I get a fade. Its a highly detailed but very simple cut. 1, tapered at the bottom. Styled and longer on top. Like a previous reviewer said they DONTHAVETHECLIPPERS for this. The woman RUSHED through my haircut. She went WAY too high around the ears. She was rough with the scissors. She didn’t care. She took 10 minutes and didn’t wash my hair OR ask about eyebrows. I will NEVER return.

Okay, so one bad experience shouldn’t overshadow several other good ones. Honestly, I just had a bad stylist one time, so this’s been re-rated accordingly(up from 2 stars to 4). On a recent visit, Alex gave a great haircut and was very amiable. The shampoo used in the ‘triple play’ is a soothing peppermint tea tree that leaves a cooling, tingly sensation on your scalp. A steamed towel completes the zen-like haircutting experience. Waits are sometimes 20+ minutes, others are a walk-up; largely depends on the day and time-of-day, but sometimes it’s just a roll of the die. The haircut ‘punchcard’ gives a $ 2, $ 3, $ 5, and half-off discount to save a couple bucks. Relatively clean store with a nice wall mural.

You know, I like this place. I do not come here often because it is out of my way and a lot of places are closer, but I like something about it. The fact that it is a male hair cutting place is nice. And all the sports on tv is cool. All the girls are very nice to talk to. I guess this place just kind of makes getting a haircut less of a chore.

Avoid this place at ALL costs SAM messed up my sons hair beyond belief !!! My husband told her FOURTIMES that he has a communion next week and she didn’t care. Made the hairline INCHES too high and he looks soooooo ridiculous. I may have to shave all his hair off so he looks half decent. The manager came to fix it … FIXIT ?!? Really !?! What was she gonna do a hair transplant or something? Places like this are sketchy because the people are usually straight out of beauty school and how this SAM got her license is beyond me. This place must be really desperate for employees after what I saw I can’t believe it. The BEST part is I called there to talk to her about it and let her know she ruined his whole communion because the poor kids sooooo embarrased that he doesn’t even want to go to the communion looking like that. Who would ??? And she HUNGUPONMEANDDIDNT even care !!! My husband told her over and over about the hairline so she swivels the chair around and messed him up soooooo bad and my husband was so upset too and guess what she didn’t care either. Do yourself a favor, if you want a messed up haircut, go and see Sam… especially if you don’t care because lord knows, she doesn’t !

I don’t understand why this location has such a low rating. Sure, onetime I had a poor experience here… That was one time out of 30. Location can’t be beat. Sometimes there is a line but having Starbucks and Jimmy Johns next door helps a lot.

JMC is my go to Barber shop in Elmhurst but sometimes time is of the essence(or a nice coupon during a tight month is the trump card) but Sport Clips in Elmhurst is a solid fall back. The ladies offer relative good conversation with a swift pace and tolerable wait times. They don’t cut corners or just push you through and take pride in their work. The store is clean and it is a pleasant place for a hair cut. I also noticed great patience and performance with children! You know what you are getting with a chain haircut chair but they do it better than most!

I found a coupon in our local mailer for 5 dollars for a haircut here. You can’t go wrong there. Overall, though, I got a pretty average experience I wouldn’t pay full price for. It’s funny, for a place that costs so much more than say, a Great Clips, they actually offer a lot less. Unless you want to pay more than 20 bucks for the completely pointless towel and massager, you’re not getting anything for the money but your hair getting pretty quickly cut. There wasn’t a lot of care taken, just buzz buzz, clip clip. They don’t even have the thinning shears there, which just seems odd, so my hair feels much thicker than usual, which doesn’t feel great in the summer. And it seems like a nit-pick, but they didn’t use talcum powder on my neck afterwards, which left it feeling chafed on uncomfortable. These are little things that even the discount places make a point of offering, so I’m just really confused why Sports Clips wouldn’t. The woman who cut my hair was friendly enough, which is nice, she just didn’t seem to care too much about the details.

I recently obtained a new job in the area and since I did not know any local barber yet and was in dire need of a haircut I decided to give Sportsclips a try. Now if you’re a guy who doesn’t know what they want in a haircut, go to the barbershop because your wife/girlfriend/mom tells you, and the only thing you can muster is «take a little bit off the top», then this barbershop is for you. The stylist treat you nice, give you a nice minty hair shampoo, and generally recommend some nice products. But if your like me and you know what you want in a haircut(especially if you like fades) than this place isn’t for you. I went it there, asked the nice lady for a «#2 on top, #1 on the sides, taper the bottom and line it up». A very typical cut. Well they knew how to do the fade but the stylist didn’t have a taper gaurd or razors to do a proper lining. Big letdown.
