History

Established in 1973.

We began beading in the 1960’s, then started collecting and seriously studying in 1972 when we relocated from the East Coast to Arizona and began a spiritual love affair w/Native American art. Beads, Crystals and More has been featured in national magazines such as Ornament and Sunset. Our reputation for having one of the finest selections of quality beads and crystals has spread from coast to coast. We’ve attended the largest Gem, Mineral and Bead show in the world for the past 37 years and have cultivated great friends and contacts around the world in search of the finest products available. Acquired Gemologist credentials from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in the early 1980’s. Became a G.G., then a Senior Charter member of the National Assoc. of Gem & Jewelry Appraisers (NGJA). Management w/Zales Jewelers. Phil was also a Certified, Licensed Investment Broker specializing in Precious Metals research w/ITG International Trading.

Phil F.

Business Owner

Phil is passionate about beads, having started creating with them in the 1960’s. He started his lifelong enjoyment of crystals and minerals at age 7 when he started to dig in Garnet quarries on the East Coast. Upon relocating to Arizona he worked in local bead store until his hire by Zales Jewelers, the world’s largest, where he became a top manager. Phil earned his Graduate Gemologist credentials through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), recognized around the world as the «gold standard» in Gem education. Recently Phil and Valeri attended the unveiling of the newly published «History of Beads». The event held at the Bead Museum in Glendale Arizona featured a lecture on the latest world developments in Beads by author Lois Dubin. following the event noted Bead Historian Jamey Allen visited Beads, Crystals & More in Encinitas for the second time to detail the collection. Phil buys everything for the store as if it is a gift for his lovely wife Valeri or his Mom and Dad.
