Declan’s Bar & Grill

We went there once, the drinks were excellent and the food was delicious. I had a vodka tonic, it was made very well. My husband had a burger and sweet potato fries, with a few beers. The waitresses were very nice, and I will most definitely return. Also, the prices were decent. We both ate and drank well for under 60 bucks. Thank you for a nice date nite :)

This is my new go to for great burgers! Different combinations of toppings paired with your choice of meat makes this place outstanding! Great place for just grabbing a drink or two on a Saturday night too!

An awesome place to go for drinks (they have an amazing beer selection!) and the food just makes it even better! The burger selection is impressive and every one I’ve tried has been great. The staff is extremely friendly and service is fast. Definitely a top spot to go to anytime!

We waited 50 minutes for 2 burgers
And ordered medium and they both came in super well done also the wagu beef does not taste at all like Wagu
So disappointing thought that we will have a decent place in the neighborhood

The food is pretty good for a little bar! Their burgers are great! However, they’re so stingy with their drinks… wow! I’ve gone there 4 or 5 times and am always given such a weak mixed drink. Being in the service industry, myself, I appreciate being taken care of! I’m always SO disappointed… you don’t create regulars from ripping people off.

This is the second time I’ve been here and it’s delish! Their sweet potato fries are the best ones I’ve had and they have an amazing chicken Milanese sandwich. Their Bblt is fantastic too but you have to like pork! Tried their bottle cap pickles which are essentially fried pickles but their Asiago ranch completes it! Mellow neighborhood place with nice people! Must check out!

Declan’s is like one of those nice neighborhood bars you so happily confide in during those random times. The only difference between this neighborhood bar, and your typical one, is that Declan’s has one hell of a food menu that’s vegan and carnivore friendly. On top of that, a good variety of beer.
I had the fortunate chance to check this place out and try their veggie burger in the «HOTHOUSE» style, accompanied by the sweet potato fries. The burger itself was above satisfactory, but what really brought it on home was the flavorful combination of the spicy aioli, avocado, ghost pepper cheese, topped with a tomato. Not too spicy, as my threshold is at about a 7, and this was definitely manageable; 10 being what I can’t fathom how others manage.
The sweet potato fries are definitely a good choice btw. They were surprisingly exceptional, and had a nice flavor that wasn’t lacking for your typical sweet potato fries that some average bar and grill might fare.
All around it was a pleasant experience, and worth every penny. With 11 beers on tap, that rotate, and a hefty selection of those in bottles it’s easy to say this is one swell establishment, with an equally swell staff.

Food is awesome. Wow, those burgers. All of them are great. Bar is atmosphere is very cool. Servers friendly.

My girlfriend and I went last night for dinner and drinks. The service, food, and drinks were spot on. The wings we’re good buffalo wings but the real winner was our fish and chips. The fish and the batter was perfectly cook.
The bar tender was the only server so he was busy but he really knew what he was doing. Only complaint was the light were too dimmed. It was very hard to see. But other than that we found a nice new spot for us to go get drinks and food.

You have to try the steak sandwich at Declan’s. It is so good. The bar tender Amber is awesome. So friendly and warm.

Great bartender on Friday nights! Food is amazing, laid back ambiance, never crowded.
Driving into the city for a quality burger and craft beer is so overrated. I’m glad this place is walking distance from my house.

My husband and I have been here several times. I would have given them 4 or 5 stars before but something has changed. We have taken several friends back but this last time we were semi-​embarassed that we talked up the place only to be disappointed. First off the server was unprofessional in the way she dressed and interacted. She took forever to take our order for our food. She checked in frequently but then her shift must have ended because she asked us several times if we were done. Then another «server» comes in half dressed and also looking very unprofessional. I get the girls are also bartenders and certain attire is encouraged but in this case it is just tasteless. Anyway, this server also asked us several times if we were done. We felt rushed out. Burger was ok but over priced. Atmosphere was tacky which I don’t think it’s what they’re going for.

