The best! Really enjoyed the veggie breakfast burrito! Now Unilocal is just reaching, asking for a short paragraph.

One of my favorite lunch spots. I’ve always enjoyed their sandwiches and cheeseburger. The sandwiches have a lot of flavor and the burger patty is thick. Generous portions, nicely varied menu options and the staff are always friendly. I recently went there looking for Smaro’s and got a little scared when I saw a window display of pastries and new signage that read Bread & Butter. I recognized the staff and found out they had a renaming. Whew! It’s the same spot! Crisis diverted. They’ve added some menu items as well as some delicious looking pastries. That reminds me – I need to hurry back to check out some of those pastries.

I went here spontaneously and was happily surprised. The first thing I noticed when walking in was how clean this place was. It was sparkling and the kitchen must be scrubbed down everyday to keep that luster and shine. It made me feel good about where my food was coming from since you can see all the cooking being done. The menu was about a dollar or two more expensive then the places next door, but I soon found out why. I ordered fish and chips, and they seemed to make the batter on the spot, then put some fresh fish into the batter and deep fried. Most places I go to generally just reheat. This made the crispy fish super juicy, and you could taste how good it was. The people who work there are proud of their kitchen and it shows. I would recommend this to all my friends you can’t beat this place in that stripmall. If you’re on Sepulveda and Mariposa, I recommend stopping by!

I have to admit that I was hesitant to try this place out during lunchtime based upon the reviews here but decided it to give it a try anyways. I went with their fresh whole tilapia with two sides(dill weed basmati rice and steamed vegetables). OMG. The food was absolutely delicious! Fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The dill weed basmati rice was what I would expect from a Persian restaurant. And steamed vegetables… well hard to mess that up. I ended up paying about $ 15 for lunch — a bit more than I would like to spend normally but since I wanted fresh fish, I knew it was going to cost me a bit so I went for it. I would definitely come back.

If this review had a title, I would title it, «Pleasantly Surprised 2.6» I tend to be stuck in rut when lunch time approaches. I work locally and the same dilemma always arises. Stuck between my go-to spot that always delivers AND is conveniently next door(Ahem, El Pollo Loco)… or experimenting with something I’ve noticed but never really considered because why try something new when you can get something you’ll definitely enjoy. I tried the beloved Philly Cheese steak that I’ve read about here. I must say… it didn’t disappoint. I’m not really a Philly Cheese steak aficionado or anything… however, I know they are usually heavy and loaded down with gooey cheese and delicious succulent beef. If you’ve never had that experience head over to Jersey Mike’s across the street and a food coma will happen. THIS cheese steak from SMARCO’s was rather light and almost refreshing. The ratio of meat, veggies, and cheese was very good. The guys put it on the grill after I ordered it and it took about 7 – 8 minutes to prepare. It was fresh and no «one» taste stood out. I had them spread some Garlic sauce on the bread, because I read that was the thing to do. Yes, this is the thing to do… At this very moment, as I type at my desk I don’t feel like I ate a cow. I didn’t have any fries or extras and that may be why… hmm… For less than $ 10, I’d give it a try if you’re in the area and feeling open to a Philly Cheesesteak that is probably not at all Philly style, but worth recognition in it’s own, «I need something to eat for lunch,» way. :)

Very small narrow short order grill in the middle of a typical strip mall. There are a few eateries right next to each other and it gets busy during work day lunch. Good luck in the tight parking lot. Walk inside and the order counter is on your right past the set of counter seats. A row of tables line the wall to your left. Soda machine next to a flat screen TV on the far back wall. The menu is a mix of old favorites; Salads(house, Caesar, chicken or fish) Burgers(beef, turkey, salmon or chicken), add fries and drink for under $ 10 Pasta dishes with garlic bread(shrimp, chicken salmon or vegetarian), all under $ 12 Seafood plates, tacos, sandwiches and pizza round out the menu. Most things between $ 6 and $ 12. They cover a lot more as this was just a sampling. The specialty of the place being their Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches. They use rib eye steak and all the fix’ns on a fresh French roll. Hold the mayo for me. Why is mayo a default option on a cheesesteak sandwich? Huh. The sandwich is decent and filling. The crew provides nice friendly service.

A nice small little restaurant in El Segundo. The huge menu display already caught my eye. Noticing healthy food choices and ingredients. I highly recommend the stuffed salmon. Stuffed with a huge chunk of baby shrimp and crab meat, along with a Caesar salad and mixed vegetables!

Food is great. Fast service. Reasonable prices. Only bad is they are closed on Sunday. Can’t speak for the seafood, but their other sandwiches were on par with my taste buds. Good fries too.

