My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and we love it. The food is always delicious and the customer service is always great. We went for lunch yesterday and were greeted with smiles and delicious chips and salsa. Our server(I believe his name is Chris) was so attentive and asked frequently if we were comfortable and if we needed anything. There was a mistake with our order(just the wrong side was brought) and Chris quickly corrected the error. He brought out the correct side free of charge, let us keep the delicious mistake side and even gave us some yummy sauce to go with the side they originally brought out. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into this restaurant and their food. Give them a shot and you won’t be disappointed. I always feel welcome when I arrive and satisfied when I leave.

Sweet bartender/waitress on a Sunday evening. Huge fresh delicious guacamole. Chips must be made here because there are thin and fresh. Quest pupusas are light with great gooey cheese. Variety of Mexican beers. Family friendly; I heard children in the restaurant area. This is not a cookie cutter Tex mex and it is not a dive. It’s casual. Clean. Quiet, with a music channel on the tv in the background; sounded like a Cumbia rhythm. Touchtunes if you want to choose your own songs. Has a family-owned vibe. Low prices. Delicious food.

This is the best place for REAL Mexican food. Chris is easily the best bartender/waiter/manager that I have come across, always positive and friendly. The food is just way too good and the price is great, I can afford to feed my family without sacrificing other activities. I love this place and I come often, sometimes just for drinks, sometimes for food and sometimes for both. 5 stars all the way.

Agree with the positive comments regarding Chris the friendly bartender. The single soft tacos are a highlight –delicious, fresh, sized right and priced well. Loved the chorizo but underwhelmed by the pollo. Nice selection of Mexican draft and bottled beers including Pacifico, Sol, etc. You don’t go to a place like this for the ambience… but it’s better looking than most dives. Check it out!

Okay — I think I’ve been to Pollo Feliz enough times and in varying situations to be able to write a review. My wife and I have even tried the breakfast. Overall — very nice — from the first time we walked in there and was first greeted by Chris — the bartender. It’s always been friendly. I’m not sure why a reviewer said that it’s not family friendly — we have brought our kids there several times and even had extras at times. I don’t care to discuss the atmosphere and frankly — if that’s what you are into when judging Latin places — good — go to those places and pay for the nachos and salsa. I go for the food — and there does not seem to be anything else close on Route 40. Food, prices and service — what else could you want?

Nice little place; ½ bar and ½ dining room. Made me homesick for one of my favorite places in Puerto Vallarta. Soccer was on the televisions and most of the conversations I heard were in Spanish. There was even a salsa(?) dance lesson going on while I was there. Service was friendly, quick, and efficient. I had the ceviche; big portion, tasty, and filling. I also ordered a side of guacamole. It was the best guacamole I’ve had in a long time. The salsa that came with the chips had a nice smoky flavor; not too spicy. There is beer on tap but, interestingly, the only Mexican beer on tap was Corona Light. I have to go back to try more dishes. The menu has a nice variety and the prices are reasonable. I’m looking for more good experiences here.

They seemed to have turned a corner for the better in the new year. All taps have been flowing, wait staff has been great, and the food has always been amazing for the price. If you haven’t gone, go, get some tacos or a half chicken.

This place is excellent. My mother and I decided to stop by for lunch. We both got two tacos. I got lengua(tongue) and carne asada mixed with chorizo. My mother got tripe and head and we both agreed they were delicious. We are both from Mexico and can say that they truly do compare to the authenticity of Mexican tacos. I will be coming back and making this spot my local lunch spot when I am in the area.

This place is absolutely amazing. Quiet little spot, but busy so you can tell they do a lot of business. Food is tremendous, got papusas, tacos, fish tacos, and some drinks. Prices are very good and the overall experience leaves you wanting to walk right back in as you’re leaving. Chris is a fantastic guy to have as what feels like the face of the business, super nice guy, great to chat with and great customer service. There are three other known Mexican spots in Ellicott city and this blows them out of the water. Simply no comparison. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Omggggg! Finally a great and authentic Mexican spot in Bmore. I’m a pretty particular eater, spoilt by the offerings of my native land, NYC. [Humble brag about my oh-so-sophisti-ma-cated palate: P] So I was searching for some tacos darnit, preferably those that were just like my taco trucks or holes in the wall of JHeights or Sunset Park back home. I even tried DC food truck tacos. Meh, good enough but not so authentic. But here. Yahz! Went w the beau who prefers it more American style but they were cool about tailoring the food to our specific taste buds. We were seated immediately by Chris, who is also the bartender. He was awesome and had a Cali surfer dude vibe, even tho he’s a native Marylander. I ordered Al Pastor and Chorizo tacos. Yum! I’m used to Al Pastor w small pineapple chunks but it was still good without it. The chorizo is prepped outside of its casing [think ground beef but sausage], which is much appreciated since some places prepare it with the casing [blasphemous!]. Beau ordered nachos w the fixings minus some things, etc. I don’t remember how he defiled it, but he thought it was good and that’s all that matters. 4 stars for food and a bonus for awesome and friendly service by Chris. Don’t ever change, Pollo Feliz!

3.75 stars but I’ll round up to 4 because they’re local. Better than the other 50 dime-a-dozen Mexican restaurants in the area, but it doesn’t touch R&R Taqueria. While it does have seating. It doesn’t quite have that«straight from Mexico City» flavor, but the menu is inspired and loaded with interesting options. The papuasas were really good. Fish tacos pretty good. Fried tacos were ok. I’ll go back to sample the al pastor and the tortas.

