North Italia

I met a friend for happy hour around 7pm, and the restaurant was packed! We sat at the bar and only ordered a few dishes to share — truffle garlic bread, braised meatballs, grilled cauliflower and salted caramel budino. our server told us we ordered the best dishes on the menu and they were definitely were delicious. I would definitely come back for more!

Duly impressed. I’m all about qualification and categorization — like it’s the best Italian restaurant west of the 405 and north of Torrance. But, this my friends, is among the best of my Italian experiences anywhere, and certainly top 5. North Italia is located in The Point, in what used to be, Nothingsville, El Segundo.
Décor is lovely with high ceilings, open glass walls, wood, and large panels of art that really add, to what would be, a very large and plain wall. The centerpiece, a very nice bar area. It exudes good energy, and from the very front patio to the bar to the dining area, it’s all good.
The menu is somewhat small, and varies from traditional to modern Italian cuisine. Here’s what I got:
1. Chicken Pesto Pasta ($ 17, 4.5 stars) — totally delish. Gf couldn’t stop talking about it days later. Yes, very very good.
2. Short Rib Pizza ($ 15, 4.0 stars) — The «Daily Special». A little sparse with the short rib, but otherwise, great crust and worthy enough to try. I’d give it a B+ for effort.
3. Bombolini ($ 8, 5.0 stars) — A soft and fluffy italian donut with a lemon curd and vanilla mascarpone sauce. Amazing little devils, and I love them.

Wonderful service completed the entire dining experience, Arturo made it extra special. Arizona * California * Colorado * Kansas * Texas — only other location in California (thus far) is Irvine. Come and get it!

Incredibly delicious and our server was exceptional. She was knowledgeable and gave suggestions cheerfully. Can’t believe I waited so long to visit! I had zucca chips (so light, thin and crispy!!), chicken parmesean and the tiramisu. The server said she normally doesn’t like tiramisu (and I don’t either), but she recommended it, so upon her advice, I gave it a try… wonderful!

First time at North in El Segundo, but have been to the Scottsdale location many times. Always start with the Zucca chips, fabulous. Well, start with drinks and order the chips right away. Food is good: I had the short ribs this time, so tender; wife had her favorite Italian salad; and the Italian donuts! You have to have the Italian donuts! Service was quick and very friendly (they move fast). The room is good sized (bigger than Scottsdale) with indoor and patio seating, and an indoor/​outdoor bar. A little too noisy for me inside, but then I’m not hearing as well as I used to. We’ll be back!

It’s Father’s Day, I know, but we didn’t go there for that. It was my daughter’s 15^th birthday and the place was packed! And they could not find my reservation! Anyway, the guy seated us swiftly almost as if I actually did have one! It was our first time to be there and boy were we impressed!!’ From the service, down to the food — Just an explosion of hearty deliciousness in my mouth!!! Aaaahhhhh!!! Happy tummy, is all I can think of! We’re definitely coming back …

North Italia was amazing. Our waiter was on his A game. His recommendations were all great. He would even bring more hot water for my tea when he noticed I was low. I loved the grilled artichoke appetizer. The squid ink pasta was also very good. Save room for dessert the tiramisu, ice cream with espresso, and the donuts were all amazing!

I really like this place. It’s in a new complex that just sprung up in El Segundo. The only things I don’t like about it… parking is annoying. and it’s hard to get to if you’re coming from Sepulveda and going South.
This place is big and modern. a bit on the pricey end.
The food is high quality… I have come here twice and I’ve gotten the same thing twice:
— arrancini — risotto balls… the sauce is incredible and it doesn’t taste canned
— mussels — it’s pretty good sized… and the mussels don’t taste frozen but fresh

