This restaurant is CLOSED! I was very disappointed, because they had my favorite dish but when we pulled up, the restaurant was closed. We called the number, and the new owners have kept the same phone number, but it will be a new restaurant.

I give this place 3 stars because my love/hate relationship usually depends on whether I’m ordering in or having it delivered. I’ll start with dining in. I tend to visit on weekend afternoons for breakfast or brunch and there is usually a bit of a wait at the front counter. This place is usually pretty full around this time so the wait varies from 5 – 15 minutes. Here, I’ve never had major issues with service such as rude servers or overcharging. But I can’t say there has ever been a time when the service was exceptional. The service tends to be lagging and it takes a while to get them to come check up on you, but the servers are usually pretty busy so I don’t complain. I love the Latin American inspired menu and I try something new every time. I’ve had everything from pastelone(Spanish lasagna) to the Cajun Chicken Pasta and a Greek salad. The food is always good no matter what. The desserts are also amazing. The Oreo cheesecake is a MUST! So what’s my gripe with the place? Delivery sucks! In the years I’ve been in the area, I’ve only ordered delivery a handful of times and they’ve managed to screw it up every time. To sum it up, the food has ALWAYS taken over an hour to arrive and I literally live a few blocks away. I actually have to call them to follow up on the order and 2x, the person that picked up was surprised as if they thought the food had been delivered to me long ago. The last time, the girl literally told me(after me waiting 45 min) that the order literally just went into their system somehow so they didn’t even make the food yet. It was after 10:30pm by this time so they rushed to send me food(another 40 min) and they were the most soggy, disgusting, borderline undercooked wings I’ve ever had in my life. I wish I could say the food sucked that time because they were rushing but the quality of the food delivered is always terrible for me. It’s soggy and cold as if the delivery person literally made runs for hours before deciding to just drop my now freezing food off before he headed back… All in all, I hope this place works on its operations management. The food is good but delivery and restaurant efficiency can use some work.

This place has gone downhill. The wait staff is rather indifferent. The girl that takes the orders over the phone is downright rude and messes up the orders each time. They take forever to deliver and the food is cold. Going there isn’t that much better. They are too focused on the décor of the place instead of the service and quality of the food. The food is ok at best and they just do not care about their customers. It’s just plain obvious.

I’ve been coming here for the past 12 years, after my most recent visit I unfortunately have to say that it has lost it’s luster. No longer is the place full and bustling, and it;s for good reason. First off, where is the«hello and welcome» that I have grown so accustomed to? I know it’s just a diner but c’mon. The penne ala vodka was awesome as usual, no complaints, the chicken scampi was too too salty, why must you salt food that is cooked in butter? Butter has salt, are you guys retards? The last nail in the coffin…18% Gratuity for a party of 2? Really, is business that bad that you have to make up for revenue by tacking on service fees? I think that was my last run at this place, I used to be so in love, but not I simply don’t care to go back, the penne and the alfredo I will continue to buy, but on a take-out basis only.

Just say no. I think I tried coming here a few years ago and left because I was seated and received no service for a good long time and just got disgusted and left. Now today I was in the area(not by design since I used to live nearby and it’s so annoying I dunno why I ended up here, in search of a good diner but I should know better, there aren’t any over here anymore) and tried it again, it looked even more beat down and ruined on the outside, with like piles of dirt, refuse, crumbling bits of the outside structure under the windows like a construction zone abandoned, and that should’ve been my first warning, then I go inside and it’s dark as can be, plenty of people inside for some absurd reason, and the jerky host doesn’t even give me any choice of seating and I had no chance to even say I wanted a booth if possible but he seats me in some stupid table area near 10000 other people and all I wanted was a small booth away from the noise and bustle. I just don’t have the patience for this nonsense anymore. I just gave up and just left, once again. And then I read on here that this place went downhill ages ago, and the food is crap, so I guess I should be glad I didn’t actually eat here EITHER time! The diners over here really suck I dunno why, even the Tower and a few other joints over in Forest Hills aren’t any great shakes. I just give up. I ended up having to drive out to Commack LI today to find a decent, acceptable diner to have some brunch at. Ridiculous. And the reason being is that a lot of the once-great diners in Nassau County LI also blow these days, a lot of them have changed hands numerous times and/or have gone completely down the drain service and food quality-wise. It’s surely a sad state of affairs.

Ugggg. I remember back in the day when this place use to be Sage diner and now it’s this place. No not for the better. Hit and miss is the name of the game. There has been times where I would order something like a simple burger and it would be good and then other times where it was just awful. A good restaurant is consistent with it’s food quality. The only time I come here is if I’m in a group that decided they want stomach aches. lol sorry but it’s a fact. I didn’t give them 1 star simply because like I said they are a hit and miss.

Food was so delicious… didn’t taste nor look like your average diner food. It was better than I expected and reasonably priced. My guy had the pizza burger deluxe and I had the banana pancakes. Food looked very appetizing, made my mouth water, my guy thoroughly enjoyed his sweet potato fries, onion rings, and burger. I actually wished I had ordered what he had lol but I was satisfied with my banana pancakes they were really good, not too sweet, just right. Oh and they make great ice tea too. I didn’t eat in, I ordered take out and it was delivered in a timely fashion.

