Hyatt House Lax El Segundo

Well this sucks… I made a reservation a few weeks ago for valentines and today (3days before vday) i get a call stating they are OVER BOOKED! Im sure everywhere else is booked too. Thanks alot for the very short notice! It was going to be so convenient since we are dining in the area. All of the surrounding hotels cost more and are booked. It really would have helped if you guys said something about a week ago that you could not honor my reservation.

Hotel very clean and new. Beautiful room with couch area. Only downside was room was so cold. Took awhile to have someone come up and fix it. That said the food was good in the hotel and staff was so helpful. Nice breakfast with fruit eggs waffles n juice complimentary

Stayed here for one night with 4 adults and 2 infants. Hotel location and complimentary hot breakfast were great. We checked in early evening but didn’t notice the blood (or red wine?) splatters on the walls in one of the bathrooms till almost midnight. There was also caution tape outside the room and tape on our window. Called to speak with a manager the next morning but there were no managers available. I left a message for a manager but did not receive a return call. I called again the next day and left a message for a different manager and still have not received a return phone call. I did inform the front desk of the situation and they were kind enough to waive the parking fee. Thought the room accommodations were perfect for a family but the splatters on the walls were creepy and disturbing.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Free coffee all day, complimentary breakfast in the morning. The rooms were comforting and clean and the front desk lady was very kind and welcoming. The pools’ warm temperature during the night time was perfect. The rooms were spacious, updated, organized and detailed. Had a relaxing time :) I am definitely coming back!

I came here for business. Upon entering the main lobby, I was immediately welcomed by two employees who were working the front desk. They were enthusiastic and very friendly. The check-​in process was quick and easy. Parking here was never an issue, plenty of spaces available. I got the Deluxe One-​Bedroom Suite and I could tell it was a newly renovated room. I had read on their site a bit back that their rooms were undergoing renovations. There’s what looks like new furniture and new electronic appliances.
The living area was very spacious and comfy. The couch was very relaxing as well. The kitchen was fantastic. It came fully equipped with utensils, mugs, glasses, etc. A full sized refrigerator was also in the kitchen, very convenient. The only gripe I had with the kitchen was the microwave. It’s very nice looking but kind of complicated to use. Way too many buttons, but I eventually found out how to get the job done. The bedroom was also very nice, the bed EXTREMELY comfortable. I loved the pillows :). The bathroom was also very clean and modern looking with an awesome shower. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was good. Bagels, toast, cereal, juices, home fries, scrambled eggs, fruit, cottage cheese etc. I’m glad that they had good Seattle’s Best coffee in the lobby.
I’ve been eyeing a stay at this hotel for a while and I’m glad I’ve finally gotten the chance to try it out. I’d definitely stay again. It’s also great for travelers since its in a good area with plenty of options for dinner, entertainment, and shopping around. It’s near many shopping plazas that are packed with many different businesses.
I’d definitely recommend this hotel.

The website is misleading and staff is rude. The cost for a pet is NOT 25 dollars as is stated online but a whopping 75. Per night. Ugh. Rude and dishonest. Nice!

I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel was great and my kids loved it. The staff was great and attentive. The breakfast was better than any other included breakfasts I’ve had in hotels. I will definitely recommend to all my family coming into town.

A USED condom was found in the bed. All staff was rude. The situation was not handled properly at the hotel not through the 800 number who just kept calling the hotel back and transferring me. I am completely and utterly dissatisfied with the service received. The situation was also not rectified properly. I will not spend my money at any Hyatt properties in the future and will be terminating my passport account when the point have been used. I am disappointed in the Hyatt brand.

We had a first floor room on the front side. Train was not a problem for us. The breakfast is quite good including the cook-​to-​order omelet bar. The pool was clean and heated. The one bedroom suite was clean and very spacious. The atrium is very nice in the evening with a warming fireplace.