Walking in, I wanted to like this place, really, I did! The décor is cool. Very trendy and clean. There were two hostesses, and neither of them walked us to our table all the way in the back, which I thought was weird. They just pointed to an empty table in the back, saying a person from our party was already there.
If you sit inside, beware– it’s loud as hell. It’s hard to have a conversation with the people you’re sitting with. We were in the back so luckily it wasn’t tooooo bad, but I still had to ask my family to repeat what they were saying.
Service was also exceptionally slow. It seemed like there were a TON of workers walking around, but most of them were bussers or delivered food from the kitchen. Our waitress took a long time to get our drink orders, appetizer orders, and then we waited probably 15 minutes for her to take our dinner order.
Garlic bread– I asked for it without the truffle oil. When it came out, it was 4 pieces of grilled bread with a pile of grana padano cheese on top. The bread tasted like nothing. I was super disappointed.
Grilled artichoke– this was pretty good. It was 3 small artichokes, also with a heap of grana padano cheese on top. Light truffle oil
Bolognese– tagliatelle in meat sauce with, you guessed it, a heaping pile of grana padano cheese on top. At this point, I’m wondering why they feel the need to dump the same kind of cheese on top of everything. Is it to add flavor? To cover up flavorless food? I’m a cheese lover, but even all this grana padano was too much for me to handle. The meat sauce was a good, a little spicy. I’m gonna be honest– the «fresh» pasta tasted like boxed pasta though.
Chicken parm– Hubby ordered this and he HaTES truffle oil. On the menu, the chicken parm is listed as rigatoni in a grana padano cream sauce. Well guess what? The pasta had the same damn cheesy taste all the other food did, plus the chicken had truffle oil on it. Hubby didn’t touch it because he couldn’t handle the truffle oil. Even I thought it was overpowering. They really need to add that ingredient on the menu, they list it on everything else that had truffle oil so I’m not sure why they’d choose to leave it off of the chicken parm
Bombolini– these were just ok. Kinda dense and not fluffy.
Overall, I was left pretty underwhelmed by this place. It was crowded and I really couldn’t figure out why. It also took our waitress 20 minutes to see we wanted the check. She also dropped a knife on the table which broke the votive candle, leaving big and small shards of glass all over the table. She wasn’t really apologetic, and returned with a dish towel and proceeded to just spread the glass all over in an attempt to clean it up. When she was done and left, there was still glass on the table.
Pretty sure we won’t be coming back.
WHAT GIVES with all the damn cheese ??? (you can see it piled high on all the food in my pics)

The good — the interior space, the clear and simple menu, the pasta.
The bad — the salt, ohhhhh, the salt on everything. It was almost like everything was double salted by accident. I ended up taking home the bolognese sauce and adding more pasta at home, about half a pound, and it was still on the salty side. Maybe we were there on a bad day? The servers were friendly but only came by for the customary, «Are you good?» right after the first plate arrived. Nobody poured water, nobody else came by to see if we needed anything else.
I think this place does try in terms of daily made, but the salt makes me wonder if they are hiding the quality of ingredients. The cheese on the pizza and sauce were more like your fast food joint than a fancy place in El Segundo.

Helllooooo yet another beautiful space with beautiful waiters _​_​_​_​hehe jk kinda. But for real, this place almost feels like you stumbled inside something in an interior design magazine with hipster beautiful beachy people all dressed in pastel colors.
Food was very delicious. Our party of five ordered the bacon and egg pizza, truffle garlic bread, spaghetti and meatballs, seasonal vegetable salad and calamari, our favorite being the pizza. All the dishes were incredibly flavorful, fresh and indulging :3 (I think our waiter said they make everything from scratch, including the pasta.) Tied it all together with the lemon donuts and our bill came out to a little over a $ 100! Very reasonable considering the quality, ambience and friendly service.
Yay for a great time :) Will be back for sure!

Holy crap this place is good! I don’t know what they put into the food, but I’m ADDICTED now! By far, my favorite dish is the chicken parmesan. It’s not a dish I ever order (nor did I order it when we went), but when my dining partner offered to share a bit with me, I took one bite to be polite, and then pretty much dug in and kept eating it off her plate. The chicken is great, but the noodles that come on the side are the star of the show.
I ordered the pasta with chicken, spinach and mushrooms, which was also phenomenal. The pasta is homemade, and tasted different from any other pasta I’ve had before. For some reason, I got full pretty quickly (hmmm…I wonder why?) and wound up taking most of it home. It was possibly even better reheated the second day.
The only bummer was the wine list. Our server was awesome and let me try a bunch of different wines (all reds) and I eventually settled on one because I felt bad about being so picky, but I really didn’t like any of them. Such a beautiful meal really deserves to be accompanied by an amazing glass of wine.
Next time, i will definitely try a dessert, because we saw many passing by and they looked fantastic.

I had their Short Rib Radiatori (pasta dish) which was delicious! The pasta was good, but the part that really gave it the «wow» factor was the Short Rib. The dish featured parmesan cream, fresh horseradish, wilted arugula, herbed breadcrumb and short rib. So glad I went with the waitress’s recommendation. The service was great and the location was roomy. The seats were very comfortable and they were able to accommodate a party of seven. The meal was bit pricey, but I have paid a lot more for a lot less, so I was happy when I walked out. Would highly recommend this dish.

