My Favorite Toy Store

I popped into this toy store when I arrived a bit early to a near-​by bar. I was meeting some friends for trivia night and was early and didn’t feel like nursing a beer by myself. I was surprised to find this toy store open at 8:15. I was just going to look around and kill some time. It’s got the kind of toys that I like to give… you know, the ones that are «multiple outcome» like blocks and art supplies. I was done with my Christmas shopping, but I ended up buying two Golden books for my two nieces (ages 2 and 5). I talked to the owner for a while and he was very friendly. I feel good about buying from a local toy store. I don’t live close, but when I’m in that part of town, I’ll be sure to pop in again.

I was disappointed. Read high reviews but totally not what I expected. Limited unique selections for 1-​year-​old boy. Most toys are for older kids, age 4 or 5.
Their toys may be unique but they’re overwhelmingly similar to Toys R’Us in their style. I was looking for plain wooden toys or simplicity. They didn’t have. Their toys were too sparkly or too colorful with too many different patterns on it. I was looking for a push-​cart. They didn’t have. I was looking for Rollipop starter set. They didn’t have. Instead, they had Roll n’Swirl Ball Ramp. I decided to just get this and over with. 20 bucks not wisely spent.
A plus for free gift wrap.

They don’t ship or mail certificates.
Friends of ours moved to Elmhurst and I thought it would be fun for them to try their new local toy store with a gift certificate. Too bad the store can’t help us and mail a gift certificate to a new Elmhurst family.

My Favorite Toy Store is the perfect size toy store! It’s so easy to become overwhelmed in the larger chain toy stores. My Favorite Toy Store may be smaller but the quality of toys is top notch. What I love about this store is that it’s all about the Toys, not the big brand names or hot new commercial characters. The toys they carry here do what toys are supposed to do – encourage imaginative play.
I can’t even begin to list all the fun products that they carry – some things I’ve haven’t seen anyplace else. I could even see myself buying some items for my friends and not just the many little kids in my life. So.Much.Fun.Stuff! Educational toys, artistic and craft toys and outdoor toys.
Service is super friendly and ready to assist. They offer free gift-​wrapping and a preferred customer program that never expires. A wonderful store in downtown Elmhurst and definitely one of my favorites.

This toy store is great!
I make a point to support locally owned independent businesses before shopping in big box stores so I headed over to My Favorite Toy Store to pick out some presents for my nieces and nephew (5,3, 6 months). They greeted me upon entry and in less than 2 minutes came over and asked if I needed any help. They offered to give me suggestions but I was more than happy to look around. I wanted to take in all of the toys. My oldest niece is your typical girly girl in love with princesses, tinkerbell, and ballet. They had some really unique items that would be awesome for her if I wanted my sister to kill me (manicure/​pedicure sets, make your own purse, create your own lip gloss, etc).
Most of the items in the store were things I had not seen in other places. This is what sold me on the store. I am cool fun childless aunt so I better be able to bring the goods. My Favorite Toy Store looks like it is going to be able to help me keep bringing the goods throughout the toy ages. Added bonus? They wrap for free so the kids will no longer be getting gift bag presents :)
TIP: If you aren’t familiar with downtown Elmhurst, map directions out of there. York becomes one way north of the tracks and is confusing as all get out to get out of there.

When you really think about… it is very cool to have a first class toy store in Elmhurst.
As there is only one true toy store in Elmhurst… I guess this really is My Favorite Toy Store.
I do not frequent MFTS but the grand kids are in town so this is a must stop.
What brought us in this time was the generosity of MFTS.
The summer reading program at the Elmhurst Library awards prizes to the kiddies when they reach various levels.
One of the levels is a free toy at MFTS.

One thing I like about this store is the newer type toys/​recently invented toys.

MFTS is an excellent and super fun store! Love the high quality toys that you don’t find at your local mega-​mart! MFTS is my go-​to store for baby gifts, birthday gifts, holidays, or everyday games.
The enthusiastic staff is fun, knowledgeable, and super friendly. I find something new and cool each visit. MFTS also offers a free loyalty program. This truly is my favorite toy store.

Over the years we in Elmhurst had a number of choices to shop for toys for our children. Some amazing stores! I enjoyed doing my Christmas shopping locally. It was wonderful. Then all of a sudden we didn’t have any stores to shop for toys. When My Favorite Toy Store came to Elmhurst I was overjoyed! It is a great store that offers a huge selection of high quality merchandise. The customer service is excellent, they are kid friendly (imagine that) and they offer free gift wrapping! I hope they are here for years to come.

Fantastic independent toy store, and just another great place to shop in downtown Elmhurst. I’ve been through the place a lot, looking for toy ideas for the little kids in my life. They stock so many great products you can’t find anywhere else — in fact, I heard a staff member say that if they start to see the toys there elsewhere, they will stop carrying them.
Service is great, the staff’s always helpful and ready to answer any questions you might have. Prices are fair. And you can’t beat the location.

absolutely the best. helpful staff who is eager to assist. love to support local business as opposed to a big chain. and the thomas the train set-​up in the back to keep kids occupied is brilliant. wonderful!

This is a cute little toy store in the heart of downtown Elmhurst. They have a BUNCH of cute stuff for boys and girls of all ages. And plenty of educational toys and games… which I LOVE! I bought a couple of little things for Milo and definitely see myself going back here in the near future to see what else I am going to get for him! =]

I really thought this store was super neato! lol (for the kiddies). They have some unique items that you wouldn’t find at your local toys-​r-​us. My favorite part is that they had a lot of learning games and toys. I’m not one to buy mindless toys for children. I bought a number book, an alphabet card game and a sandwich maker set for a 4 year old. My friend bought her precious little man a little hi bye book that will surely stimulate his senses. The staff was real friendly. I bought 3 items and to my surprise they had FREE gift wrapping. Woo hoo!

This place is brilliant. It’s a large independent toy store in an underrated, old-​fashioned downtown area. Fantastic selection, good service, and free gift-​wrapping.
They also have a 2^nd store in Downers Grove.

Cool store with a nice variety of toys, games and crafts for newborns on up. It’s devoted to toys that are safe, well-​made and promote imagination and hands-​on learning. Few, if any, need batteries.
No Dora or Disney stuff — the toys here aren’t a brand extension; they are made by companies dedicated to making toys. I saw a lot of items that had won awards for quality/​creativity (Oppenheimer Best Toy, for instance). A number were from European countries. Lots of wood; not so much plastic.
My husband found this store and wound up buying our daughter a pirate puzzle. I’d never heard of the German manufacturer, Ravensburger, but it’s a superior puzzle. Made by handmade cutting tools ensuring no 2 pieces are alike, unbreakable pieces made from recycled board, grained paper that makes the picture glare-​free. For God’s sake, it even comes with a guarantee. Eat that, Milton Bradley.
I had to visit this place myself and was charmed. Puppets, musical instruments, bath toys, science kits, educational games, dress-​up costumes, dollhouses, arts/​crafts, books… spent nearly a half hour walking around to take it all in. Found a dozen things I wanted to buy my girl but settled on a My First Painting Kit by Alex Toys. It’s awesome: the paintbrushes’ wood-​tipped handles can stand on end by themselves, the paint cups come with a lid to prevent spillage.
If you join their reward program, for every $ 100 you spend, you get $ 10 merchandise credit. Oh, and they will gift wrap anything you buy for free.
