Patacon Pisao

This Venezuelan place is pretty cramped with about 4 small tables and is more of a lunch or takeout place. Food was really good though. We tried a few things off the menu:
–Cachapa — These are similar to arepas, but made of sweet corn. You can choose from cheeses and meats for the filing. This was my favorite thing here. It is very savory and sweet.
–Patacon — This is a signature item of this place. It is a sandwich with pieces of tostones instead of bread. Vegetarian and meat fillings are available. I thought this was just okay because tostones are too dry for me to act as bread.
–Chicha — Way different than the Peruvian chicha morada. Instead, this one is a creamy sweet rice drink with a dash of cinnammon on top. Very delicious and definitely worth a try.
This place also serves arepas and rice platters, which I have had at other places, so I passed on those. Venezuelan food is very similar to Colombian food, so if you like that you will definitely enjoy this place.

These were flavorful but slightly too dry. I know green plantains are naturally dry but these patacons would lend themselves well to some sort of sauce. Other than that, very tasty and filling! Will be back for 2nds.

The food is flavorful and awesome. You must try this place ! I ordered a steak patacon and a cubano patacon with a side order of yuca frita. Everything was good but my favorite was the steak because of the sauce.
It is small so I’d recommend calling for take out. They take debit cards.

I never had a platian Sandwhich before bit after I ate this amazing piece of plantian I wanna go back everyday. I got chicken and pulled pork they both was amazing and tasty the flavor was different from what I’m used to but pleasant. They have a free cheese stick when u check it which is nice. I got the passion fruit drink which was sweet and good also the empanadas was a lil small but packed with flavor it’s was overall great place gotta go

I love their food. Have yet to order a dish I didn’t like. Patacon, cachapas and pastelitos. All yummy. And they don’t skimp on the servings.
Try it once and you’ll keep going back for more.

My food was very good and flavorful but because they refused to put the heat on I have to take away two stars because i wasn’t able to enjoy my food because I was too busy catching hypothermia.

We were the only ones in the place. It took 40 minutes for our food to get ready. The food wasn’t that good also. We got patacon pisao and the one with pulled pork. It was too old and hard to chew on. Not what I expected from the reviews.

I could eat here everyday! The Tequeños are my favorite. I always get the passion fruit juice with my meal.
They have great empanadas, the patacons are very filling and made fresh. Super affordable prices. Small place not a lot of tables but I’ve never really seen it crowded.
It’s right off the R train near queens center mall and they deliver.

Patacon Pisao is one of my favorite establishments. My experience with this Venezuelan cuisine is usually at the lower east side location. The Queens location is small with a few tables so take-​out is more comfortable. Your orders are freshly made so I recommend ordering over the phone for pickup if you dont want to wait. I ordered the cachapa de pabellon and a grilled reina pepia. While the food was delicious, I couldn’t help but compare the Queens and Manhattan locations.
Overall the Manhattan location serves more saucy/​meaty sandwiches.
Reina pepia — better at this location. There’s much more filling and well spread on the sandwich. Highly recommend for avocado lovers.
Cachapa de pabellon — my favorite sandwich at Patacon. It was good but not as good as the Manhattan location. There was less filling, less saucy and less cheese.
If you check in on Unilocal,you get a free tequeno (cheese stick). I’m glad it’s free because I don’t think I would order it. It wasn’t as cheesy as I thought it was! I love cheese so I was expecting a lot. I guess I would give it another shot but will eat it on the spot when it’s still warm.
You fill up on your own side sauces near the door. I would definitely keep ordering sandwiches here because it’s convenient in Queens.

