History

Established in 1974.

We are open for business Seven Days Per Week, including mornings hours on all holiday days.

Richard & Shen Smith opened Bokhara Pet Resort & Grooming Spa in 1973 in rural Williamsburg, Michigan when they were raising and showing Borzoi (Russian Wolfhounds), Shen then went on to become a licensed American Kennel Club dog show judge judging large specialty shows and also in Sweden and Australia.

Bokhara is located on 14 beautiful Elk Lake acres of land with 300′ of Elk Lake frontage, 8 acres of woods, and 6 acres of lawns. There is a 7 acre fenced lawn area where pets can roam free during Play Times or Garden Strolls. Summertime means swimming time for our pet guests.

We are a family owned business, not part of any chain of dog facilities. We have three generations of family working in the business.
