Jackson’s Food + Drink

This is a cool spot! I ordered the braised beef short ribs. I felt it was very tasty. The Mac and cheese was definitely very flavorful and unique. The outside patio can be very loud. It was nice to be outside though. I really enjoyed the fireplace too.

I’m willing to give Jackson’s another try because after coming here for lunch a couple weeks ago, everything was great, service, atmosphere… But the burger I had, which was their guacamole and sriracha number was not worth a reprise. I doubt it was, but it had that kind of impossibly thin for a sit down restaurant, frozen-​then-​thawed-​and-​cooked consistency that was unexpected after trying a piece of the marguerite pizza which I did enjoy.

I had high hopes for this place, but I was sadly disappointed. It’s in a somewhat odd location, but it’s right next to the Arclight. I had grand visions of finding a really good place to eat prior to seeing movies at the Arclight. What a perfect combination. But I was mistaken. My fiancé had been before and said it was mediocre. But, since she only had apps and a drink, she was wiling to give it a proper go.
We received a letter in the mail for a Spring promo. Fixed menu, reasonable price. So we went.
I got the soup and she got the civiche. The civiche was bland. Very bland. Very generic. I would give it ⁵⁄₁₀ I got the soup, which was actually really good. It was the best plate of the night. 8.5÷10.
Next were the main dishes. She got the pasta, which was hardly edible. It tasted like chili. No joke. It was one of the worst dishes I have ever had. I have never sent a dish back because I didn’t like it. I still haven’t, but this one tested my limits, for sure. ¹⁄₁₀. I got the filet. Again, nothing special. The Gorgonzola cheese that was melted on the top was over powering. The polenta was tasteless. ³⁄₁₀
Thank god for dessert. We ordered the chocolate, which was nice. Not out of this world, but nice. ⁶⁄₁₀
The service was average. She was attentive, and did everything by the book, but she wasn’t engaging or passionate. I love it when servers are excited to have you dine with them. Makes the whole experience better. ⁷⁄₁₀
They do have a decent beer and wine selection, so I’ll give em that. I would go back if it were just for a drink, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. I don’t think I’ll ever eat here again.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. Decided to go in as I had to have a meeting with some coworkers. I was SATISFIED. Loved everything. Quality taste, great customer service. I’m so happy I finally had the opportunity to try this place out. Can’t wait to go back!

What a nice surprise! We went there to meet friends that were staying at an hotel close to LAX, so we picked this place based on Unilocal reviews.
I had the past with clams (a lot of them) and it was very good. My wife got the risotto and she was also happy. My fiends shared a steak and they where very happy.
I didn’t try them, but they have a large variety of beers

First time here was for Mother’s Day brunch. The food was really good and the Prix Fixe option was versatile and really good! I ordered the Chili crab asparagus Benedict and it was so great! I will definitely be back!

Extremely upset the food was amazing !! That is why I rate it 2 stars but our waiter was horrible she didn’t even bring us forks my boyfriend had to get up and go get them from another table. Then she was rushing us and made us feel like they were closing and it was 9:40 you guys close at 11 – 30 she was on her phone the whole time. Great food bad service !!

We usually eat at restaurants peripheral to this place so just wanted to check it out.
First impression. Inside it is fairly small with a larger covered outside area. Too chilly to eat outside tonight.
We started with the soup of the day. French onion. In a coffee mug. I was expecting at least a bowl. Tasted ok. Not super.
Moving on to the mac & cheese. Very average. Not terrible.
Main course. I had the AB ribeye (at market price) & wife had the short rib. Both were Incredibly tender. Short rib tasted great. The ribeye, again, was good. Not great. Especially at $ 45.
Tried dessert … Wife chose the mint ice cream sandwich while I chose the banana flambé.
The sandwich seemed store bought. Presented on a plate cut in quarters. Not so fancy. Again. Small size for $ 7.75.
The banana flambé was brought out. A bowl of vanilla ice cream with some caramel sauce and 3 or 4 cold banana slices. No flambé. Just a lame banana split. When asked about the flambé. Our waitress said it happens in the back. (not so sure that happened. Bananas were cold and not caramelized)
Kind of disenchanted with this experience .
Food was ok but way overpriced.
Sorry, I would not consider this two dollar signs ($$).

Food was not bad at all. Had the braised short ribs and I was not disappointed. The salmon was actually pretty good as well. Ambience is quite cozy. I would defiantly come back :)

First time here and absolutely loved it! Hamachi ceviche was delicious and pastas are super tasty! Will for sure be back for more!

