Petco

We have taken our cavachon to several «high end» groomers in our area and we always are disappointed when we pick her up and she looks like a poodle (no offense to any poodles out there)! At petco they consistently listen to our requests not to cut her tail or ears and to cut her coat to the length we want. The only reason we have tried out other locations was when we were not able to get her an appointment here. And typically they can get her in for a cut on a day’s notice.

Today my Maltese got a ton of burrs stuck on his fur. For an hour I tried to get them off his body and his face using a comb and scissors. The majority of the burrs were stuck on his snout, ears, and around his mouth and he was just not having it anymore. Our normal groomer was busy so we gave Petco a try but I was nervous because we’ve never taken him anywhere else. We had Eden and she did a fantastic job getting all the burrs out and it only took about 15 – 20 minutes. I will bring my dog back to see her for a proper grooming and will report back, but I’m sure she will do an excellent job.
Also they had a bin of stuffed toys on sale 2 for $ 5 when usually at target they are around $ 4 – 5 each! My dog and I left very happy!

Called first thing this morning looking for an unusually wide pressure mounted gate. The young man who answered the phone, Matt, was soooo helpful. He gave me the specs over the phone, put it at the cash register for me, and when I arrived and paid, he carried it to my car. AWESOME SERVICE! Thank you, Matt, you made my day!

A very friendly and caring staff. They were always there to help out me and my two chihuahuas whenever we needed it.

I’ve been going here for years. Everyone is super friendly. It’s the only store in the area that sells my dogs food brand. I also bring my fur children to get their nails clipped here. And my one dog is not always the nicest, but she gets along great with the employees here.

This particular Petco seems to be a step above most of the others I’ve visited. Ever since the Evil Puppies™ entered my life, I’ve been shopping here for toys, leashes, treats and other assorted things.
The variety of items they carry is very good, and the friendliness of the staff is stellar. Prices are a little heftier than I can find online, but to actually have the items in front of you instead of waiting around a week is always a bonus.
Once I had the anti-​shed bath treatment done on the girls, and they were very thorough and gentle with them. They came out looking fluffed and polished and smelling of doggie perfume. The young lady who took care of them obviously had a love for animals and it showed in her work and her treatment of our little bundles of evil.
Pixel and Fedora definitely approve.

Clean and neat, great variety of fish and reptiles, many accessories in stock too. Sabrina gave me great care and feeding advice for our new baby leopard gecko, she was a wealth of reptile information and made sure all of our questions were answered before we left. I will be going back to this petco!

This is a smaller «big box» store. The store is relatively clean and organized. The staff is polite.
I prefer to shop at the Downer’s Grove PetSmart. PetSmart is larger, has a better selection, and lower prices. The staff is generally friendlier, as well. Some of the items I wanted at PetCo were out of stock, whereas this has not been an issue at PetSmart. I do appreciate the low-​cost vaccines offered at PetCo, however.
Overall, I only go to this location when I need something quickly based on its proximity to my home.

I am a fan of this location. It’s very close to where I live, in a outdoor shopping mall with Kmart and Dominicks. The store is very clean with a wide variety of treats, foods, and accessories for any pet you may have! I do find it a little hard to find someone to help you thought (other than the cashiers) if you have any questions. They also have a good selection of clothing for dogs … yes I am one of THOSE people. This is my one stop shop for pet supplies!

This Petco is much cleaner than some other locations. One thing that stands out is their fish section — the tanks are very clean which is good to see. I was disappointed to see many dead/​dying Bettas, however.

Great PetCo location! Way better than the PetCo in Wood Dale that I used to go to. The layout at this store is really shopper-​friendly. You can find what you’re looking for fairly quickly. I like that they divide up their toys and beds in relation to what kind of dog you have and their activity level. For example, they have beds for older dogs, snugglers, dogs that sleep on their side, etc. It makes it easier for you to narrow down what kind of bed you should get. Same thing with the toys. They have toys that are good for chewers, toys that promote teeth cleaning, training, address boredom, and again, some for snugglers. Now I don’t have to waste time in the store trying to guess what my dogs might like.
We did buy a pretty expensive toy that claims to be durable, but my dog tore it apart in five minutes. This isn’t PetCo’s fault since they just sell the product. I have contacted the toy company to see what they can do for me. But I did talk to a cashier who said they might be able to refund us if we call the next day and ask to speak to a manager. We bought a new toy in the meantime that has been working great for our big chewer so that’s a relief. I’m glad to finally have given this PetCo a shot. It’s much closer to PetsMart and is really clean!

