Established in 1974.

The Murad Inclusive Health Medical Group has been in its present South Bay location since 1995. Dr. Murad opened his first dermatology office in 1974 and his first medical day spa in 1985. Combining his training as a pharmacist and his experience as a dermatologist, he founded Murad, Inc. in 1989 to share with the world a comprehensive line of skin-care formulas designed to achieve significant measurable results without surgery.

Howard Murad, MD, FAAD, has devoted his life to helping make beautiful, healthy skin attainable for everyone. His unique formulas and inclusive approach to overall skin and body health have helped millions of people. A board-certified dermatologist, trained pharmacist, and associate clinical professor of medicine (dermatology) at the Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA, Dr. Murad has treated more than 50,000 patients. Dr. Murad currently holds 18 patents for advances in the science of skin health. He is a prominent proponent of The Science of Cellular Water™, which looks at the ability of cell membranes to hold water as the fundamental marker of youthful good health and which advocates an Inclusive Health approach to help the body create stronger, healthier cells as a pathway to beauty.

I went to this place yesterday to take advantage of a free skin cancer screening. I believe Dr Murad was doing the free screenings all day. I was about 2 minutes late because I neglected to bring the notes the scheduler gave me to find the office-it is tricky– and ended up touring 4 buildings. lol Everyone was very nice and understanding though about this when I arrived.
The office was clean, everyone was super nice and attentive, and they had water and cookies for people and good magazines. I was seen immediately. It was not a complete skin cancer check as the MD only looked at the 3 areas I had questions about and one other many doctors miss but my cancer fears were eliminated and that is why I went.
Dr Murad was very personable and understanding as he checked my horribly ugly hiker feet for issues and gave me advice on how to nourish myself better on the trail. When he found out I was a nutrition buff he gave me his signed book which I cannot wait to read and a sample of sun screen w antioxidants.
I know that I am the perfect type of customer for these places being over 40 and wanting to stay attractive but not once did I feel the hard sell and not once were services suggested like at other places. In fact he said I was doing everything right. I’m not but I am glad someone thinks so. lol
The only reason this is not 5 stars is because I did not have a longer appt to fully assess things. But I would definitely go back to utilize their other medical/beauty services.

I had an appointment with Dr. Murad today. His office fit me into his tight schedule on the same day for him to examine my skin and scalp after a a color job gone wrong. I found Dr. Murad kind, friendly, and so very knowledgeable. He gave me samples of creams so that I didn’t have to spend money at the pharmacy. He even presented his latest book with an inscription for free. I did not feel that he was trying to sell anything at all. He was an excellent doctor and spent loads of time explaining exactly what had happened to my skin. Dr. Murad even took time to talk to my two children who came to the doctor’s visit. I love, love Dr. Murad!!!

Dr. Chiu is kind and smart, and she’s successfully helped me with a few different skin problems. The prices for cosmetic treatments are fair, and once she even gave me a little bit of a deal. Since I started seeing her about six months ago, I have received numerous compliments on my skin. Wow, that’s really not something I’m used to and I feel that I owe it all to Dr. Chiu.
She does use Murad products, and she will give you samples, but she doesn’t try to push them on you at all. in fact, she has recommended a few drug store products for me. But like all medical practices, it is a business, and there is definitely a pro-Murad feel to the place.
It can be weird and uncomfortable to talk to someone about your cosmetic skin issues, and maybe sometimes I think I’m being vain and I shouldn’t talk about it at all, but Dr. Chiu is easy to talk to and I really like her a lot.

My first visit with Dr. Chiu was a good experience. She is very friendly and has great bedside manner. Hopefully the prescriptions I got will work, next follow-up in 2 weeks. Since this review is for the Medical Group and not Dr. Chiu i could not give em a 5 star since i had to wait 45 minutes for the doc when literally no patients were in the waiting room; not cool Murad scheduling team!

I was referred to Dr. Chiu from one of my girlfriends and just walked in with no appt for a rash. She was able to see me right away and was extremely sweet and very professional.

