Snowflower RV Resort

Update: the smell went away. I guess that was normal during the winter time. Squirrels crawl in and they die. Although the pungent smell was horrible the first day, it was fine after Karen brought some air freshener. Matt was really nice and helpful! I would definitely come back. The lounge family area is nice too. Pool and foose ball is entertaining and private hills to sled on!

I read all these reviews and reviews from other sites and thought I may have made a mistake. Not So! We had a great time. The staff was very friendly. We drove to all the lakes, went kayaking, played in the lodge. Went to the group campfire and had an ice cream social. The cabins are excellent if you just want to grab some food and head up. They have everything you need dishes, stove, BBQ, refrigerator. People pissed about not getting to have a fire? We are in a major drought! One spark and that area will be gone for a very long time. I will go again very soon. I’m glad I didn’t listen to the bad reviews and took the chance.

I am surprised to see the negative reviews, but maybe it is because we stay in the cabins, as opposed to using an RV or the tent sites. We have stayed there multiple times and the staff has always been super friendly (shout out to Wendy, Garret and Matt!) before, during and after our trips there. The cabins have everything and anything you could possibly need and we love that we can literally grab our clothes and throw some food in an ice chest and go. There have been a minor issue here or there, but the staff is always quick to fix the issue with a smile on their face. My family and I will continue to use Snowflower as our number one go to place to camp. In fact, we are going again this week! :)

This place could be awesome if they took better care of the facilities. Everything just feels run down and neglected. The bathrooms that were near our area of camp had showers but no shower curtains. The toilets didn’t flush in the men’s bathroom.
They also need better signs and directions as to what direction the camping loops go.
After walking through some other areas of camp there are spots that seemed cool and better maintained. The bathrooms and shower on the other areas were really nice. It’s a huge facility and as such there are places that are nice and others that are not.
The staff at the front was friendly but the folks that service the bathrooms and drive around camp were not.
The biggest thing that’s negative about this place is they don’t allow campfires. Lame.
After a 3 night stay we decided we won’t go back.

Let me begin by saying I DID receive a call from the resort a few days before we were to arrive. In that voice mail, I was told we’d be staying at the Cliffs location (meant nothing to me, but sounded nice) because the other areas were not yet opened.
Turns out the «Cliffs» was a parking pad. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. Had we known this, I’d have cancelled my reservation.
We decided that this was not camping and moved on. Before we left, I expressed my disappointment and asked, not for a refund, but to possible rebook for a different week. I was told no.
Overall, a very disappointing experience. They lost me as a future customer by not treating us as valued customers.
I have called twice to speak to the manager, but have not heard back.
The topper was that they would not let us camp elsewhere because of the possibility of being stuck in the snow. Mind you, there was NO snow on the ground and NO snow in the forecast. It seemed a bit ridiculous. Oh, and no fires of ANY sort (except from a gas grill).
None of these limitations were listed in the website (and the fire issue was not left on the VM).
And the WIFI? The lodge wasn’t even open, so no wifi was picked up.

I won’t be coming be coming back here… ever. We came to the resort to visit Kelly Lake and were treated like crap by the guy at the front who gave out the day pass. More importantly were the people at the lake who acted like we were imposing on their personal property and said «really?» As we walked in with our group and small raft. No way I’m coming back here, felt like a bizarre compound of weirdos who don’t welcome visitors.

Parked for 5 minutes while geocaching… And Wendy decided to be a bitch… Sorry we were the only car there and you were even open…

This place needs to be reviewed as two places.
1. Tent camping (what we did) — its great, there’s nice bathrooms close by sites, there’s an outlet, and water. Although it has these great amenities it does not lose that outdoor in the forest feel that you want when you camp. The bad side is there’s no fires allowed, which is a huge part of camping so that’s a bummer. The other downer is that this place attracts some seriously odd people (see the second party below), but if you’re camping you won’t be around most of them.
We did leave our site to explore and there’s a lot to do if you’re just looking to hang out and be low key. We really enjoyed going out on the lake, swimming in the pool and playing scramble in the lodge when there wasn’t a ton of families in there. DON“T GO TO THE EVENING FIRE ON FRIDAY OR SATURDAY!!! Well unless you’re trashy and love trashy RV people with about 1,000 kids running around.
2. The RV resort — Holy trashy people with money batman! Seriously these people live at this resort all season I guess. They have their RVs set up with Dish Network, flat screen TVs, and there seems to be a competition to see who can have the highest number of bear statues around their site.
These people have formed some sense of ownership because they are members and they are very rude and annoying. As you come down the dirt roads (they are ALL DIRT ROADS) doing 5mph they will scream at you to slow down because your car is kicking dust into their outdoor living room where Bubba and Lil Bob are watching the game drinking their beers. Seriously they are 5 feet off the dirt road and get mad that dust flies around. One guy yelled at us even though we put the car on cruise control at 4 mph just to test them. He was so stupid he didn’t realize that he was standing still and had a 1 minute convo with us as we were moving past him, that’s how slow we were going.
The bad news is you drive past these morons a lot if you’re tent camping and drive down to go swimming etc. Also, there’s tons of kids and those kids are being raised by the trashy adults so they all act the same.

The cabins and camping is great here. One of the best places we have ever stayed. Very friendly people at this resort. We have been here in the summer and winter. We like the winter here they always have great snow for snow shoeing and for the kids to slide down the hills in their tubes. This place is a blast for the whole family.