I was trying to find a fast place for lunch and punched in El Pollo Loco, but when I got there, they had no drive-thru and I had to get out of the car to go inside. Since I was out of the car, anyway, I decided on a whim to try something new, so I went next door to this place instead. I asked the guy behind the counter for some suggestions and he said the Philly Cheesesteak or the Tacos were good. I was in the mood for something more substantial than tacos, but(as implied by my original destination) also wanted chicken. I decided on the cheesesteak against my better judgement, seeing as how I just moved into the area from the East Coast and of course nobody can make a cheesesteak like *actual* Philly. I was wrong. This sandwich is amazing. Juicy, tender meat, crisp veggies, and a dry French roll that just sucks up all the juices. I’m an instant fan and will definitely be back the next time I get a hankerin’ for a good cheesesteak!

I come here every chance I get. Small place but I like it that way. I recommend the Grilled Salmon House Salad with pita bread. The house dressing is awesome; I need the recipe so I can make it at home. I LOVETHISPLACE.

Dropped by Smarco’s for a quick lunch time break. They have a menu of their daily specials outside the front door and the Salmon burger really caught my eye. I ordered it and decided to get a ceasar salad on the side rather than fries. The ceasar salad was actually really good, but I didn’t care for the salmon burger at all. I was expecting an actual piece of salmon on the burger, but it ended up being some sort of salmon patty. I should have asked ahead of time. The staff was attentive and very prompt. I wish I would have tried something else though.

They specialize on the Philly Cheese Steak, I ordered the combo with fries and drink. It’s not as good as what I have eaten in Philadelphia, but still delicious.

Smarco’s Grill is an odd little place, I can’t figure out what they specialize in it since they advertise everything from fish sandwiches — kebabs — pizza — Philly cheese-steaks and et al. I usually avoid these types of places cause from my experience places that do everything do everything mediocre, ya know? Anyway, looking for a change of pace I decided to try their cheese-steak and OMG… it’s like crack especially with either their garlic sauce or lathered in hot sauce. I don’t know much about the other stuff but I do like their cheese-steak,

I like the Philly Cheesesteak combo. They load the sandwich up with grilled veggies and melted cheese but I wish they would add a little more meat. The seasoned fries are also taste fairly good except you pretty much need to eat them immediately because they get soft. I want to give them 3.5 stars but I’ll round up because of the free refills at the soda fountain and the friendly service.

I’ve been going here off and on since I started working in the area 4 years ago and things have changed, some for the better, some not so much. The best change? Their new fries. They used to use really crappy frozen fries and cooked them just enough to call done, tossed some season salt on them and then threw them in a plastic container where they proceeded to get ten kinds of soggy. Now they have thin, fresh cut fries cooked to a beautiful well-doneness and then tossed in a nice seasoning mix that even incorporates some herbs. Finally, these golden glories are placed into a paper bag as fries should be. Not so good, they still charge the same price for sandwiches that have shrunk as time went on. What was once an 8 – 10 inch roll is now scratching the bottom of 6 inches. I don’t care, just give me more fries.

I want to start by saying that I really enjoy this place. I wish I could give them a higher rating. The food is really good, and the service is always great for the little restaurant that it is. The thing is, it’s just really overpriced for what it is. And for how expensive it is, the food isn’t that amazing. Their price rating isn’t correct. Be prepared to spend over $ 10 per person here, which is fine, but it’s a little hole in the wall and the servings are small compared to what you pay for. But with that full disclosure, I admit that you’ll enjoy a meal from here.

— Overnight Parking @ LAX: $ 12 — Roundtrip airline ticket to Philadelphia: $ 689 — Taxi ride to and from Geno’s Steaks: $ 96 — Finding a great Cheese Steak near LAX instead: priceless Like Chuck Norris, a great Philly Cheese Steak can’t be beat. The secret to a great Cheesesteak is that it must be eaten in Philadelphia. Ask anyone from Philly and they’ll tell you that there are no(usually said with emphasis like«NOoooO!») great Cheese steaks outside of Pennsylvania. That might be true. When I went to Philly the cheesesteaks were pretty dang good. However, to be honest, I actually really liked the Cheese Steak at tiny Smarco’s Grill almost as much. This review is for one thing and one thing only: the Philly Cheese Steak. The Smarco’s menu is eclectic with grilled fish, kabobs, pizza, burgers, pastas, sandwiches, and tacos. I have no idea what their specialty is, but since the bright Cheese Steak sign out front is what led me in, I stuck to it. The Cheese Steak sandwich($ 7.25) is prepared right behind the counter while you watch. Not only is it made fresh, but it tastes fresh. They take a sliced French Roll and lace it with Best Food’s Mayonnaise. From the grill, it’s stuffed with thin slices of Rib Eye Steak, sauteed Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, and Onions. Provolone Cheese completes the magic before being served hot. From the first bite to the last lick of my greasy fingers, I loved this sandwich. Hey, who needs a diet? Fahget about it.
