History

Established in 2012.

A new café is set to open in downtown Elmira in February 2015.

The Turtle Leaf Café in Horseheads will be closing up shop and moving to downtown Elmira on East Water Street.

The café will close its current location on Saturday, January 24. Construction is already underway to prepare the downtown Elmira storefront for opening day, February 2.

Soon to be new owner, Adam Bunce said he is grateful for the opportunity given to him by former owner, Clara Tryon. Bunce made the move to Elmira four years ago and says he is anxious to open business.

«I see a lot of potential this city has I just think that we can bring what we’ve established the past few years in Horseheads to Elmira downtown area and just kind of give it something new and exciting a new option. There’s already great establishments down there but we look forward to joining those ones as well.»

One of the café’s biggest priorities is to use local and organic products to ensure quality.

Meet the Business Owner

Adam B.

Business Owner

Adam has spent over 15 years in the restaurant industry. His first job was at a Mcdonalds in his hometown while in High School. He gained insight into Front of House experience while working there as well as Friendly’s, and a locally owned restaurant, Little Italy. It wasn’t until later in life when he worked at chain restaurants like Ruby Tuesday and Buffalo Wild Wings that he decided to look into owning something of his own. When he was approached by the original owner of Turtle Leaf Café to be the manager of her restaurant he was very quick to accept the role. After working as the manager of Turtle Leaf Café for 18 months he was then offered the opportunity to take on ownership of the café. When deciding to keep the restaurant in the current location or move to Elmira it was Adam’s choice to bring their unique menu to the heart of his hometown in hopes that the downtown area will eventually turn around.
