St. Anthony School

St Anthony’s is an amazing school. My son has been attending the school since pre-​school with a brief transition to St. Catherine’s in Kinder and back to St. Anthony’s ever since. The teacher’s are patient, caring, and strive to engage their students. My son felt lost at St. Catherine’s with two classrooms for each grade and now feels part of a family atmosphere at St. Anthony’s. I personally have been able to volunteer during school hours to witness the teacher interactions with the children and am pleased by what I’ve seen.
Staff is helpful, and willing to go above and beyond what is required of them to assure the success of their students. A strong focus is placed on building achievers and confident young individuals to promote academic excellence.
Classroom sizes are the perfect ratio in teacher to student which allows a great deal of attention given to each student. Teachers are not overwhelmed by having to instruct lessons to almost 30 kids in some public school classrooms.
St. Anthony’s is truly a hidden gem in El Segundo and offers a wide variety of extra curricular activities that most public or even other private schools do not offer. (E.g Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Football.)
Children at St. Anthony’s grow up really knowing one another and build friendships and bonds that last a lifetime. They tend to excel in academics and often graduate to attend sought after high schools such as Loyola, Notre Dame Academy and St. John Bosco.
Mrs. Settle works in the main office and is always willing to jump at anything you ask of her. She juggles the necessities of the school with grace, efficiency and a smile. She is the first person to greet you as you enter the school and welcomes any question, concern or need you may have. Mrs. Kawjaree is the principal at St. Anthony’s. She is professional, responsible, and dedicated in providing a high quality education built on a foundation of great values and morals.
Because of a brief transition from St. Anthony’s to St. Catherine’s and back to St. Anthony’s, I was able to really see the difference in educational quality St. Anthony’s provides my son.
I am grateful for this diamond of a school and have nothing but great things to say.
I highly recommend this school to parents interested in enrolling their child in not only an excellent school but a community.

$$$$$ is all they look at… so sad. I Will be taking my kid out of this school next school year. Changes need to be made. I do not recommend this school. But the preschool is amazing! :)

This used to be a good school until June 2015. I was proud that my children went there and would always recommend it to people. Now I’m embarrassed, I’m counting down the days for the last day of school. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL!

The school had been a lovely small school run by a wonderful principal through June 2015 and under that principal’s oversight the school received WASC accreditation. The current school principal started July 2015.
All grades attend mass weekly. Since Aug-​2015 the school effectively appears to be run in accordance with a conservative sect of Catholicism. September 2015 at the first PTO meeting, the principal communicated that the parish priest eliminated all offices of PTO, e.g., no president, VP, treasurer, etc., and replaced those with fundraising coordinators. Per the principal, the objective of the PTO is to organize fundraisers and the PTO’s function does not pertain to school or curriculum concerns. Early September the principal circulated unmarked envelopes for parents to nominate persons for the parish priest to pick, early November decisions were communicated.