Went to Pop’s City Grill(formerly Pop City Diner) tonight. This Diner used to be terrific! Sadly, it is no longer an option. If I could have given it zero stars I would. You can tell by the amount of customers and the almost empty parking lot that folks have figured out that this place has gone way downhill. Monday night at about 8:30 pm and not busy… we waited over ten minutes and finally started waving to see if we could get a waiter. Several waiters were hanging around talking to the hostess sitting at the counter. My friend ordered a skirt steak medium with salad, sweet potato fries, and broccoli, and I asked the waiter if they had a rare roast beef and if so, I’d have a roast beef sandwich. Then we waited and waited. No salad and no waiter. My friend had to get up and flag down another waiter to remind him that we should be getting a salad and could we have some bread. I was ready to eat the chair legs. Just as we predicted everything came out at once and they never put down straws with our sodas, ketchup for our fries, or mayonnaise for my sandwich. We had to flag down the waiter for these items as well. My friend’s Steak was well done and like rubber. They gave him roasted sweet potato instead of the fries and my Roast Beef sandwich was just plain lousy. It was not rare and the Roast Beef tasted as if it was in the refrigerator for a week. Both of us were so hungry we decided to make do. I made it about ¾ of the way through the first half of my sandwich and gave up. When the waiter asked if I wanted the rest to go I politely told him that I didn’t care for it and that it didn’t taste fresh. He apologized but didn’t offer me anything else. To be fair I don’t know if I’d expect him to since I did eat most of the first half-sandwich. I guess that’s a judgment call. They did correct the sweet potato error by bringing out a healthy-sized plate of sweet potato fries which weren’t bad just a tad under-cooked. Summing up, the wait was long for sub par food and poor service. They were never impolite or disrespectful, just very poor servers. Two years ago I would’ve rated this place between four and five stars. Whenever I see a place this poorly run I pass by six months or a year down the road and here’s a «For Sale» sign in the window.

Came here for breakfast with a bunch of friends for a typical Sunday brunch. This place looks very shiny, since it’s been newly renovated. However, the service was very poor. It took them 15 minutes to serve us our drinks. The food wasn’t that great either. Very disappointed and will probably not come back.

I am making a Unilocal account to write this review. I am a long time Queens resident, and I’ve eaten in a LOT of diners. I really enjoy Pop City because they have a very large variety of interesting offerings. They offer your standards, along with dishes you won’t normally find in a diner. It’s quite a tasty place!

Recycling is important. It saves trees. And cans of Fanta. Pop City Grill is all for saving the planet, but there are some things that really shouldn’t be recycled… like the grease and oil in cooking pans. Clearly, it’s no coincidence that everything tastes like a greasy hamburger at Pop’s. You order an omelette? It’ll taste like a hamburger. Pancakes? Wrong. It’s hamburger. Pork sandwich? Mooooo, not oink oink. It’s no wonder that Pop’s is at the bottom of the Queens Boulevard diner triumvirate, with the other two diners being the ever reliable Tower Diner, and the competent Georgia Diner.

Used to be Pop Diner, but now it is even worse. I ordered via grubhub and it took over an hour to delivery a burger and fries to a location half a mile away from the diner. The worst part the food was cold and mediocre at best Definitely would not order again.

Used to be an amazing restaurant. Service absolutely sucked. Ordered an egg and cheese sandwich, and it came out wrong! How do you screw that up? I understand it’s a diner but our server never asked how everything was, not to mention the fact that he was standing right in front of us, staring while we motioned for refills on drinks. We never got them. Over priced. Go back to the old menu! P.s If you bring your children with you, make sure they don’t listen to the music. There’s no censor and we spent half of our meal listening to how Ja Rule wants to f!#&$ Ashanti with her skirt on.

Formerly Pop Diner, this Queens staple has been part of my meeting repertoire for years. The service is very good. The layout is welcoming and the dining areas are clean. While the menu hasn’t changed much, there are a few new items that might be worth a visit for. The Californian omelet and the whole grain banana pancakes are quite tasty. I love their coffee also.

This is located in the same space as the formerly named Pop Diner, they’re under new management and have a new menu. Not that you should run there in a hurry. My friend ordered home fries and a scrambled egg well done with a side of bacon. Maybe they thought he wanted the bacon well done because the eggs came out normal(though they weren’t scrambled– the cook had made an omelet of just eggs for some reason) while the bacon was rock hard. No grease, no flavor, just four burnt pieces of rigid pig. I ordered the shrimp avocado wrap in a pesto sauce($ 12) which came with fries and cold slaw. The cold slaw was not good but the fries were actually inedible and rock hard due to what I think was severe freezer burn. The only reason this place didn’t get one star is because the wrap was actually okay, even good. Perhaps not $ 12 good, but they didn’t skimp on the shrimp so the price at least makes sense. The avocado was fresh, the pesto tasty. Not good enough to come back for though in light of everything else. And the music was… interesting. I don’t know if they were jukebox selections or what, but I sincerely hope that’s the last time I have to sit through the entirety of She Blinded Me With Science. Since it’s probably my last time at Pop Diner I’m hoping that won’t be a problem.