Dr. Chiu is heaven sent, I’ve been a loyal Murad client at the spa for years and have really love all their products. Now that I am getting older I needed to graduate from the facial services to doing a little more for my wrinkles and dull skin. The girls at the spa were raving about her so I have been a loyal fan of hers since. I am so excited about the botox she did on me, she literally erased years off my skin and I have an amazing glow from a resurfacing peel she did on me.
I loved my results so much that I asked her to just do a few drops of filler in my lips and it was just right. She knew exactly how to give me soft pillowy lips without making me look overdone. All my girlfriends have been so happy with their results and I’m so excited to have found her.
The office itself is immaculate and the girls are all very helpful, I never feel like I’m being sold to and so far every product that I’ve been recommended has worked amazingly.

I cannot say enough good words about my experience at Murad and specifically with Dr. Chiu. I have gone to just about every top name derm and plastic surgeon in Santa Monica and Beverly hills for botox and fillers in the past and went to Dr. Chiu on the recommendation of a friend who is in the industry. She is awesome, and after going to her for almost a year now, I will go no where else. Her results are very natural and she does a great job in recommending what will give you the best result, and not going overboard on trying to sell you things you don’t need. The staff is amazing and I have had an enjoyable experience every time I have been there (even when im getting poked!!). If you are looking for a great, honest, warm derm, Dr. Chiu is your girl! She also recommended this AWESOME night cream (Sleep Reform, I think) that helps you sleep at night and is good for your skin. It is amazing and I HIGHLY recommend you try it if you have trouble sleeping.

I had perfect skin in high school… so perfect strangers would approach me and compliment me. As a teenager! It was pretty cool. Once I got into college and lived away from home for the first time, the universe decided to get back at me and riddle me with acne and it hasn’t stopped. until I found the Murad Medical Group.
In 2009, I had gone to a swanky Beverly Hills dermatologist on the recc of an old coworker. While I liked them for the extractions, the acne was never relieved and never stopped. They had me in every 2 weeks, $ 40 co-pays, only using their doctor’s products. After I decided to cut ties, I’d probably spent $ 500 in 6 weeks for products that did nothing for me.
Then for my birthday, I got myself a facial at a local place to me, and they used Murad products. I love them for how they made my face feel and how they smelled. So I decided to look up the company, and there was a clinic local … WITH Dr. Murad practicing there. I made an immediate appointment. Meeting with Dr. Magovern was great. She’s super nice, easy to talk to and understand your frustrations. She prescribed me an oral and two topical meds that, after a few weeks, really have helped. I used to break out all the time, especially during THAT time, and with 2 – 5 huge pimples at once. Now, it’s barely one a month. BARELY. I stopped taking the oral meds, just because I forgot to, but even without, I don’t break out anymore.
Once my new ins w/my new company kicks in, I’ll go back for a follow up on the scarring and see what we can do to treat that. I’m a happy happy repeat client and won’t go anywhere else. Thanks Murad!

I went to Murad medical group because it seemed like a reputed dermatologist office near my work. I was having minor acne for the first time and thought it’ll be a good idea to check with a doctor and see if it is something in my lifestyle that might be causing this. I agree with other people’s reviews. It really does feel like an advertising campaign and not a doctor’s office. There is definitely a lot of pressure of buying products when all you want is to get doctor’s advice on a minor issue. After I got out, I was charged the usual $ 40 for copay. A week later I got a bill at home asking for another 70 bucks. I called the office to inquire and was told to leave a message with the exchange. A week after the message, when I still didnt hear from them, I called again. This time I spoke to a girl at the office who told me that she’ll look into it and call me right back. A week later, still no response. I called again and left another message. I stil haven’t heard from them.
I dont think I’ll want to go back to this office. I just dont have this much time to waste for a single doctor’s visit. My advice is find another dermatologist because with a brand name like this, it is hard to get a quick resonable medical advice.