This neighborhood needed a place like this!!! My brother and I wanted to go to a fun bar with craft beer and burgers but didn’t feel like driving all the way to the city. So glad we found this place so close to home! Food was delicious and the beer selection is great! Loved this place!

In it for the beer. If you know your game then this is right in the middle. Many flagship beers to go around, nothing you cant pick up near by yourself for a bit less then $ 6 a bottle. The food was menu is an ok layout with different burgers and some a la carte items, not much to eat if you want to snack on something without forking over $ 10. Quick bite and a beer midday just about sums up its use. C+

I’ll go 3 stars only because 2.5 is not an option. First time here for me and I am less than impressed, there were 12 people in the whole place, they have 4 TV’s over the bar, none anywhere else, no local games on when we were there even though the Cubs game had started. Music was too loud and at times I couldn’t hear what my wife said. Appetizer was the pretzels with cheese and mustard dipping sauces, very good. My wife ordered the Angus Bleu Burger which she enjoyed, I ordered the Angus burger and it was good, food here is worth it, but as far as service goes there is a lot of improvement to be done.

Unless they went on Restaurant Impossible and Robert Irvine tracked me down himself to come back for his revamped menu, I wouldn’t think of coming back. Server/​bartender on a Sunday didn’t know anything about the menu. When asking if there was anything special or specific in the hot sauce aioli she answered, «it’s spicy.» Gee, thanks.
Before that, when I met my friends there she asked what I wanted to drink. I said, «let me look at the menu and decide please.» She said okay and then told me later she didn’t have that drink. CLEARLY she didn’t even hear me and wasn’t listening. She also couldn’t tell me if they had Oberon when asking about beers.
When I asked for another beer she brought me the one my friend was drinking which was different from mine. My friend said she’d take the beer than the waitress told me she wouldn’t charge me. Why not take it off my friends second beer and charge me because I originally asked for the second one?
Chips w/​the appetizer were very greasy and stale tasting.
Ordering food — told they were out of regular fries. When we all said we’d take sweet potato fries instead, she then informed us of the $ 1 up charge. Listed on the menu which is fine, but if you’re out of regular fries I don’t see why you wouldn’t at least ask your boss (if he’s not your BF/​related) if you can waive the $ 1 up charge out of basic customer service because you don’t have what we originally wanted.
Food — had a burger with an egg and bacon (the Rise N Shine option), the egg was undercooked and cold. Asked for medium, definitely medium-​well. Everyone’s (4 people’s) food was not cooked to what we ordered. Sweet potato fries were VERY OVERCOOKED AND GROSS. No wonder w waited so long for our food, it was all being burnt when we were the only table in the restaurant with food. Guess the chef/​whoever cooked sat on their phone or has no idea what the hell they’re doing.
The bartender obviously wasn’t new because she said to someone when they walked in, «have seen you in a while.» Yet, she still didn’t know basic menu questions or much about it.
Just to add to the humor of this awful experience, it took her forever to get our separate checks.

Gaaaahd I’d been itching to try Declan’s since it opened. I was a bit dismayed that their menu is quite pricey. But I do really enjoy Declan’s atmosphere! There’s parking on the street, but no parking lot – so be wary.
The highlights of my meal were the excellent service during a Hawks game, live music, daily specials, laaaaarge beer selection! They also had a variety of meats to choose from for your burger. Love that some beers are served in mason jars too.
The lowlights was the live music was scheduled during the game so the whole bar had to watch without commentary. The food my friends and I ordered was average and the poutine was especially subpar considering the cold cheese curds and brisket. Their entire menu is enticing but the appetizers are pricey.
All in all, I’ll be giving Declan’s another try, but this was a mixed experience.

During a Friday lunch break, five of us visited Declan’s for lunch and had some great burgers, reasonably priced craft beer and enjoyed super-​friendly service. It’s a bit of a drive from our work place but we all agreed it was worth it. We’ll be back!

Burgers come super plump — they don’t look weak and small, they’re juicy and full of massive flavor!
You can choose a burger in a variety of meats — grass fed beef/​bison/​turkey/​veggie — sooooo good!
You won’t be dissapointed!