Good service and ample breakfast options. The staff were accommodating and helpful even as I was probably the last person to check in for the night.
The room is big since it’s a suite. The bathroom in my room needed a little work since the shower fixture, toilet, and door were starting to come apart. The room is next to the MTA tracks which might bother some light sleepers. They provide ear plugs, very considerate. Otherwise quiet and no aircraft noise.
Parking is difficult (light construction was on site), and you need to have your car license/​info to get a pass. Overall a good stay.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Knocks at the door at 11pm & midnight both nights of our stay. Shady people walking around. Loud people upstairs. Dirty. Not enough parking. Right next to the train that runs all night. NEVER AGAIN

Arrived at Hyatt House following an awful experience with a rental car agency and was excited to get into my room. Checked in, unpacked my bags, ran to the store— returned within a span of 20 minutes. 25 minutes into my adventure, a man enters my room with a key!!! When he sees me, he promptly explains that he is housekeeping??? Housekeeping in the afternoon, after I recently checked in and without providing sufficient notice?
I called the front office to complain to Evelyn. Whom advised she would handle the situation. Did I mention that was more than 3 hours ago and I haven’t heard from her since? Think I’m just going to check out and go to a safer hotel. It costs too much to stay here to put up with this foolishness.
Cost more than the Embassy Suites, but less security and less professional staff.

This is one of the best hotels. The staff are super friendly, super helpful, and they treat you with the upmost care. The hotels are clean! If you have a family, and you want to have some home cooked meals you could do it here. There is a Costco near by, fresh and easy and a trader joes. If you want to bbq they also have a grill and utensils for you. There’s a tennis court and also a basketball court.
People complain about the trains and the kids in the pool, but those are all lies. Those must be some crabby people who hate life! But if you are one of those people then you could easily request something away from the pool or the train.
They also have a pull out couch which isn’t bad either. Oh and the free breakfast doesn’t hurt either. The first time I read the reviews about the breakfast I was a bit scared to try it. Those people are all liars. Breakfast is good. I mean it’s not gourmet, but it’s real breakfast. Those who complain are just complainers.
This place is also a nice escape for couples who enjoy cooking for each other. Romantic dinners without having to deal with the wait lines and the annoying chatter.
I’ve been here twice and I just love this place.

Newly remodeled so everything looks really nice and is super clean. We loved staying here. Walkable distance to some nice restaurants and felt like we were in our own little apartment. The staff is really friendly too! Definitely recommend to stay here if in the area.

Business trip lasting 26 nights.
I was assigned to El Segundo for a business trip which lasted 27 days. I chose Hyatt House El Segundo because they had a better rate that Marriott Residence Inn (for the entirety of my stay) and because they offered many of the same amenities that I expect out of a long term hotel stay.
Bedroom area — I was placed in a one bedroom king suite. The bedroom can be closed off and locked if needed. The room was almost exactly like the pictures found in many of the other reviews found on this site. Smaller flat screen located in the bedroom. The auxiliary connections worked for this TV unit which allowed for a gaming system to work in perfect order. The TV channels available were not as varied as I am used to in a national chain but there were still enough that I didn’t feel like I was living in the Mojave.
Kitchen — The kitchen area provided a full refrigerator, a two burner electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, and a dishwasher. I was provided with a small sauce pan, a larger cooking pot, and three different sizes of Pyrex clear glass bowls. I was also provided with four each of the following: spoon, tea spoon, fork, butter knife, 8 oz. glass, wine glass, coffee mug, plate, bowl, and appetizer plate. There was also a cutting board, various size kitchen knives, measuring spoons and cups, a chees/​vegetable grater, and a colander. The freezer had a tub for ice in it, but I never saw an ice maker anywhere.
Living/​Dining Area — One table with two dining chairs. One desk with desk lamp and desk chair. All of the lights in the Living/​Dining area as well as in the kitchen were on motion sensors so that they lit up as you entered each room. Large flat screen in the living room with a side-​panel on the side of the TV stand which allowed you to plug in various A/​V cables from a computer/​media players.
Continental Breakfast — Consisted of various items which rotated on a daily basis. There was a rotation between pancakes and French toast. You had a choice of regular syrup or light syrup. Biscuits and gravy were served on Sunday only and did not figure into the weekly rotation. Proteins rotated between, bacon, ham, and link breakfast sausage. Scrambled eggs were provided daily as well as country potatoes. There was always yogurt in a large bowl from which you would fill your personal bowl. It was the same with the cottage cheese. Fruit consisted of either grapefruit slices of a mix of cantaloupe and honeydew. Oatmeal was provided with brown sugar, «Craisins», raisins, and/​or granola. There was a box which held various breads (English muffins, wheat, white, bagels) and a toaster with butter and jams on the side. Beverages consisted of Orange juice, apple juice, milk and tomato juice. There is an omelet bar which was available every morning that I ate there. The omelet bar consists of filling out a quarter-​sheet piece of paper (eggs v. egg whites /​type of cheese /​added ingredients) with your order and your name. When the omelet is done, they call your name and you pick up your omelet. I never used the service so I am not able to speak to the time delay between placing an order and picking up the omelet, but other coworkers indicated that it took 5 – 7 minutes. If you wanted to take your breakfast back to your room, there were disposable plates and utensils for your use.
Internet — Wireless internet over the entirety of the complex. The internet was a little slow for my tastes but not so much so that I refused to use it. It did struggle to play full episodes of my favorite shows on my internet browser though.
Food — There is a room service menu with items provided by a third-​party vendor common to the area. I never used the service, but the menu was varied and more expansive than I am used to seeing in a room service menu. The geographical area is littered with a myriad of restaurants which provide for a wide variety of eating choices.
Cleaning — Hyatt House gives you three options for room cleaning each day. There are little magnets with each option on the inside panel of your door. Each morning you just select the option that you want and place that magnet on the outside panel of your door by 8:00 a.m. The first option is no room service at all. The second option is full room services (replacing all linens, towels, garbage, dishes etc.), and the last option is something in-​between (new towels, made bed, garbage and dishes). I wish there was an option for just a made bed and garbage because I didn’t feel as if my towels needed to be replaced every day, but alas, those were my choices.
Staff — The staff was very helpful and kind.
Stay — My overall stay was very pleasant. I am sure that I will have to return to El Segundo on business again one day. I will probably still try to get into the Marriott Residence Inn, but if that is not available I will have no problems returning to the Hyatt House El Segundo.

