Freedman & Chesley Custom Cabinets

Finally finding time to post reviews after our 6 month remodel (kitchen and 3 baths):
We had a plus/​minus experience with Freedman&Chesley. We had originally contracted with them for a custom master bath vanity and a custom guest bathroom vanity.
Plus:
–We commissioned them to build a custom L-​shaped vanity. The master vanity looks and functions beautifully! Gorgeous white paint, cabinets with perfect function. Fits the space like a glove.
–They took the time to go over our kitchen drawings and make suggestions, even though they had told us they were too busy to take that project on.
Minus:
–They were unhappy with our contractor (Who did an amazing job for us). I think the problems arose because F&C wanted to be involved early and often, whereas the contractor said «i’ll let you know when I need you.» Regardless, their inability to get along was a bit tiring from the client’s side. I didn’t like playing mediator.
–Still do hand-​drawn renderings. Thus, any changes are hard to make and met with some resistance. Really, in this age, computer design and 3D renderings should be an expectation.
–Master bath vanity was too short (32″). Our contractor had to build a platform to get it to 35″. Note: I am 6’3″. To be honest, F&C confirmed the height with us several times — and we went with their suggestion. But in reality, they should have known better, counseled us, and helped us make the right decision the first time.
Crazy minus:
–They got busy with some larger kitchen projects, and backed out of their commitment to do our guest bathroom. Let’s just say we were not pleased. Luckily, we found someone else (who turned out to be amazing) on short notice (see my other reviews).
All in all, just a bit more grumpy and old-​fashioned for our taste. We would not go with them again.

I own a design build firm and have worked with Marty and Leigh. They are absolutely great and their work is exceptional.
They can deliver a quality that is better than the high end European brands and a degree of professionalism, service and speed that’s incredibly rare.
They provide a great service and show an enthusiasm for their work– whether big or small that makes it a truly great experience for the client.

It’s been a few years now, since Marty and Leigh built my bedroom cabinets (featured on their website) and I still get compliments when people see them. The craftsmanship is superb, with great attention to detail, and the wood is treated with love and respect… something I find very seldom these days.
I was so taken that I had them build my bathroom cabinet as well. Beautiful work, reasonable priced, and what a pleasure to have had them work in my home. They were sweet, very friendly and understanding, clean, and on time. What more can one ask?
I’d wish all contractors were like them; what a Joy ;-)

The best. Superb craftsmanship and quality from Marty and Leigh. And unparalleled customer service. Not aggressive and not too laid back. They listened carefully to our ideas, came back with a great response and delivered on-​time and within budget. A great experience. We are very satisfied with their work.
