Happy Garden Restaurant

It’s delicious. The serving sizes are huge!!! They will accommodate and set up for a large group just give them a call in advance. They have a fun ‘nightclub’ on Friday nights. They are super nice and very patient with even the largest groups, our group numbers 25 and they took individual orders. Or together. Whatever we asked. And mostly important, it’s delicious!!!

Wow what a great meal and excellent service!!!

Restaurant section: I love this spot cuz the customer service is A1 and the food is real good. I don’t see why they only get some mediocre reviews and not enough 5-​star ratings.
Bar section: The bar looks real good and there’s plenty of space. From the owner Andy, to the bartender Feng, the barback, the DJ spinning on fridays/​saturdays and the security dude Dean, everybody is chill here at the bar. U can actually talk to any of them and they’re so down-​to-​earth. I can see why the regular customers here love it and are so loyal to the bar.
The prices for food and drinks here are very reasonable too.
Ive been there at least 5x now and I’m never disappointed in their service. So for all that, imma give ‘em 5 stars. They definitely deserve it.

This is my go-​to place whenever I catch a cold. An order of their house wonton soup does the trick and I’m back on my feet in no time.

Poor customer service. They got our order wrong twice and was still trying to charge us for all the plates they brought out. The «manager» tried to give me an excuse that the chef will get mad if he gives an exception on the bill. He had no choice as some of their food items does not detail what it comes with. I recommend going to Tea Garden or Bamboo Inn on Laguna Blvd. Better service, same food.

My husband I and I went for happy hour. Well… they didn’t really have a Happy Hour it was just chicken wings. But this place was amazing the bartender was great and she was very personable. She was welcoming and made our first time here very pleasant. We will be going again soon. She also makes menudo on Sundays and pasole. She also does other specials. I just adored her. It was a great friday night out with my fabulous husband.

Went last Friday. Took my girlfriend’s family to have lunch. Ordered the family lunch. Chicken ChowMein, Egg Rolls, Sweet and Sour Pork, Broccoli and Beef, Fried rice and a side order of pork and vegetables. Food is always good. I have never had problems with the service.

The shrimp with lobster sauce and the chicken broccoli lunches specials were just okay. Nothing to write home about.
I think my friend and I were the only Asians in the restaurant so that should tell you something. Go to a Chinese restaurant where there a lot of Chinese patrons.

Well they must have new ownership. Every item on the menu has gone up, some by as much as two dollars and the quality of food had gone down. I noticed a difference from the moment that I walked in to pick up my phoned in order. The food was ready in the usual fast fifteen minutes, but there was a different feel to the restaurant, enough to make me grab a menu to see if prices had changed. The house fried rice, my favorite item under the prior ownership, is bland and the rest of our food followed suit. Well time to find a new place to go to, it’s a shame because they have been really good for so long Happy Garden.

Truth be told, Happy Garden is one of Elk Grove’s best… wait! Elite Chinese restaurants. We’ve attempted to venture out in the Sacramento area and without fail find ourselves right back here. The service, my god the food! the clientele and music are just some of which make Happy Garden THE BEST of Elk Grove. This place is a must visit and experience!

I’ve tried several different dishes and have enjoyed all of them, good portions, and very reasonably priced. Located in charming Old Elk Grove, it’s a dish not to be missed!

Food was decent. We had a young server and he seemed a bit frazzled all night. I have been there before the new owner and it was good but now with a new owner for some reason food taste diff and portions smaller. Beer was good.

Came here to eat with my boyfriend for the first time and there was a nasty clipped fingernail on his plate when he opened up his cloth napkin. That alone just turned me off on this place. I will agree the workers are on their phones a lot which is probably why the service is lacking. Food wasn’t even that good to me. I would rather drive further to Peony Palace, Rose Palace or Sunflower for my Chinese food.

Nearly 40 minutes to make a, lunch combo plate? Hmm not to mention the initial employee when I walked in barely acknowledged me. the second employee who saw me lingering was very nice. i probably won’t be back the portions were extremely small and my sweet and sour was nothing but peppers.

For a town starved for legit cuisine, Happy Garden is a solid Chinese food staple and a must have in this small little city.
I can remember when they were located out in Wilton and going there as a child. Now, as an adult, when I’m dreaming about Chinese food while I’m in EG this is the place I go!

The food is not worth the bad, slow service!!!
I went in a few days ago with a party of 9. There was one couple eating and us. We waited for them to get a table ready for a long time. We got water then were forgotten for a long time. My son had to get up and disturb the manager who was leaning over the counter with the server on Facebook to get straws. We finally got our order taken and the soup came out super quick, however the server served it and went back to using his cell phone. No one cleaned our table after the soup and by the time we were served our main courses they were cold, and the table was full of dirty plates. Never did we get a refill on the drinks that we got because the waiter was busy on his phone. We chucked it as oh well, however when we got the bill and we were charged 18.73 for gratitude, I about flipped. Initially I asked the waiter if he knew he was already getting a hefty tip why he didn’t provide proper service and all the guy said was sorry you feel that way. I told him we were the only customers in the restaurant and we still didn’t get good service, and I asked him to speak to the manager as I wanted to complain about their cell phone use and my food being cold due to it and he stated that the manager was the one using the cellphone with him.
I have been to this place plenty of times with a smaller group and the food is good however I am truly shocked that they feel entitled to charge the tip if the service is not up to par.

Two stars is only because our server was nice. Food was horrible. We called seafood soup and hot-​and-​sour soup but both were extremely salty. Other dishes were just meh. I will not come back until they fix their food.
P.S: I really dont understand how this place get 4 solid stars overall. I really don’t.

I love this place. Food is delicious. Service is great. They aren’t stingy with their food either. Okay prices, but I suggest coming during their lunch specials which begin at 11:30am and end at 3pm. Inside is very nice as well. It’s also a bar.

Best customer service and food in old town Elk Grove! BBQ oysters on Wednesday is the bomb. Garlic chicken wings are amazing. Apple tiny is my fav drink. Black bean chow fun with beef Shrimp dishes. Orange chicken is also great.
