I was running 15 minutes late to picking up my take-out order(thank you GPS). By the time I got there, they threw my order out. As I was already running late, I wasn’t able to wait to for them to remake my lunch. So not only did I waste time getting there, I also had to return back to work without lunch. I understand that sushi needs to be served fresh, but if they asked for my name and number with my order, why wouldn’t they just call me and double check to see if I am coming? I didn’t know that if you don’t pick up your food within 15 minutes of the agreed time they automatically toss your food. That’s horrible service.

It’s an ‘economy’ Korean operation with drink refills for an additional $ 0.50 and credit card accepted only for bills larger than $ 10. The sushi rice was really cold and really blue. Being cold is OK, it just indicates they made sushi in advance — not a sign of a première joint, but understandable for price and staffing levels. Being blue is not OK for rice — it is weird and Halloweeny, I’ve never seen anything like this before. The big review killer, however, was a dirty restroom. There are competing establishments within driving distance even in the same economy price range.

Stopped in here for the first time today. This restaurant is Korean owned, which is not unusual these days. Very pleasant greeting from the counter when I arrived. I ordered a #1 Lunch Special, which came with spicy(you can get mild) ramen noodle soup(which had extra stuff in it, not just a $ 1 version from college like the other guy earlier stated) which had egg, fish cakes, and veggies. The meal also came with a few pieces of tempura(including one deep fried piece of california roll), 2 fried gyoza(dumplings) and 4 pieces of california roll. For $ 8.99 this is a good hearty lunch. You want fancy? Go into the city. You’ll pay 2X the price. I added on a cucumber salad, which is marinated with onions in vinegar, sugar, and salt– a traditional Korean style pickle. This was tasty and accompanied my meal well. All in all, I was in and out of there in less than 35 minutes. Wait time was less than 7 minutes for my food. I’m perfectly fine with this place, and certainly will be back as this is a meal with variety for less than $ 10. I can’t ask for more in this market.

I don’t think they know what sushi is supposed to taste(or look) like! Also tried the sad, sad Udon noodles. The one star is because they are nice.

I stopped in for the first time today(Monday) for lunch. I got a pre-packaged rainbow roll and Philly roll, which the gentlemen told me were just packaged and put out. The Philly roll was tasteless and bland; tasted like water. Not even the cream cheese inside was good. When I opened the the rainbow roll package, I was hit with a fairly strong fishy smell which can be a sign of old fish. The salmon seemed extra slimy. I didn’t have time to run back to exchange it, so I took a chance and ate most of it because I was hungry and spent a good amount of money, but I did throw out a couple pieces, something I never do because I love sushi and it’s somewhat expensive. Luckily I didn’t get sick.

Affordable. Good price for sushi. Not so flavorful but not so plain either.

Solid sushi. Ramen soup is very good however charging me $ 7 for ramen I can buy for a dollar is crazy. Chicken teriyaki is very good and portions are very filling.

I stopped in for lunch today and was very pleased. They had a Volcano Roll on special which the lady behind the counter suggested so I got that and a seaweed salad and a can of green tea from the cooler. The roll was fresh made for me, only took 5 minutes and it was nicely spiced and tasted very fresh. The seaweed salad was also great, well flavored with good crunch. They had some nice looking pre-made rolls in a cooler and a good selection of items on their regular menu along with a few specials on the board. Not too many hot items, they seem to be mostly a sushi joint and the sushi was done very well for a lunch place. Fancy fine dining sushi it is not, this is a little lunch gem on the edge of light industrial Elk Grove Village. Non-chain, non-fast food? Yes please! I’ll be back!

I went here during lunch time, the menu looks good and the food is good as well. It is a real good place for lunch because the menus are cheap and they already have a lot of sushi to go. The only down side is that I had to wait around like 15 – 20 mins for my food to be ready. Next time I order from that place, I am going to make sure to call and place the order first before I go in.

When my wife wants sushi, this is where she wants it from. We are practically surrounded by sushi joints yet this is the only place she wants sushi from. Their spicy shrimp rolls, their shrimp tempura rolls and the california rolls are among her favorites. Now I’m not a sushi guy myself. I don’t mind Japanese food in general but I never really got into the sushi thing. With that in mind I do love their veggie tempura and their ramen is spicy and very decently priced in their lunch special menu. Overall the rating is based on how my wife feels about the place. I think it’s alright but it’s her love for Sushi Today that gives it 4 stars.

Plus: the fried rice is really, really good. Minus: the sushi is really, really mediocre. Bonus: my African-American co-worker trying sushi for the first(and last) time. Brothas apparently don’t much care for eel.
