I called this gym around 10AM trying to inquire about amenities and price of the gym. i was put on hold by some hispanic guy. 10 minutes later, i got the dial tone. i called back cuz maybe we were disconnected. but no answer after 2 attempts. called by 2 hours later, no answer. Maybe it was something i said. idk, maybe i was put on a block list for asking a question. idk, but i will NOT be joining this gym. BS Already? i dont have time for it. this gym must be RICH. They dont need MY money. ill be calling and giving my money to another establishment. Terrible first impression

I’ve been a member of Club Metro for about 7 months now and I’ve only strayed away from the Union location to the Elizabeth one ONCE during a snow storm that forced the Union location to shut down (I don’t screw around on leg day). The second time that happened, I paid the $ 10 fee to train at Retro Fitness.
The Elizabeth gym is significantly smaller and I just wasn’t feeling it especially after going to the Union Metro so regularly. They have some machines that the Union one doesn’t have and vice versa… but they’re all poor quality and break easily. No one re-​racks. The parking lot is non existent which is ridiculous. But the staff at the desk were really nice that one night when I went. The ONLY reason I would come back is because of the convenient ²⁴⁄₇ hrs.

Been here once for a day trial. I was seriously considering joining because it was close to the apartment. However, sauna wasn’t really working very well and they didn’t have a pool either. :-/

This place is awesome for me because I live CLOSE to it… all the negative comments about the parking seem ridiculous to me… they allow you to park literally across the street at the Trinitas center which is always empty (at most 3 – 4 cars)… So all these people complaining about CROSSING THE STREET lol Should DEFINITELY work out because it’s not that serious… if you can’t take a walk a couple feet away, then I don’t know what you are doing at the gym to begin with… the Zumba classes are really good! I’ve used the treadmill a couple of times, but there seems to ALWAYS be one or two available when I’ve gone. maybe I’m lucky… the managers make you FEEL welcomed and they are always generous with their time… HOWEVER, I cannot and will not give this location five stars, due to the lack of professionalism the front desk possesses. They are terrible. they Treat you as if you are there for free, and not like you are ACTUALLY paying for their services. HONEY, I AM PAYING TO BE HERE !!! lol .my suggestion would always be to talk to a manager, oh and not a SUPERVISOR! Because he’s terrible, as well… young and unexperienced. I don’t think he’s ever worked with customer service to be honest lol. But other than that, the gym is magnificent… they even have a bigger new sauna for us ladies… the showers are always clean, and so are the bathrooms… there’s tons of classes worth trying out… I don’t know much about the daycare, becuase I don’t have kids lol. But yeah I’ve bent here for over a year and not planning to cancel anytime soon!!!

I wish I had never signed up at this place!
The reason I signed up… It was after hurricane Sandy and my current gym was being renovated because it had alot of electrical damage.
So I said hey lemme go check out this place
relatively cheap… good equipment but i was concerned about parking and sales manager (who’s no longer there)… said they have more parking lots in the area
Since then it has gone downhill.
No parking… dirty locker room. shower is not even accessible.
staff couldnt work the sauna one day…
the staff is nasty… doesnt speak english and Does not want to help
Tanning booth is hardly ever cleaned even after i asked about it EEK!
Then i tried cancelling and its impossible.
Hope others come here prior to signing up

This place sucks!!! Please, allow me to list all the things wrong with this gym:
1. Rude and inattentive employees (I used the tanning machine all the time, so after several experiences of having to wait 10 min in there without the timer on the machine being set, I would tell the employees in advance to set the timer for me before opening the door to the tanning room. Nine times out of ten they’d look at me like I had 2 heads or something, and one of the employees actually told me once that «she wasn’t allowed to set the timer in advance». Oh and speaking of tanning…)
2. There’s only one tanning room in the entire facility, so if you’re there during rush hour… Good luck waiting half an hour to get your tan on
3. Rush hour, which is anytime after 5pm. Hooray
4. Tiniest parking lot ever, which is shared with the laundromat next door
5. Muscleheads harassing me trying to «help me out» while I workout. Err no, ain’t got time for that
6. Small facility with little equipment. Don’t even bother coming here during rush hour
Seriously, never enroll in this gym unless you plan on signing your deathbed. Oh and ONLY a 12 month contract, you say? HA HA… Good luck with that