I, too, went to Dr. Murad’s office and felt as if I was in the middle of an advertising campaign. I saw Dr. Murad himself the first time I was there and he wasn’t pushing the products too much. It was the staff that was pushing them. I went in with the complaint of acne at 27 (worse then when I was a teen) and walked out with almost $ 200 in products because I was told I NEEDED them. Not to say that the products aren’t good, but I felt high pressure while there. I also was told that my skin was incredibly sun-damaged and was scared into buying some sort of face peel thing to fix it. The second time was with a different female doctor (can’t remember her name) and she was good, but not worth going back to feel the consumerism stress. I’m trying out a new derm this week in MB and am hoping it will be better (though I heard that they, too, have a skincare line).

Given that THE Dr. Howard Murad practices here, I decided to have a couple suspicious moles examined here. At the first appt., he took samples of two to be biopsied. He determined that they needed to be removed at the root. So at the next appt., I received local anesthetic in the two sites, had them sliced open and dug out, and then stitched up. They healed horribly and left large, hideous scars on my hand and my stomach. Not only that, but at my first appt., a sales rep stood there in the room (so much for privacy and sensitivity) and thrust brochures about Botox, fillers, three-figure resurfacing procedures, etc., in my face as I talked to the doctor. Not exactly self-esteem boosting. She also kept prompting me to make an appt. with the dermatologist who does Botox and talked up the Murad skincare line (as did Dr. Murad).
Of course, they billed long after both appts. – a total of nearly $ 2,000. (Yes, three zeroes.) And for that price, one might reasonably expect superior work. Alas…

I drive by Murad everyday during my commute to work. My mother has been using their products for years, so I knew they would be reliable.
I’ve been having some skin inflammation problems for a little over a month now. Being the stubborn person I am, I refused to see a dermatologist, but couldn’t take it anymore. Luckily, they are covered by my insurance and it was time for me to finally make my appointment.
They were able to see me next day, which was awesome. I called around for other dermatologists (this was my first time ever going to a dermatologist), but their earliest day they could see me was a few weeks from the day I called. I was not about to wait 3 – 4 weeks.
I met with Dr. Magovern. She is very nice and makes you feel extremely comfortable. Very easy to talk to. She recommended a few products for me, provided some samples (actually, A LOT of samples), and sent me on my way.
The best part was she didn’t pressure me into buying any of their expensive products! She of course recommended some of their cleaners and moisturizers, but also recommended inexpensive but effective over the counter products. She even listed stores for me to go to in order to get the best prices!
So I had an extremely pleasant visit. So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well, I had to wait a bit to be seen. I came in early to fill out paper work, but still had to wait about 20 minutes past my appointment time. Not too bad, I know. It could’ve been worse, but still a factor.
Also, when I called the day before, a man who wasn’t authorized to make appointments picked up, took a message, and said I’d receive a phone call shortly. Hours passed and I still didn’t receive a phone call so I called again. This time, my appointment was taken. I recommend you call in again if you leave a message as you may never receive a call back.

My life is crap. I just turned 27 and I have more acne than I did at 15. What in the hell is that? Fortunately, I still have really good parking luck (i.e.spot closest to the door at the mall on Christmas Eve) so, I’ll take the acne, I guess. Wait, no I wont. That’s why I sent myself to Dr. Murad’s clinic this week to get my face fixed.
I can’t say I’m 100% cured just yet, but my experience was good. I’d never been to a Dermatologist before, so I kinda felt like a jerk showing up without skin cancer or moles that were taking over my body. Luckily, the good doctor understood my concerns, took the time to explain everything, and gave me some decisions on which medications to try out. Better yet, they didn’t try to sell me a single product. I chose Murad initially because I use their stuff already and I didn’t want to go somewhere that would tell me to buy new $ 38 soap. The whole thing was wrapped up with a complimentary enzyme treatment that the lovely Aesthetician slathered on me. The office is in the same building, but it’s different from the Murad Spa, since it’s an actual doctor’s office. Of course, Botox, medical grade facials, chemical peels, and all the other hoopla that bored people do are offered. So, check with your insurance, and take your bad skin here. That’s what I did.