I was staying in a nearby hotel and found this place on Unilocal.I wanted a light bite and a couple glasses of wine after a long work week. I’m not familiar with the area at all, but parking was easy. It was early on a Saturday evening. I was able to park in the garage without any issue.
The ambiance is warm. I sat at the bar since I was solo. The bartender was friendly and I ordered the rose.
They were advertising their ceviche on the chalkboard so I ordered the shrimp tostada ceviche and clams. The ceviche was ok, the clams were good. Had a very nice broth, but could’ve used a larger portion size, even if it cost a little more. It’s definitely not an app to share.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and drink. The prices were reasonable, but didn’t think there was anything that stood out.

The service was not good at all. The only person that asked to refill our drinks was the bus boy. The waitress was absolutely terrible. Never once asked how we were doing. It was not even busy at all.
As for the food, it was okay at best. The burger was very bland and the bread was very dry. The only good thing about the meal were the fries.

Worst service ever! Wasn’t even that busy, but sat at our table for 15 minutes and no one bothered to greet us. Not even a «will be right with you». Worst part is, we walk to the front and told the hostess «sorry, we’re going to take off because we waited for 15 minutes and no one greeted us.»
The hostess said «sure, okay!» in a pretty cheerful tune.
No apology, nothing! Worst!

Jackson’s for happy hour! What a place to start the evening with a friend. Let me tell you about the delishness of their menu! There is nothing better to complement good conversation that a table full of good food!
We had their Steam clams, a hot caldron of buttery and garlicky manila clams. Clams are one of my favorite and these did not disappoint. Following up on that we had the Oyster Rockefeller, if you like fresh bbq clam like they served in New Orleans, these are the next best thing. Their Pepperoni Flat Bread Pizza, is a meal in itself. The flat bead was doughy, just the way I like it, but when covered with pepperoni and cheese… I may not go back to regular pizza. The crispiness of the pork belly along with the soft mash potato like texture of the polenta is just a match made in heaven. The beet salad is just right dish to cleanse the palette after the all the goodness of this meal.
Next time? The natural progression would be dinner… right?

Huge fan of Jackson’s. My husband and I met on our first date here. We go back there at least once a month. They have an affordable happy hour and their entrees are great too. The flatbread pizzas are my favorite happy hour menu item.

We ate here the other night before seeing a movie next door at AMC. Flank steak was very good! Nice marinade! Service wasn’t too great, and I found a nylon bristle brush in my salad!
Convenient location if going to the movies. I might try it again.

This place is super cute with really good food and drinks.
The ceasar salad was one of the best I’ve ever had!
They have indoor and an enclosed patio with a fire pit and good tunes.
I had a lovely meal and would love to come back real soon!

Wish they were serving food from the menu to give a real review however we got here at 10:30p and they were only serving from the happy hour menu.
We ordered the margherita flatbread pizza, pepperoni pizza and the seared pork belly with Parmesan cheese polenta.
The place is small but it’s cute. I love that their drinking glasses are recycled wine bottles. I have a candle at home made of a recycled wine bottle. Moving right along lol the pizzas were good and the pork belly was mainly fat (at least one of the two were) not seasoned well enough but it wasn’t that bad.

Came here again for dinner with friends and I have to say, I don’t get why people come here. It was packed, and again, I’m clueless as to why.
Petite filet– they weren’t lying when they said it was petite because it was pretty much the width of a glass. It was sooo small, and ok fine it’s petite, but it wasn’t even cooked well. Hubby said it was super chewy, and the polenta cake, which was the same size as the steak, had zero flavor. None. $ 28 for that? Uh no thank you, we’d rather go to any other restaurants down the street, pay a little more, and get a more substantial and better tasting steak.
The only saving grace of last night’s meal was their grilled shrimp linguine, which was pretty good, but the dish was also $ 23 and that def is overpriced to me.
Service was also lacking. Our water glasses were empty for quite a while until I was able to flag someone down, and our waiter hardly checked in with us at all.
Seems like Jackson’s is trying to be something upscale and so they price their food as such, but the quality and taste just isn’t there, and I doubt I’ll be back.

We’ve been here quite a few times since they have opened a few years ago. But then downtown Manhattan Beach started sprouting a bunch of new and eclectic restaurants that we rarely saw the need to drive out to this side of town for dinner.
Anyway, I’m glad we came here for dinner because this time I’m particularly happy with my meal. I think there was a lot of trial and error for me regarding Jackson’s but I think my favorite and go to dish for this place is the miso cod with the corn on the side. Soooo good! I can’t wait to learn how to make miso cod in the future when I’m entertaining! In the mean time this will be my go place whenever I am craving this dish.
For those who don’t like fish, their flat bread pizza is pretty spot on just ask them to make it extra crispy.
The Mr had some sort of chicken dish, which came out drenched in sauce and plantains. My step daughter had a simple pasta with prawn dish which she readily finished.
