Royall’s is not per se a classic soda shop.
To do that you need a vintage soda head. (but I will settle for a bar gun with soda water)
This allows you to sell phosphates, and ice cream sodas.
Royall’s is a classic small town dinner.
Good food served simply. It’s nice but should not be held to the standard of the «Ritz».
My wife and I both had «Royall’s famous hot dogs». These are a standard dog with cole slaw, chili, mustard, and onions.
It came with pop and chips (and two dogs)
We both enjoyed them very much.

This was a very disappointing lunch experience. The service was slow. Our order was taken and then we were told that they were out of BBQ. Changed the order and then it took close to 30 minutes to get 3 burgers, 1 hot dog and a grilled cheese sandwich. No apologies were made. Do not recommend.

I feel a little bit bad even giving this place a one star but there’s no option to give zero stars. I’m a big fan of hometown food. We stopped there the other day and everything from the lack of available menu items to the service was atrocious. The food was overpriced, undercooked and undersized. Unless you have not eaten in days and happen to crawl into here for water and bread, I would not recommend ever going here. They also were installing a video game next to our table during our meal. That just added to the absolute horrible experience we had. To top it off, when I went to pay for the meal, the cashier could not read the waitresses handwriting so she had to go get someone else to read it to me. Needless to say I did not tip them. they did not deserve it

My wife use to live near Elkin, so once we started dating, she introduced my to Royall Drug. I haven’t been in a few years, so I went in today and grabbed a hot dog to go. It’s still a very good hot dog. Good chili and slaw, and on a toasted bun. Solid choice.

Real down home soda shop. Reminds me of my teenage years in Savannah. Great chili dogs and hamburgers. Had some spectacular homemade peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

The ladies working here are wonderful. The ambience is down home. And the food is delicious. The free Wi-​Fi is an added bonus.