The facility is one of a couple in Elizabeth so there isn’t a lot of choice for locals. During off hours, at a time when the gym’s capacity is not tested, it is a fine place for a workout with weights or cardio equipment. There are no early classes so the place is pretty empty and they are open 24hrs during the weekdays. I do not take classes so I can’t comment on that. It is at peak times beginning at 7am and 5pm when you really can tell that this is the only show in town. Parking is awful. Finding an open treadmill is a challenge. The worst for me, who goes after work and must change clothes, is that the small number of lockers in the locker room which are often completely full with a line of women waiting. There are no changing areas so you must change in the toilet stall or shower stall. The Club Metro in Union has a much bigger locker room with at least twice the amount of lockers so that location is a better bet. Or if you work out early (5−6am) or later (9−10pm), then these capacity issues aren’t a problem. For me, I prefer a gym that I can go to at anytime my schedule allows me to fit a work out in so, after two years, I had to say goodbye.

This is has grown very popular since it started. It’s one of the closest gyms for Elizabeth residence so it is very convenient. There are quite a few places that offer discounts on their membership. One that I know of is the Tropicana Diner & Restaurant which is also in Morris Ave. They offer discounts on their website:
. Currently listed on their page is a 25% discount on the membership. I also remember signing up on the Club Metro website itself and I received an email stating if I signed up soon, I’d get a month free added to my membership which is always a plus.
As for the review of the gym itself, et me start off with the Cons…
Cons:
1) The gym itself now seems relatively small since during «rush hour» there is a LARGE amount of people inside the gym that keeps the front desk busy and all the machines in use.
4) With the numerous amount of members during the evening hours, it is then more obvious that parking will be a hassle. It is VERY difficult to find a parking space right away. The parking lot is very small and it is shared with another business. It’s one of the «ughhh» moments when arriving to the gym.
2) As a regular member, one thing I HATE observing is how out of the 20 or so treadmills they have, there is at LEAST 5 that are always broken. With all the profits this gym makes, I’m very disappointed that it is not maintained on a regular basis.
3) Also the smoothies in my opinion are NOT worth the $ 5. They are nothing special and I would rather say that it’s worth buying a protein powder yourself and making your own natural healthy shakes at home.
Pros:
1) It’s open 7 days a week, MON-​FRI from 5:00AM — 11:00PM and
SAT-​SUN from 7:00AM — 7:00PM. These are convenient hours.
2) In the Diamond Membership, you are entitled to free tanning, a sauna, and free classes that the gym offers (of course this is subject to change).
3) There is a small day care center located inside the gym for parents with children.
4) Although the weight room is filled with men, which could be intimidating for girls, they don’t seem like creeps. Everyone there is genuinely nice (in my experience here so far).
Overall I gave it a 3 because I like the members there, the location and hours are great, but the service provided and the parking situation are just a big slap in the face.

Ok so first off this is a good gym small but good. Since I’ve joined they already done to expansions one they are working on now. They have a treadmill theater room. All new equipment great friendly staff and it’s always clean. They good music to workout to if you didn’t bring your own personal iPod. Price is cheap at least when I joined. They also have a juice bar to get your protein shakes waters and fresh fruit. They have a parking lot but it’s also small but have access to other lots. Hours are good from 5 to 11 so u can always work out treadmill and all cardio machine have iPod connections to hook up your own music or movies. so 3 stars because in all the months I’ve been going here they have yet to get a decline bench which is badly needed other then that gym is over all good