I came here on a lunch break the other day with 3 other coworkers and we all said everything was awesome. We each got something different. Someone got a patacon, another got arepas, and the last got a cachapa. I got the mix tacucho with grilled steak and chorizo. I can’t even explain how good it was. The green sauce is a good addition to compliment the savory flavors of the wrap. I also got a small passion fruit juice and it was delicious. You could taste the actual fruit, so you know it wasn’t anything processed and full of sugar.
I highly recommend giving this quaint little place a try if/​when you’re in the neighborhood! And don’t forget your free taqueño when you check in on Unilocal

Came by at 9 pm and it looks like the restaurant was about to close but anyway i ordered the chicken patacon. The total came out as 7.62 $ and i check in for a free tequeno and the girl register told me i can only get it if I stay here to eat instead of to go. Okay? Anyway, the patacon was so good. It was the perfect amount of chicken, tomato & lettuce. But I wish they cut them in half before they wrapped up for me. But yeah the sauce was a bomb but I wish they put in more sauce since I felt like it wasn’t fully all over the patacon when I was eating so I felt like some part was bland. But overall, it was a delicious patacon! I would come back again!

I really like this place. I’ve never had Venezuelan food before coming here, so it was awesome to try something new. The first time I came, I was with my parents who never tried Venezuelan food before. Being blatantly Asian and asking for recommendations, I definitely could feel the workers wondering if I accidentally walked into the wrong place. They recommended the patacon, which shares the same name as the restaurant. We ended up getting a patacon, a cachapa, and an arepa. The servers even cut each of the items in three as if they knew we all just wanted to try a little bit of everything.
The cubano patacon was so good. It is very savory, and the outer plantain pancake layer adds such a great texture that differentiates it from a typical cubano. The cachapa was also great. My memory of it focuses mainly on the sweet corn layer. You could actually taste notes of sweetness complementing the savory components of the sandwich. The food is so unique that you don’t realize that you’re essentially eating a sandwich with just different variations of replacements for the bread layer.
The second time I came here, my friend and I got patacons. (Also, the prices increased sometime between the two visits) But what I really liked about this visit was the ambience. They have two outdoor seats, which we were lucky enough to claim. The weather was amazing, and the two hours just flew by as we enjoyed our patacons.
I wanted to give this place five stars. I really did. But something about the thickness and the taste of the sauce on the shredded chicken arepa was so overwhelming that I actually felt like throwing up a little. My mom and I couldn’t finish it, but that doesn’t speak for all the other great selections on the menu. It was definitely just us not knowing what to order.
So definitely go and try out the patacons and the cachapas. They were SO good. Remember to check in for the free tequeno!
Pro-​tips:
1) Eat with your hands. It just makes everything taste better.
2) Ask for the pink sauce. That stuff is like crack.

I had the patacon with chicken and cheese arepa. I also had the cheese empanadas and a tequeño. Every thing was fresh and tasty.
The place is small, can fit about 16 people. It’s cool and clean inside.
Staff is friendly.
Great Venezuelan cuisine, I highly recommend it.

The Patacon w/​Pernil (roasted pork) that I ordered was drenched in sauce. To some this might be a good thing, but I like to taste my meat… yes I just said that. But really, there was so much sauce it was hard for me to taste any seasoning they used on the pork. The plantain was a bit dry, but since this was my first time ever eating a patacon, I’m not sure what a good one actually tastes like.
Because I’ve only tried this place once, I’m willing to give it another shot and will keep ya’ll updated on my second experience here. As of now, 3 out of 5!

Review on Delivery.
Evelyn from the front register answered my call 3 times. Placed my order today 8:05pm then 8:38pm contacted again to confirm that my order has already left for delivery. I have been waiting for a hour and recalled at 9:05pm. Evelyn said that he will be another 10 minutes! I explained to Evelyn if the normal for her company on delivery is 1 hour and 10 minutes. She says no, so I then repeated to ask what is the average expected wait time. She had no real answer for me. This place has great small meals and better to dine in or pick up! Delivery is not recommended at all! For the first time extremely disappointed with this spot. My food finally arrived 9:12pm and its COLD! Great job! And I was given the wrong total cost via phone vs. delivery)