for our ‘staycation’, we used our free night and ended up here. (newport beach, santa monica, etc was booked) i know that technically it isn’t a staycation if one is staying at a hotel, but hey…
they give you a small snack upon arrival (it was just 2 cookies with a small water). breakfast buffet is complimentary (more on that later). iced water is available in the lobby.
hotel rooms are modern and spacious. there is a kitchen with everything you need: utensils, pots/​pans, towels, glasses, plates, cheese grinder, measuring cup. you can prepare and cook your food, then store it in the full-​sized fridge. if you need other things, they are available to be borrowed at the front desk. for example, if you needed a blender. (they also have crib, high chair, booster chair, etc for those of you with little ones)
there is a pool with a clean bbq area bbq utensils can be borrowed also. this is convenient for people who want to spend time at the hotel. besides, there is fresh n’ easy, trader joe’s, and costco nearby.
this would be a good place for families on a budget who wanted to stay at the hotel for the entire day.
so the 3 stars is probably because we stayed on a holiday weekend. the consensus is that regularly the place is quiet and pleasant. well, since it was independence day, there were just too many people… namely for breakfast.
breakfast buffet wasn’t appetizing. they had scrambled eggs, bacon, bagel/​toast/​english muffin, some yogurt (in a huge bowl, not individual, so i didn’t want to touch it). fruit didn’t look that fresh. there is milk, OJ, coffee, tea.
i believe that KIDS UNDER 12 YRS OLD should have their parents grab their food.
THIS IS WHY:
some of the kids didn’t have manners. i saw a kid who put some scrambled egg on his plate. then poured it back the buffet pan. then the new bacon came. this one kid grabbed about 15 pieces of bacon. really… teach your kids some manners people. (but i have to say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…)
for the omelette station, you fill out a paper with your order. since it was a holiday weekend, the ETA for your omelette is roughly half an hour (mine actually took 40 min). but the omelette was the best thing at the buffet! i hope they are paying the hardworking kitchen enough.
also when they were refilling the stations with food, the workers had to come through the crowded area where we are to put the food in. would’ve have been better if they could refill it from the inside, like behind the counter. cuz it was kind of dangerous with all the people and kids who weren’t really making themselves aware of the food coming behind them.
* TIP:
1) call the front desk to let them know that you want a room in a more quiet area. we called and they were happy to take our request. you don’t want to be close to the train side.
2) parking is free,
3) it is walking distance from restaurants.
4) they have shuttle service within 3 miles. note that manhattan beach pier is only 2.2 miles *but i didn’t use the service, you would have to ask how you get back… if you need to call them for pickup, etc

