Birkenstock of Encinitas

I walked in and asked for sandals, and got a blank stare from the cute girl at the counter. I repeated the word sandals 3 times to make sure she heard me right. Surely she knows what the word means but I got worried for a second. I was then informed that this store does not have sandals, which is concerning as I thought Birkenstock was a main source of sandals. Therefore I asked for the mens shoes so I can verify if they have sandals. Upon being redirected to the mens shoes, I saw an entire section of what I would have called sandals. I asked her what she called this kind of shoe, and she wasn’t sure but she would just call it more of an open shoe. I picked out a pair of sandals that I liked and she was able to find my size, and I walked out pleased with my sandals, but not so pleased with the educational levels of the employees at a store that sells sandals.

This location has a wider variety of shoes (and colors) than the Old Town location.
They seem to have every type of comfort shoe (Uggs, Sanita, Mephisto, Vibram, …) as well as Birkenstocks.
They are in the Lumberyard strip mall in the same parking lot as SoulScape and just south of Whole Foods. There is parking in the lot or on the main street.
The employees are pleasant and helpful.
I went in looking for a certain Sanita clog I had seen on the Sanita website. The Sanita site says try to shop locally for their shoes if you can. Birkenstock said they could order it from Sanita but that they would be final sale. The Sanita website has the offer of returns and exchanges, so I have to go with the online instead of local.

First of all, they have other brands of shoes besides Birkenstocks. I thought they would only have that brand (like a «vans» store) but they had uggs and other brands.
I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks today. Since they were pricey it took a while for me to decide on a pair and the sales associates were all friendly and I didn’t feel annoying for trying on multiple pairs.
They were honest about what ones were harder to break in and what not, so I appreciated that. Overall it was a good experience and I already want another pair :)

Rolled in here at 7:30pm 7÷14÷15 after hustling down to Encinitas from up the freeway a ways. Their signs says they close at 8pm but the employee, Ms. bobbed hair and Storm Trooper tights, must not have noticed as she was mentally closed already. My Wife was interested in getting something to help with plantar fasciitis and was sent here by a friend who did have good luck with a knowledgeable employee. Obviously, we didn’t get that person. We told the girl we were new to this type of shoe and what we were hoping to find. She was generally unhelpful unless somehow you classify standing by the register and looking at your personal cell phone to be of some value. I do not. We knew nothing about Birkenstock and that ilk of shoe. By perusing the selection, we managed to find out that there are padded foot beds available in some models. This would have been nice to know up front sweetie. Turns out almost every model we asked to try was met with «We don’t have that in your size». We aren’t trying to fit a Sasquatch here. A women’s 8.5 is a fairly common size I would imagine. So we are led to draw a couple conclusions about this store. They do not restock commonly sold sizes and the help, based on our experience, is either ignorant, indifferent, or some combination thereof. Go elsewhere.

I loved shopping in this shoe store. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the various shoe lines. I bought one pair and the sales associate ordered another pair in the color that I wanted. I would recommend this shoe store to anyone who is looking for a great selection of attractive but practical shoes.

I came in to the store to with my Mom to window shop old lady/​hippy shoes but ended up walking out with an adorable pair of flats! I was so happy to see they had more than just Birkenstocks in their selection. The woman who helped us, I believe her name was «Ronda,» went above and beyond to make sure we were both taken care of and fitted with the perfect pairs of shoes. I had a great experience and will be sure to return again soon.
Ps: I love that their inventory seems to be ever changing and they seem to keep up with some of the latest styles.

The ladies at this store are SO very helpful. I had a torn achilles, was just about to move to France and was having a very hard time finding shoes that I could tolerate, or potentially tolerate, after I would be able to walk again. I must have tried on everything at least twice, ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes and a pair of boots and then exchanged 2 of them for different color/​size within a day or two. Not an easy customer, but they were so patient and helped me graciously. I wear my Olukai boots practically every day in France, they are my favourites!
They have a great selection of shoes for any foot issues and comfort in general. If they had Fit Flop clogs and Haflinger slippers, I would’ve bought everything here.

Went there today to buy a pair of shoes. the lady who helped me (short hair) was extremely unfriendly. I had to buy the pair on display because it was the only one in my size. it was worn and had a stain. I barely got a discount. Next time I’ll buy on line And get a better deal!

Sales associate was a total ding dong. The one that deigned to help us that is. Two others were posing at the cash register while the poor girl tried to figure out how to use the ladder in the stock room. Turns out they didn’t have any of the size/​color combos we were after.
