Automobile Driving Museum

My daughter loves cars. Officers here are nice. Cars are pretty. We also can get free ice cream with check in. Hope she will be 10 years soon so we can take the classic cars ride.

Quaint little classic car museum by LAX. Docents are a bunch of retired classic car aficionados. The museum itself isn’t huge but it’s a nice way to spend a morning or afternoon. There is an ice cream parlor attached. Donations for admission are tax deductible!

I took my girlfriend here a few weeks ago, we had a blast. The staff was amazing, any car you wanted to know more about or get closer to all you had to do was ask. Taking a few rides around the block in some classics was an awesome treat! I will be back many more times for sure.

Gorgeous classic car collection tucked away not far from LAX. Had never heard of this venue until my brother was visiting last month with two of my nephews. What do the boys have in common? Cars!
Was impressed with the variety of autos in the collection. When we visited they were heavy into Packards, and Hollywood connections, like customized cars for Clark Gable and others in the 30’s. Nod to my grandfather’s love of Studebakers — there were several on display.
Will have to go back on a Sunday to ride in one of the three cars they take out each week so guests may ride in a vintage beauty.
They’re a non-​profit organization, so admission fees are suggested donation amounts.

Toook my bf since he loves classic cars! Beautiful collection, amazing and knowledgeable staff. They made the place so fun and entertaining by showing their enthusiasm for their job. And you get to ride on 3 classic cars on Sunday, what?! And they take out all the cars in their museum once a month! Woah!
They also have a cute 1950 ice cream shop. Just know the place is not so huge, one room with several cars but not a massive museum.
But this place is so Nice, and great for a date! Plus the beach is the 10 mins away. Highly recommended.

What a great time! The cars are great. It’s accessible for all ages. Especially on the first saturday of the month! They put on a hot wheels event and give toys away. The kids get to play with hot wheels tracks and they always support a good organization with donations. What a great jewel in a lovely town!

The donation of $ 10 is so worth it, because there’s such an array of cars that wind around the inside of the building. And on Sundays, they do joy rides! Keeping my eye out for a specific car in the collection I want to ride.
Each car has information on the history of the car and details, which is great. It’s very clean, lots of large windows to let the light in. Even a cute snack area where they have sweets, ice cream, and soda.
When we went there was ample parking on the side lot. It’s a little gem in El Segundo, if you’re in the area, check it out!

Thank you Unilocal for helping me find this little gem. My hubby really enjoyed viewing all the classic cars here. Unfortunately my 2 year old did not. Best to leave small children at home unless it is a special Kid’s event. My 2 year old could not grasp the idea of a no touch museum.
The volunteers there will tell you the history behind each car. We heard little snippets as we tried to pacify our child. There were cars available for joy rides (donation suggested).
They suggest a $ 10 donation for adults $ 5 for children. I overheard one of the volunteers talking about a car they acquired 10 years ago that belonged to Howard Hughes. I have to assume the money goes to the acquisition and maintenance of the cars. It is so fabulous that you can test ride them.
I am not a car person, but I admit the cars were beautiful. You can tell they take a lot of pride in the automobiles.
There is a party room and an old-​fashioned ice cream shop attached. Super easy parking. Worth checking out if you are nearby.

The Automobile Driving Museum has its name referring to the very interesting fact that all the cars in the museum are ready to drive on the street. This is quite a challenge to keep all these machines ready for use on the street, Really Amazing. Another point of interest is the note that the museum’s admission charge is a recommended donation. Note only recommended. The autos are in one large room with about eighty cars. There is a glassed in room that visitors are not allowed to enter that houses the ultra rare classics that can be viewed from a distance. There are cars here that are in the Rose Parade each year, cars that have carried dignitaries and even one customized Packard Pickup conversion. I found the quality quantity and condition of all the cars to be excellent. After talking to one of the docents I learned that they had several cars on loan from the Peterson Museum. Quite an honor to have loaners from such a prestigious museum. The Automobile Driving Museum also has multiple additional warehouses with several hundred other cars that they rotate into the displays. This makes the museum ever changing and always interesting. Each Sunday they choose three cars and give people rides in the cars. Every Sunday they choose three different cars. Wow! and if you check in with Unilocal there is an offer for Free Ice Creams. What a deal! The quality and selection of autos is marvelous and it is a worthy stop for anyone. When I was picking up my son who came in on a flight at Los Angeles International Airport, it was a simple 5 minute drive to pick him up. I found the museum to be a much more satisfying stop than a cell phone parking lot at the airport. So, plan a little extra time into your airport pickup or drop off and enjoy The Automobile Driving Museum. It is another one of the many small museums in beautiful Los Angeles area.

What a cool place! Took my little guy here for a Hot Wheels event. He was so curious and happy to see all the different cars! The folks were very nice and answered questions and interacted with my son.
This would be a really fun place for a team meeting, wedding or cocktail party! South Bay parents — this is a gem for kids birthday parties!!!

