1980 – 1989 Colorado Public Defender’s Office

Experience included preparing cases and jury trials in Denver’s municipal courts, county courts, juvenile courts and district courts. Handled serious felony cases throughout the entire state. Handled numerous high publicity cases. Handled all criminal cases including DUI cases, all juvenile offenses, all felonies, high publicity murders and other felonies.

1989 – 2010 Oaxaca & Bernal, Attorneys at Law

Handled major civil litigation including products liability cases, railroad litigation, mass tort cases, including lead counsel on lead poison case. Served as co-​counsel for Levi Straus in a case that was featured in USA Today. Also served as co-​counsel for Contico in a death case.

2010-​Present Abelardo P. Bernal, Attorney at Law

Solo practitioner handling and trying all civil and criminal cases in Colorado and Texas in both state and federal courts.
