Elmhurst KinderCare

Love the staff there. They take excellent care of my son and we’ll have our daughter enrolled there soon as well. They do a great job with teaching my son the basic ABC, 123’s, etc. For a few dollars more, they have a phonics class and a #‘s (addition/​subtraction) each week. My son went for testing at the local elementary school (kindergarten) and he was above the other kids coming in, which is great to know.
My son has developed some very strong friends there and its good that he can interact with his peers, but also know how to adapt to different personalities. The great thing is that they have a no-​tolerance policy for kids acting out, but they have positive encouragement for kids. Our only wish is that there was more kids attending the elementary school that my son will attend. That way, he’d transition with the same kids…
The only item (if you can call it that) is the parking there can be a challenge when busy coming in off of North Ave. Its great that Ms. Lisa (Director) and staff have tried to do everything they can to accomodate the parents by expanding the lot and trying to find other parking options, but I’m sure there comes a point they can’t do anything. Too bad the homeowners of Glenview Ave (adjacent street with cul-​de-​sac), didn’t support local parents and businesses like other Elmhurst parents (who live near parks and the elementary schools) where we understood how parking/​traffic is near these locations when we moved there.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE KINDERCARE! and even better… our daughter does too.
My daughter attends their K-​12 kindergarten program and loves it. We take advantage Kindercare before and after school care, which is included in the price of tuition along with breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. We drop her off a little before 9am school start and let her stay an hour after 3pm school end time, and sometimes she cries because she doesn’t want to go home! We’re glad she enjoys the environment, we enjoy the education she’s receiving.
Lisa (director) and her staff are so great. We receive emails all the time communicating anything and everything, including reminders– which as we know, parents often need a little reminder here and there. Any time I’ve emailed or called, my husband or I have received a quick response. Everyone is happy and smiling and that speaks volumes to me because a «happy to be here» staff means management is taking care of them.
Miss Maureen is an amazing teacher. She teaches the K-​12 program which is standard at all Kindercare and District 205 (Elmhurst) schools. The children are very respectful and attentive to her. They not only learn there foundation classes of phonics, reading, math, etc but also do art, science, history and more. This is a full day program and many children who attend local district 205 schools in the morning are bused in for the afternoon to «complete» their full day of education.
This week the school just administered TERRAnova testing. «The most respected, valid, and innovative national achievement test on the market» Call them or google it for more information. I’m pretty excited to see the results of my daughter’s education at Kindercare. FYI: a permission slip was signed before she was allowed to take it.
In the future, all of my children will attend Kindercare’s program. It’s too amazing to not do it and too important to not give your child this much of a head start.
Some people may think Kindercare is pricey, but honestly they are on par with their competitors like Elmhurst Academy and other area schools. It’s not religious based and since we are a secular home, that was important to us. You get what you pay for: constant communication, extreme safety and security, child engagement and productivity, extended care before and after school hours (7am-​7pm, I believe– call to be sure), character and independence building, physical activities and so much more. I recommend a tour.
and another quick note on the extended care, it’s not like they let the kids play and have an adult in the room watching them. They give them routine activities. After school from 3 – 4 is free-​play where they can work on whatever they like in the kindergarten classroom stations. then an assistant comes in and the go through education videos on the smart board (whoa that smart board is awesome! I’m jealous), and the remaining child that haven’t been picked up by 5:30ish moved to the all ages room to continue playing aka learning and being engaged. These kids are having so much fun they don’t even realize how much their brains are growing! I LOVE IT!
AND WE LOVE KINDERCARE!

First off, the staff is outstanding. Lisa and Stacey who run the show are always communicative and supremely helpful. Our Daughter is enrolled in the Kindergarten program as we could not get her into Kindergarten in the Elmhurst Public schools as she is past the age cut off.
I am so impressed with Ms. Maureen’s program and her interaction with the kids. They are taught all of the major classes: Math, Science, English, History, Art, Phys Ed. and they make use of a smart board within the classroom. (
) Its a full day program, however I believe they have a half day as well. This allows lesson plans to evolve out of the classroom in real time. Teachers and students can interact with each other and with learning in a way that is new, fresh and current.
Our Daughter has LOVED the experience so much so that my wife and I have discussed sending out 8 month old to kindergarten here as long as Ms Maureen and her program are still there in 4 years.
They also offer early drop off and late pick up along with 3 meals a day. If you need Child care in the Elmhurst area, please investigate Kinder Care. I don’t have experience with the other age groups, however if they are even a fraction of this program then they rock.
The ONLY downside to this is cost. (Hence 4 stars instead of 5) It is be expensive. Again, I cannot speak from the other programs however the kindergarten is a drain.