When this restaurant first opened, I got take out which was just ok. Came back to dine in & same experience. Homemade chips are really good. Same with guacamole. I ordered ‘fried tacos with chicken’ and they were alright. Service wasn’t that great either. Probably won’t be back.

Awesome Mexican food and prices! They have great guacamole. The flautas are one of my favorites. I tried the Cubana Torta tonight and it is pretty darn awesome.

I felt like I was in a bar in Mexico! The juke box had tradional music, the bar stocked with beer, and tacos pouring out ofvtge kitchen. The bar tender was quick and helpful when ordering. The combination quasadia was freaking fantastic. The shrip tacos were sadly very boring and nothing I would order again. The margarita was tasty but the queso was flavorless. Think outside the box here qnd try new things here most likely they won’t disappoint you!

Excellent tacos and horchata! This is the only place I have been able to find horchata!!! The waitress was very polite, helpful and super sweet. We had fish and shrimp taco platters(3 tacos each, rice and beans) @ under $ 12. We also ordered the barbacoe taco(lamb) special for $ 3. Food took about 10−15min from ordering to arrival. The tacos are served on double mini corn tortillas just like you would get in Mexico, Central American etc. Tasted just as good and fresh. The fish was salted and pan fried, flaky and not fishy. The shrimps were small but abundant and lightly pan fried. The lamb was ok, a little on dry side but tasty. The tacos comes with onions and cilantro. You can get without onions but you can scrape them off easily. Not drenched in sauces or anything pretty or creative artsy stuff. Just kept simple. There is the standard 3 part sauces: red chili, cilantro-lime-chili, and chopped jalapeños mix. We were not given any chips/salsa. The jukebox was playing Latin music. The ambiance is that of a bar, square wooden tables & chairs separated by a wall from the bar area. There is a private parking lot right off Rt 40 near the car dealerships. The bathrooms are singular sets for male and female, and clean. Overall, I will be making this my go-to for tacos and horchata and maybe try out the other items on the menu. IMO, best tacos for price in the HoCo area so far(I’ve tried El Hidalgo, R&R tacqueria, & any taco places I happen to drive by along rt 1). The only other place that had impressive tacos was Johnny Sanchez in the Horseshoe casino but that comes at a helfy $ 18 – 20 price tag and forced upgraded attire for all the added fluff. Here, you can go in and it’s super laid back and casual. It is dine in and carry out. Full bar. I would recommend if you love tacos made the Mexican way :)

After reading all the rave reviews, I tried this place with great expectations. Before I could even get to the food, the bartender poured me this margarita that tasted like koolaid. I could barely taste the alcohol. Had a corona and then I left. Wanted to try the food but if a Mexican spot can’t pour a good margarita, it kinda makes me a little sketchy about trying your food. Meh!

Definitely a great restaurant with delicious Mexican and Peruvian food and great service. Just visited during happy hour this week and they have great daily specials on food and drinks. $ 3 Margaritas, $ 2.50 Tacos and $ 3.00 Imported Specialty Beers! Ask for Chris who is top notch in his customer service! You never have to ask for anything! I definitely will be returning again.

I invited my wife and a couple friends here for an after-work dinner in an attempt to find a new place to eat without an Asian theme to it. Since my wife is a vegetarian and from the West Coast(both at the same time, yikes) we choose Mexican as a pretty safe bet. I really liked the food. The chorizo tacos were crispy and not dripping with grease, the hen tamale was positively silky in my mouth and perfectly savory, and the cheese pupusa… its hot cheese and bread, how could I not love it? They also had a fabulous guacamole and freshly made tortilla chips, mmm. However, as much as I loved the food, I can only in good conscious give them three stars. We had a waitress who was painfully new and not very good with English, which created a double whammy of issues. Being a waitress is hard, especially when dealing with a table speaking a language you struggle with, and I understand that completely and sympathize. With that in mind, there are some things that are a matter of proper training that language doesn’t play into: ~Make sure your table has napkins and silverware ~Don’t slam food on the table ~If someone orders an appetizer, make sure it actually comes to the table ~Have at least a working knowledge of your menu. If someone points to an item, and the item is written in your first language, but you spend 5 minutes staring at the item in confusion, there’s a problem. ~If a table wants to split a check at the end of a meal, and you take the time to carefully write down what items go on what check, it should not take you a half hour and three attempts(with assistance from another staff member) to get it done. (Note I didn’t say that we pointed out things that were wrong. There were still mistakes on the final bill but one of my friends was so frustrated that she paid the extra money just so we could leave.) The question of whether we didn’t receive good service because we weren’t regulars came up on the way home, and I did(and still do) disagree entirely with that. I can tell when someone still has their training wheels on, and despite her many mistakes she was friendly and obviously trying. Other staff came to help her bring our entrees, stopped her when she brought me the wrong pupusa, and stopped by often to check on us and bring refills. The manager was especially kind: when my wife discovered that the enchiladas she ordered were spicier than her stomach could take that night, he was kind enough to allow her to exchange them for two corn tamales(which are heavenly, btw. I kinda want some right now as I type) and didn’t charge extra. And there was another waitress bustling around with three other tables who had an aura of experience that couldn’t be faked; when our food came and she spotted no napkins or silverware on the table she immediately rushed to get us some without our having to ask. Bottom line: Order carryout here and I’m sure you’ll be very pleased.

This is a cute little place. The seating is nothing fancy, but the décor is interesting. The service was very good — the two employees I spoke with were very friendly. My tacos came out pretty quickly. The free salsa was very thin and spicy, a nice treat… And the chips that came with it were nice and crispy. Overall a good experience and I’d go back more often if it wasn’t so far away.
