as their first language, the food is strangely bland and Americanized. I usually like to give places a second chance, as long as the food and service weren’t terrible, but there are a lot of food choices in the area. I don’t know if I will try it again.

This review is for the oven burrito only! Let’s just say for the price you pay, you get a butt load of food! I didn’t expect the burrito to have a type of cheese sauce on top, but man was it good! And they give a small side of chips. You can dip it in the sauce, so it’s just like nachos! I have to come back and try the other stuff on their menu.

Oven Burritos are most popular here, and it was pretty good. It’s not your usual sauce on top, as it was a similar taste to a type of cream-of-chicken and cheese. Happy hour everyday from xx-7:00pm means $ 2 beers!

I’m not sure if the wet burrito and the oven burrito are the same thing, but I just want to say that the oven burrito is so good. I love the cheese they use to drizzle over the huge burrito. I also like the chips that they serve which is nice and warm, but the salsa is just ok.

First time here today, just looking on the Unilocal map to discover new restaurants. Food was awesome and the chips were nice. Wish they’d have better sauce though, some tomatoes/pico de gallo. Not the best area in El Monte but worth it if your looking for a nice meal to sit down at.

Tried the 2 hard shell taco plate($ 7). Pretty good, not great. A 3.5 place. Not that much of a hole in the wall. Bottled beers during happy for $ 2. Lots of parking in the back. 3 tvs in the dining area showing sports. Service was fine.

I got a tip from an old cholo that this was a bomb place to come to, and when I mentioned it to my uncle in El Monte, he knew exactly where I was talking about. I can see how this place is an institution in the area, but giving 3 stars is difficult for me. I do know real Mexican food, and believe at one time this place had it, but when you have pastrami sandwiches and are using cheese from a can, you lost your credibility in my book. Good happy hour specials, I can see how one could have a craving for something from here. I appreciated their fresh chips and spicy salsa that was obviously real(not canned). I would not classify this as a «hole in the wall» as this is a stand alone building. It is a Quick service style, good local eatery. If you’re near Baldwin and Valley and HAVE to eat something I would definitely recommend, but if you want a REALHOLEINTHEWALLMEXICANFOODEXPERIENCE, drive a little farther to the corner of Rush and Central in South El Monte and go to Omana’s or for a comparable food experience(QSR Mexican) Go to El Taco Nazo on Garvey in El Monte.

I recently started a new job way over in El Monte. My interview for the job was literally my first time ever in the San Gabriel Valley. However, on my first day some of my new coworkers took me out to lunch and show me some of the city. Our office isn’t too far from Gardunos and my coworkers told me they served large portions of good food at low prices. Sweeeet! We showed up around 1pm and there was a small line. We probably waited less than five minutes before we put in our orders. I went with the chicken burrito smothered in their tasty cheese sauce. The burrito was a decent size, but not huge. The chicken was good and juicy but the real highlight was the sauce. Delicious! Gardunos is a great lunch spot in a casual Mexican setting. The portions are definitely enough to get you through the rest of the work day and not to mention you’ll leave with change from your ten dollar bill!