The food here is so good. I’ve tried other Venezuelan joints around the area and this one is the best.
It’s very cozy, the service is OK, nice and friendly.
We ordered patacón paisa which is a fried plantain sandwich filled with grilled chicken, chorizo, avocado and sunny side egg. It was very good.
We also had a cachapa con queso, which is a sort of crêpe made of corn and filled with a white cheese, it was delicious.
We ordered two tequeños, similar to cheese sticks, jumbo sized, one of them filled with sweet plantain and cheese, the other just cheese, very good.
For drinks we had Papelón con limón, a brown sugar cane lemonade. It was very very sweet, you could add a small cup of water and share it.
The music is nice Latin music, not too loud… I definitely recommend this place if its your first time trying out venezuelan food.

Ok ok how many of you have eaten at a Venezuelan restaurant? Well being from NYC I’ve had my share of it along with Ecuadorean and Colombian. This food diversity is very missed as Las Vegas has a very limited selection of South American food joints. Ellen F. actually was trolling reviews from fellow yeeps and found this place. A quick R train 4 stops and a short walk later we were there, Patacon Pisao!
The restaurant is almost like a food booth with a few tables and chairs, very small and quaint. There is no bathroom so if you gotta go check out the supermarket across the street, just don’t say anyone told about it! The menu is very limited but it’s ok because you don’t come here for anything else but a Patacon. Don’t forget to check in to get a free Tequeno, pretty much a South America mozzarella stick with different type of cheese, have it with hot sauce please.
Now as a few of you maybe be wondering, what in the f&$k is a Patacon!!! Well to put simply it is your choice of beef, chicken or pork sandwiched into pounded out fried plantains with lettuce. And yes it is huge enough to use the word sandwiched, this thing was massive! I could have share this rather then get my own. You have a choice of hot sauce, green sauce or what we know as the McD special sauce (mixture of ketchup and mayo). I chose a combo of the hot sauce and special sauce.
This Patacon was quite awesome! I recommend it to anyone happen to be wandering around the Elmhurst, Queens area or if your just a few subway stops away. I was quite stuffed and satisfied. It’s not a huge place so don’t expect to large of a group or a toilet and sink, that doesn’t take away from the experience as in NYC it is quite common due to the size of the eatery. If you haven’t tried or seen a Patacon it’s worth the experimentation. BTW pernil is pork in Spanish.

Why oh why can’t we have restaurants like this in Las Vegas??? So Cesar Q and I were recently visiting NYC more specifically Queens. While looking for some not so typical food I run across this place on Unilocal.What an awesome find! Venezuelan food? Heck yeah!
This place was a short walk up a tiny hill from the train. Let me tell you it was certainly worth the extra steps! We walked in and were greeted by the friendly lady at the register. She pointed out that the patacon is what they are famous for so of course this is what we order! They do offer a corn meal type sandwich, a crêpe style sandwich and a burrito style wrap. The Patacon is your choice of any meat or meats sandwiched between to smashed plantains that have been fried to a crisp. They are served with lettuce and your choice of cheese or avocado at an added cost. We opted for the pork and it was incredible! You can add their homemade hot sauce that was really tasty and they offer a mayo/​catchup sauce to add as well.
This restaurant is rather tiny. They offer 6 indoor tables seating 2 each. 4 bar stools looking out to the street. One table outside. And a TV playing Latin hits.
Such a great find!

My favorite thing to get here is the chicken patacon! Fried plantains sandwich with lettuce, tomato, shredded chicken, and special sauce. Might get a little messy, so ask for a knife and fork. I can never get tired of this place! They also have the Columbian apple soda :)
Going to try the cachapas with fresh mozzarella next time!

Sehr lecker, man wird satt und für New York sind es super Preise. Falls wir New York nochmal besuchen kommen wir bestimmt wieder! Very nice and good food.

Lo mejor de este lugar son definitivamente las cachapas. Las arepas las sirven con tomate y lechuga? lo cual no es venezolano, asegurense de decir que no las quieren asi. Los rellenos de las arepas son muy buenos pero la tortilla propiamente no es mi favorita.
