Mario’s Painting and Decorating

I used Mario again to stain a large pergola. Once again they did an excellent job. I highly recommend Mario and his crew.

Marios Painting and decorating did an excellent job. They even worked over Memorial Day weekend. They were finished on time (which was a must) for me, cleaned up and were on their way. Very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend them!

Mario and his team did a great job painting our deck this summer. I had called several Elmhurst/​Villa Park painters to try and get a quote but many of them were completely unresponsive. One company scheduled a bid and never showed up at our house! Mario is the opposite of unresponsive. He is über-​responsive. He would pick up the phone when I called and made sure to address any issues or requests that I had. I had a great experience with him and we will definitely be using him for other projects in the future.

Mario of Mario’s Painting and Decorating is the consummate professional. I called him after a referral from a friend to get some odds and ends done in my apartment/​roof deck and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received.
The first and best thing about Mario is his professionalism on every level. He’s extremely friendly and (even more importantly) extremely easy to get a hold of. During the month or so from my initial call to him, till the moment all the work was done I must have called him over 20 times. I’d estimate that roughly 16 of those times he answered, 3 of them he called back within an hour or two and once first thing the next day (and THAT time I called him on a Sunday). Heck, the first time I called him was at 5pm on EASTER SUNDAY and he answered cheerfully and willing to talk. I cannot overemphasize how important ease of connectivity is when having work done on your house OR how refreshing Mario’s professionalism is (I went through the estimate process with a few other contractors before Mario and abandoned plans with all of them because I simply couldn’t trust their commitment to the job).
Another facet of his professionalism that led to my satisfaction with Mario’s work was his dedication to getting the job right. During the entire process, Mario seemed to care about getting everything right as much as me. When staining my deck, his guys noticed some rotted boards and some that were leaking sap. He replaced them at cost. When in the middle of mounting some speakers for me, his carpenter thought of a better way to do it. He immediately called me talked about how they could do it better, why it would be better, and said that he’d again only charge me the material cost difference (a claim that panned out when I settled the final bill).
The above example highlights another great trait Mario possesses and practices. He is an extremely knowledgeable craftsman, especially on the subject of painting, tile, marble and granite. When I told him about all the things I wanted done he gave me suggestions and solutions but wasn’t afraid to defer to more expert advice if something was even a bit outside his wheelhouse. I personally find the ability to admit you «don’t know» to be an extremely important quality and would much rather he call one of his many expert contacts than attempt to do a job he’s not 100% comfortable with, just to save a few bucks for himself.
All in all, I trusted Mario, by extension Mario’s Painting and Decorating, and his network of workers to complete my job efficiently, effectively and within my financial restraints. I’m not as prolific a Unilocaler as I’d like to be, I pretty much only write a review when I’m extremely unhappy or extremely pleased with a specific service provider. Mario’s Painting and Decorating is definitely the latter.