Petco, where the pets go! Once upon a time I had one sweet boxer dog and she loved to shop at Petco… like literally pick out a new toy and sample the treats. Well, since she got 2 little dog brothers (yes, i have 3 dogs… yikes!), she really doesn’t get to go shopping much anymore since it would be a huge headache to take 3 dogs to Petco.
Stopped in to buy Natural Balance dog food, which was on sale… woo hoo! At the checkout, Pam remembered my boxer dog even though she hasn’t been there in a couple of years! Amazing! I love a store that stocks our special dog food and remembers me and my dog. 5 stars for great customer service.
I like shopping here. It’s a tidy store, products are organized and there is a huge selection of everything. Lots of toys on sale too!
**TIP– Luv My Pet vaccinations comes to this Petco every few weeks for super low cost vaccinations. You do have to wait in line for a good 45min with your dog or cat which can be a hassle, but the doctors are nice and it’s great to pay a fraction of the price for vaccinations. Dogs can get their DuPage or Cook county rabies shot + tag here too.

If you are going to go to a chain store looking for goodies for your loyal pal (s) this is a great place to check out. I’m a small business owner fan, but the store is always stocked up with all I need so whatevs… it happens.
The have coupons, sales, and a points system that gives you $ back, and almost anything you are looking for.
I like anyplace I can bring my dog so this works for me.
Petco in Elmhurst is always clean, plenty of food choices, toy choices, bedding… its a treat for my little Ziggy anytime we come here. She sniffs to her hearts content! The customer service is good, it’s either high-​school or college kids, or management and they have always been helpful.
We have been a 5+ customer of this store and I’ve never had a bad experience. I think they just revamped it up a notch lately too. Nice.

We make a trip here once every month or so. We don’t bring our dog because she is Crazy!!! I think their stuff can be pretty expensive, but our dog just has expensive taste! We have taken our shepherd to the groomer twice to get her nails done — he did a fabulous, fast job! She now lets me do her own nails, so we haven’t been back just because of that reason. They have a good variety of toys and food, and the staff is friendly. I’m a fan!

This store gave me the absolute worst service ever.
I went in there on a Saturday night at 8pm to buy some fish. It took literally, 20 minutes to get some service. I bought 5 neon tetra fish and a rainbow shark and was on my way. By the time I got home (a 10 minute drive), two of the neone tetra fish were already dead. But whatever, fish die.
Sooo, the very next morning, I went to return the two dead fish. I got to Petco as soon as the store opened, at 10am. I got service right away this time, but the girl had the worst attitude ever.
This girl demanded a water sample from my tank, EVEN THOUGH, I never even put these two fish in my tank to begin with since they were dead before I even got the chance to put them in my tank. She was very rude and acted like she was doing me a favor by replacing the two fish. I was actually going to buy more fish, but I didn’t want to deal with this horrible employee anymore.
And the worst thing is, is that the two replacement fish died too! Don’t buy fish from here! Better yet, don’t come here at all. You’re better off going to a mom & pop shop where they actually take care of their animals, and the service is 100% better.

Went in here to pick up a gift for a friend with new pooch.
Average big box store. Lots of products, quick checkout, but mind numbing place to go if you don’t have pets!

We have had our 3 Newf’s groomed here several times with no incidence. The groomer we had Tammy who was no longer there on our last groom. So we accepted another groomer. Not soo great results! We a limping dog the last time our group up. Our youngest one we picked up had qa noticable limip. Once we got home it was progressivly pronounced. Took her to the vet the next day to Dr. Valyo she said to rest her for several day’s plus Rymiidal which we did. Soo said tooo sayUnfoutky being washedu our Baby girl after several weeks of resting had to have Knee Cruciate repair surgery. OOuch $ 2300.00 to fix. Large dogs NO small dogs O.K.

5 stars for the man who cleaned up Herbies 4 accidents in the store. I know after the first I should have taken him outside but he wanted to shop, hes just like his mamma.
Herbie is usually very well behaved and hasnt pee peed in a house or store until this tragic
started off with him jumping out of car in the parking lot, tearing off his collar and running for the petco door. He loves this place, I told him he could pick out a toy he was pumped! So pumped that he peed 4 times within maybe 5 mins. I ignored the last accident, paid and ran for the door the dog caused me enough embarrassment I had to get out!
So thanks for the doggie clean up and sorry for Herbie loving your store so much he lost control of his lil bladder. oooppps

This review is only for the Pet Services portion of this Petco. There is a really awesome dude who takes care of my mutt’s nails every time she’s in need. He’s a pro clipper. He’s quick and gentle. My little Cooper actually gets excited to see him. He’s so great with the dogs. He turns my wild-​child pup into a calm and cooperative one.
Nice job… guy who I just can’t ever remember your name. I’ll get it next time. For now, I’m going with Russ.