Genius!!!
I have to start backwards because these little fried gems were so good. Light and perfect with a sweet lemon gooey type sauce that was so addictive. You get four, but you really want the bakers dozen! Stay with three and have other stuff.
We walked in after securing a table earlier with Michelle who was so great. The whole staff was on point. The location is fun just to walk around and shop if you want to before or after. Kind of a small version of The Grove. Outside and cool. The interior is grown up and beautiful, very open and flowing. Great bathrooms btw!
Ok, I know… what about the food? Well, we had the pig pizza and it was solid and tons of pig products on top. Good crust as well and we split the bolognese which was fresh and delish. Rich meaty sauce, but the pasta itself was the star.
Wine list was really well thought out, something for every budget. And… well it’s wine so that’s always good.
Service was just what you want it to be, there when you need that next glass of wine! Parking was a snap. And free!
Just what we needed down here, a really good Italian restaurant. And we got it! Not cheap, but worth it for those donuts!!!

I had already had North Italia at their Irvine location so I knew I was gonna be in for a treat. This location is actually bigger slightly to me in terms of the outdoor seating area, the interior is about the same in size. Greeted instantly by an awesome host I was very pleased and excited to have lunch here. Then the server came out and she was a delight!
Items we picked up includes the Strozzapretti, the Chicken Parm, the Chicken Sandwich. The strozzapretti was very delicious. It had great flavors and the seasoning was wonderful. I only had a bite but it was pretty delicious in my books. The chicken was sandwich came with some really delicious potatoes. The sandwich itself was pretty good too. Nothing special but it did have excellent flavors. The chicken parm was my favorite even though I only had a bite of it. I knew instantly that I made the mistake of not ordering it. The chicken was so tender the knife just cut effortlessly through it. The seasoning was very good. The overall experience was amazing as per usually at North Italia.
I really like Italian food, but its tough finding a place that really delivers like North Italia. Everything is made fresh with fresh ingredients. The service is incredible and professional. Everyone is all smiles and joyful. They truly seem like they love their job. The bar area worked wonders for me too. I got a chance to watch my Duke game.
PS picked up an apple burbon punch from their cocktail menu and that too was delicious. I’m not a big drinker but I needed just a sip that day because Duke was stressing me out and the drink did wonders lol.

Met a friend for lunch on a weekday. Not sure if they take reservations, but met my friend here at the noon hour.
Parking?
Plenty. At least on the day I went (I would imagine very different at Xmas).
Stepped up and host was super friendly. My friend wanted to sit outside and he led us to a table in the corner. My friend asked for a bigger table and he accommodated. Cool. Its shaded and it was beautiful outside, but it was a bit breezy. Server was just as friendly as our host.
Drinks?
Grabbed a glass of Laguna Russian River Chardonnay.
Food?
Ordered an Italian Farm. Salami, Provolone, Pepperoncini, olive, campari tomato, red onion, cucumber, roasted pepper w/​italian dressing. Tasted Fresh & Light; Exactly what I was looking for.
Didn’t get to try more of the menu, but would definitely return.

North is probably the busiest restaurant in THE POINT!
Our party of 2 did not want to wait for 20 mins for a table, so we took the patio seating which was surprisingly nice.
Server was awesome, super attentive and caring!

Cheese & meat plate — the jamon was definitely above average, and i like how they put in a combination of sides (jam, nuts, asparagus, etc around it), i was disappointed in the collection of cheese they put on the plate — there was only two types of cheese and I would prefer a wider range of options even if it comes with smaller portions

Squid ink pasta — IT’S PRETTY SPICY! we loved it though — it’s a really special dish because most of the squid ink pasta would either come with ink sauce or white wine sauce — this one however, came in a tomato sauce, mildly spicy which would build up to pretty spicy. I would recommend this dish to try though!
Bolognese pasta — North managed to turn a common dish to really really yumsss, definitely go for this if you feel like having comfort food!
Good price, good atmosphere, great food!
Food alone for two turns out to be approximately $ 65

I had the Apple Bourbon Punch, the peach vodka drink (I’m forgetting the name) their Pizza special which was arugula and mozzarella and the short rib pasta. It was all very good!
I love how their bar wraps around to the outside. They have a large patio area with a ton of seating.
Reservations recommended! Great date night spot!

I ordered the proscuitto & fig pizza to-​go. It was ready in a quick 10 minutes.
The pizza was amazing! The crust was crispy, even when i had leftovers. All the toppings blended together well. The only thing is that it costed $ 17, which is a little steep for small pizza.
I would come back to try more items on their menu!

My friend and I second time here and no complaints. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming with outside seating and sky high heat lamps. The service is friendly and attentive. Our second time was brunch, we dine in having salmon ($ 23) on point tasty and the Americano breakfast plate ($ 15) good. To drink we had the sangria with no fresh fruit that was okey and a mimosa needed a little less orange juice. The restaurant also have three different menu brunch lunch and dinner with all with some same items but different prices?! Overall a nice new addition in city of El Segundo to dine causal with family and friends.