The advantage this museum has over other car museums is that you get to be driven around in the cars!
On Sundays only, they have 3 cars available for touring. The cars that are available rotate every week — we found out that they take EVERY car in this museum out for rides, with the exception of 1 – 2 that don’t run well, and the cars that are specially displayed behind glass. Check their website if there’s a day when your favorite car is going out for a ride! It definitely gives you an incentive to visit multiple times. FYI — no kids under 10 can go on rides :(
The museum itself is small-​ish, but has a nice collection of Packards and everything ranging from the turn of the 20^th century to today. The focus seems to be a little heavier on cars from the 20s-​40s (which I loved!).
They also have a small ice cream shop that you can get a treat in when you are done. 2 free sundaes with a Unilocal check in!
The docents were all very nice, and make themselves available to answer any questions you have.
It’s non-​profit, so be a good soul and give them the recommended donation when you come visit ($ 10 for adults).

This museum is a real treat for auto enthusiast. It literally one ups every car museum that I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to quite a few.
Almost there entire collection of cars are driven by their volunteers and for no cost at all, you can catch a ride in one or all of your favorite cars! That being said, they take donations and honestly, this museum is worth it!

5 dollars… !!! Absolutely outstanding. A chance to see up close beautiful pieces of auto art over the years. Check out their web site for all the different events, and you can even get to take a ride in one of the autos every week.

Hmm. First time here — but what a unique place! Firstly — admission is technically free, but they do ask for a 5.00 admission per person. Very reasonable! Ok– I paid it, and the asked if we’d like a docent to provide a guided tour. Well, sure — why now?
John was our docent, and showed us the 30’s-era showroom replica, and told us stories of many of the cars on display — very cool indeed. And here’s what’s unique– you can touch the cars. You can often get in them and reach inside of them (just try doing that at the Petersen — I dare you!). The best part? They had 3 cars just outside, with a free 2-​mile «drive». Now, you don’t get the drive the cars. But you do get to take a ride! Today’s selection included a 1936 Packard Saloon (said to have belonged to Stalin at one time!), along with a 1968 Pontiac Catalina convertible. Wow! Of course, we took rides in each — and why not! Our docent was even impressed enough with my new car (a Ford C-​Max Energi plug-​in hybrid) to ask if he could take it for a spin — well, why not?
In short– it’s long on Packards and other American cars of note — don’t look for Japanese or European cars here; you won’t find ‘em — But it’s worth going to if you’ve got any interest whatsover inside. of you for cars!

This is definitely a one of a kind of museum! I went here this past Saturday because my cousin’s wedding reception was held here. I was most definitely impressed with the venue! There are so many classic cars here! I made sure that I took a lot of pictures because I don’t have a museum like this near where I live.
The reception area was big and was able to accommodate a lot of people. It was well organized and the service was excellent! They did a great job, and I would definitely like to come back here again soon!

If you like Packards, this is your place, but to be honest, there is something for everyone here.
For me, I was looking for my surname, which I found in spades. There was a beautiful Stutz in all it’s glory behind glass in the ‘Concourse’ section, documentation in a display case, and a sales sign.
Because we visited on a Sunday, we got to ride (not drive) in one of three museum cars brought out onto the street. It was interesting to see all of the different switches and leavers on the dash and steering column.

Nice collection of old cars. Too bad almost all of them were off-​limits.
I wonder how some of you managed to get pictures of people sitting inside
the vehicle? All of the vehicles were roped off.
There was no admission fee, but they accept donations.
Since this place lacks hands on experience, I’d only recommend for adults and older children.

Who knew 130 classic, antique and vintage automobiles were here in El Segundo? After moving the museum & showroom from West LA about 5 years ago, you would have to be «in the know» to likely find this place. In a small industrial area, just one block from big boy Sepulveda… it’s worth the venture, and slowing down for.
This place is different than other auto museums, they add food, rides, and a smaller, more intimate experience. Packards, Tuckers, Cadillacs, Fords, and a whole lot more. Six rows of amazing vehicles, which many of us have only seen in movies.
The most expensive, valued at $ 1.2 million, was once owned by Howard Hughes. The oldest, an 1886 Benz Motorwagen. The most interesting, a 1942 Packard Henney Ambulance. Other celebrity owned vehicles once belonged to owners such as Errol Flynn, Ry Cooder, Jean Peters, Anthony Davis and Eleanor Roosevelt. My favorite (pictured, but I was too excited to take note of what it was):
I became aware the ADM just this past weekend, when I was invited to a family event. They have great space in the back for partys, weddings, bar-​mitzvahs, convention, and meeting space. They have a stage, lights, sound, and projector screen et’al.
Best part — come on Sundays from 11am-​3pm. For a $ 5 donation, they rotate 3 cars each week for guests to take a ride, take pics (and write a Unilocal).
Take note food truckers — Each Wed & Friday at lunch, 11am-​2pm, «Eat Fleet».

This museum is excellent. It’s in a strange location because most of the businesses in this area aren’t really taylored for foot traffic. You aren’t going to get many people who just stumble upon the place because they were walking or driving by. But if you find the place it’s a nice visit.
The building is located in a light industrial/​commerical zone so you have to be looking to find it.