I stayed here while I was visiting my husband. It wasn’t my first time, and what really bothered me was how much worse this place has gotten since a year ago. :(
First, all the stars come for the people. They are all SOOOO nice. That is really rare in LA, and I really didn’t expect it at a roach hotel (hehe). But they are all sweet and super helpful.
My first problem was that they cancelled some of the perks. There used to be a light dinner on weeknights. They cancelled it! They used to give me a little snack when I checked in. Now I don’t know if that’s standard or maybe the guy was just flirty the last time I came. So maybe the perk was removed or maybe I just got fat over the past year, but in any event, I wasn’t offered a treat from their treat shelf. Boohoo.
When I checked in, the carpets were super dirty. I took off my shoes (stupidly) and my feet were black in a few minutes. Note to self: bring some pedi slippers the next time you stay here.
The breakfast was OK, but it was pancakes and sausage and they didn’t have any syrup??? There were indians there turning the pancakes into little burritos by putting salsa, cheese and tabasco sauce on them??? Maybe that’s how they are supposed to be eaten now? Anyway, the pool water was cold. Maybe to you SoCal people, March isn’t pool time, but for a girl from NorCal, a 65 degree March is bikini weather. I would have liked to take a dip.
Anyway, I like the people, price and location (close to airport) of Hyatt House El Segundo, and I hope things get better there.

What a nice stay~ from initial greetings by Kim and Alex to all the calls checking on us during our stay ~ I was very impressed with the rooms and the service… I highly recommend the Hyatt House!!!;)

OK. My BFF came visiting from out of town and stayed here. I have to say I like the suite! Each room has its own individual entrance, so it’s more private feeling. The hotel looks quite new, everything inside the room was very nice, so it must have been renovated compared to the other reviews. Technically the suite (2 beds + sitting room + kitchen) can sleep 6, so for a family traveling the price point is good. The kitchen is small, almost as small as the ones in Japan, but better appliances. The fridge is standard size. The pots and pans and utensils are not the best, but still usable. For people who have special diet needs, this is definitely a good choice.
I like it. Breakfast and a social hour meal (which can be early dinner) is also included. The meals change daily, some days are better than other. Can’t complain about the free food these days. So it’s all good. The people who stay there are also not ghetto, so that’s nice too.

Location is great. Staff is friendly. The place is generally nice and comfortable. However, it is a bit dated. You have «corded» phones. The carpets are in need of a shampooing (I wore shoes the whole time). The room I was in had some issues. The air conditioner would not go off despite being turned off. The fire detector was hanging by wires (probably violating some fire safety codes). I’m sure maintenance would fix these issues if brought to their attention. Expect a bit of noise in the morning hours. The building on the SE corner of Continental and S. Douglas has a lot of morning deliveries (you’ll wake to the sounds of trucks reversing). The NE side is close to the metro train. Neither bother me too much, but I’ve heard others complain.
There seems to be an inordinate amount of families «living» there despite the fact that it really isn’t conducive (only one bedroom with a king bed). Like most of the Hyatt Houses, this one suffers from an identity crisis. It is too small and not well suited for the beach vacationer volume, and it is less appealing to the business traveler (because of blackout dates and arbitrary price spiking). It is however well suited for the month-​to-​month business stay (either looking for a place to live, or only here for a few weeks at a time). There are plenty of businesses here to fully utilize the facilities, so it is frustrating that it is marketed for vacationers, for which it is an awkward/​make-​do fit at best.
Initially, the management refused to take points, which in my opinion is the most offending. This is not geared towards vacationers It is intended for business (judging by the convenience to local businesses). There is no «high season» for business. There are hotels near the beach that are intended for vacationers.
My second complaint, at pretty much all Hyatts I’ve been at, is the very unacceptable WIFI service. AT&T will cut you off on long downloads. It makes the service unusable for business. It also arbitrarily cuts you off just during normal usage, which is less annoying, but still unacceptable for a business oriented hotelier (located in government and business center). To make things worse, Verizon has poor signal in the area, so don’t bank on using your 4G (dependably).
